Chapter 119: Crimson Heart Reunion

Crimson Heart Reunion

The golden sunlight streaming in through the tall arched windows warmed the grand living room with a soft, comforting light — high ceilings decorated with golden vines, walls painted ivory and moonstone blue, and a chandelier of crystalline moons that cast gentle glows upon the shining marble floor. Comforting couches of twilight hue adorned the middle, upon which Leon and his wives now sat, finally catching their breath from their long travel.

Leon relaxed back, his fingers stroking the armrest of the velvet sofa, but his eyes were intent—quietly, reflectively—outlined towards the place where Fey and the rest of the maids had disappeared moments before through the corridor. There was no desire in his look, no craving—only a faraway, thoughtful glint in his golden eyes. His lips were motionless, his brow faintly creased. Whatever frolicked behind his irises wasn’t easy.

His wives saw. They always saw every little thing about him—particularly the things he did not say.

But none of them cut in on him—they all honored the gravity of his silences.

The whole room fell silent, and the living room became quiet—so quiet that only one noise was left: the soft rustling of Moonspire’s royal pennants against the windows, the wind.

But then Syra—mischievous, always impatient—could wait no more. With a roll of her hips, and the teasing glint in her green eyes, she stood and moved towards him, her bare feet silent on the marble. She settled down beside him, her thin fingers grasping his sleeve as she leaned forward. She leaned in close and touched her lips to his ear, whispering softly and sensually, ”Darling,” she breathed, her voice a brush of silk against his ear, ”If you wish for her to be in your harem... you know you can have her as well. You only have to say so.”

Leon blinked, taken aback. He hadn’t even realized she’d sat down next to him. Her warm breath, the gentle sound of her voice, it dragged him away from his reverie and back to the moment. For an instant, he just gazed at her—entertained, exposed a little.

Then a gradual smile pulled at his lips as he picked up on the mischievous glint in her eyes. With his fingers, he gently brushed against her cheek and laughed. ”What are you implying, then? Do I look like some irresponsible womanizer to you?”

But he wasn’t ready for what was about to follow.

Near as one voice, all four women—Syra, Kyra, Aria, and Cynthia—spoke in unison, ”Yes, you do.”

Leon blinked in surprise. ”Wait, what?!”

He frowned, pouting slightly. ”I’m not a womanizer. That’s such a crude title.”

They all exchanged amused looks, covering their smiles with graceful hands.

Cynthia arched an eyebrow, still sporting a teasing smile on her face. ”Darling, what you did in the Rose Palace Inn. and what your presence does to those five helpless maids. you didn’t really try, but You surely made them fawn over you. That alone is enough to make you deserve the title.”.

Leon pretended to be shocked, as he raised a dramatic finger at her. ”Hey, I didn’t even attempt to woo anyone! They just couldn’t help but fall in love with my natural charm. That’s not my fault.”

The women shook their heads in mock sympathy.

Within, however, Leon couldn’t help but grin at the absurdity of it all. If you interpret it this way... perhaps I really am a womanizer, he thought with a wry chuckle. And my system’s ultimate objective—ha—it’s really attempting to make me one. In all seriousness... it’s succeeding remarkably well.

He released a slow sigh, his golden eyes still sparkling as the room’s laughter faded slowly into quiet.

Seeing the change in his eyes, Aria’s smile gentled. Her voice, soft and inquiring, shattered the silence.

”Darling... what were you just thinking about?”

Her words stilled the room. The other three looked at Leon, with eyes full of wonder.

He blinked. ”W-What do you mean? I wasn’t thinking about anything,” he lied, too hastily.

Aria tilted her head, narrowing her eyes. ”Darling... if you’re going to lie, at least learn to control your facial expressions first.”

The other women nodded in agreement, arms folded, amused and unimpressed.

Leon looked around, stunned. ”Wait—my expressions are that obvious?”

A voice echoed crisply in his mind.

[System: Yes, Host. Your facial expressions betrayed your inner thoughts.]

Leon flinched, slightly startled and murmured in mind. ”Could’ve warned me first...” he muttered.

He sighed, rubbing his temple as the girls stared him down.

’Great. Even the system’s calling me out now.’

Under his breath, Leon grumbled, ”I really need to get better at hiding my expressions... or I’m going to be doomed in the future.”

”Darling?” Syra’s voice pulled him back again. She tapped his shoulder gently, her tone playful but laced with curiosity.

He turned to meet her eyes.

”Lost in your thoughts again?” she teased, raising an eyebrow. ”Come on, tell us—what were you thinking about?”

Leon released a soft chuckle, ruffling his head like he was attempting to shake it off. But then he smiled, voice warm and genuine. ”Nothing important... just thinking how lucky I am to be with such smart, strong, and stunning women.”

They all grinned, but Aria, grinning, narrowed her eyes. ”Nice try,” she replied sugary sweet, ”but that’s not the response we were looking for.”

Leon laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. I just can’t lie to them, he reflected. Not her in particular... she reads me too well.

”Fine, fine. I’ll say...”

But before he could continue, a gentle sound broke through the silence.

Clink...

Every gaze shifted. They witnessed Fey’s return, carefully guiding the trolley loaded with a silver tray, shining teacups, and an elegant spread of steaming appetizers. Her dark hair fell from her head in shining locks. When her eyes locked onto Leon’s, she blushed pink and hastily glanced away.

Leon smiled warmly, his eyes relaxing. ”It’s quite alright, Fey. Thanks for bringing these.”

Fey’s cheeks flushed a soft pink, and a shy smile played on her lips.

With practiced ease, she began to pour, her hands practiced and easy—except for the last cup. When she reached out for Leon, her fingers shook. As Fey leaned forward to serve him, her hands shook lightly. The proximity—his scent, his quiet smile—washed over her, a soft blush spreading across her pale cheeks.

Leon smiled softly, taking the cup with both hands just before it could slip from her trembling grasp.

Fey blushed deeper. ”I-I apologize, my lord...”

Leon chuckled gently. ”No harm done.”

His wives around him shared glances—some smug, some sympathetic. Poor Fey. Poor girl. Having seen Leon for the first time, she was struggling much more to cope with the full force of his newly heightened charm. Even his wives—so well used and managed to his presence and his charm—were struggling especially hard to avert their eyes today from his magnetic figure.

Fey looked at Leon one final time before hastily averting her gaze, as if she were on the verge of fainting. She blushed, finishing setting out the snacks—a platter of crescent-moon cut honey pastries, spiced nuts, and steamed rice cakes covered in berry jam.

She bowed once more. ”Enjoy your tea and refreshments, my lord. If there is anything... please summon me, my lord. I-I shall leave now.”

Leon, his smile unwavering, responded graciously, ”Thank you for your service, Fey.”

The poor child curtsied again and then turned and nearly ran from the room, vanishing down the hallway like a frightened rabbit.

Leon laughed, shaking his head.

Syra took a dainty sip of tea from beside him and taunted with a wicked grin, ”See? That’s precisely the way that a womanizer smiles, darling.”

Leon rolled his eyes but grinned. ”I’m just smiling. That’s all.”

Soft laughter filled the room.

He also laugh then he raised the cup to his lips and took a careful sip. The tea was rich—earthy, aromatic, with a hint of wild jasmine. But something in the aftertaste made him pause. He stared into the rising steam, watching the gentle spirals curl upward.

Kyra’s eyes narrowed as she caught Leon pausing mid-sip. ”Darling, what’s wrong?”

Leon glanced up at her and then around at the others. They all gazed at him intently, concern dancing in their eyes.

He hastily produced a smile. ”No, nothing. I was just... enjoying the mix. I really enjoy this tea.”

They gazed at him for another moment before resuming their own cups, still unsure but willing to let it slide.

They drank and munched on the snacks. The honey pastries dissolved softly in the mouth, the spiced nuts providing just the right amount of crunch. For a moment, it was quiet.

Until...

Leon stiffened.

A presence crossed the boundaries of the mansion —familiar, and unmistakably dear to Leon’s heart.

His lips twisted into a slow smile. Aria, who sat across from him, copied his expression—already picking up on the presence.

The others—Kyra, Syra, and Cynthia—had caught the presence and turned to look at him, faces curious and confused.

Leon set his tea down carefully on the table and rose, smoothing his robe with slow, deliberate elegance.

Kyra cocked her head. ”Leon? Where are you going?”

He turned with a smiling mockery. ”Nowhere in particular. But someone very special just came. I should go meet her.”

”Her?” Syra, Cynthia, and Kyra all repeated, raising eyebrows.

But Aria simply smiled knowingly.

Before any of them could ask anything else, a shrill voice echoed from the front entrance of the mansion.

”Daddyyyyyyy!!”

A crimson blur shot through the air like a comet, diving at Leon.

He hardly flinched—only repositioned himself—and launched into the approaching force with a fond smile.

His arms clamped around the woman now in his arms.

Her hair cascaded down, a deep crimson silk, her eyes burning like molten rubies. Voluptuous but lithe, with a smooth, delicate body that shivered ever so slightly with the joy of reunion.

She pressed her face into his chest and held on like she would never release him.

”Rias...” Leon breathed, his voice thick with emotion as he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close against his thigh.

His daughter.

His first wife.

The one he’d missed every second since she departs Silver City.

For an eternity, there was nothing else of note but the heat of her presence — the welcome home his heart had yearned for.
