Supreme Emptiness

Chapter 2234: Chapter 2278: Buddhist Verse

Jiang Fan fell silent. He knew exactly who Dharma Seal was talking about.

The South Sea Demon Emperor, Jiu Meng. The woman who had left him a kiss at the bottom of the sea before retreating to the South Sea.

”She was just too foolish,” Jiang Fan sighed.

Dharma Seal said calmly, ”She wasn’t foolish; she was just willing to be foolish for you.”

Jiang Fan opened his mouth, but surprisingly couldn’t find the words to refute him.

He snapped, ”You damn monk, your mouth is the most stubborn part of your whole body! You’d better watch yourself, lest you truly succumb to your inner demons one day! If that day comes, I’ll personally cut you down! Let’s go!”

He swept his large sleeve, wrapping Dharma Seal up and carrying him far away.

Dharma Seal smiled faintly. Jiang Fan was getting flustered from being called out, wasn’t he? Though he acted like he didn’t care on the surface, in his heart he still cared somewhat about that Female Demon Emperor who was trapped in place, forever unable to walk out.

His own relationship with Yuwei was a doomed karma, but wasn’t Jiang Fan and Jiu Meng’s the same? If he were to become a demon, what would Jiang Fan become?

Watching the Void reverse around them, Dharma Seal asked, ”Martial Granduncle, where are we heading? And why the rush?”

Jiang Fan said, ”To Nanqian. The Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis is chasing us. But don’t worry, we’ve already shaken him off. Accompany me on a trip to Nanqian; when the time comes, I’ll take you back to the Hell Realm.”

Dharma Seal nodded slightly. ”The Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis... is the Cause and Effect between him and you, Martial Granduncle, still unresolved?”

As he spoke, he took out his Buddha Bowl from his sleeve and reflected Jiang Fan in it. The clear liquid in the Buddha Bowl was like a mirror, reflecting Jiang Fan’s face. Then, he silently chanted a Buddhist mantra.

In the Buddha Bowl, behind Jiang Fan’s reflection appeared a massive, terrifying face wearing a black iron mask and possessing blood-red eyes. Like an evil ghost, it clung stubbornly to Jiang Fan’s back.

Dharma Seal extended his index finger and tapped the mask of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis within the Buddha Bowl. He softly chanted a Buddhist mantra, his voice magnetic and clear:

”The karmic ties of past lives are but the wind of this life,

A cup of murky wine leaves a great Meng Kong.

Smoke locks the old city, blurring the eyes,

A distant boat meets the sun, as the river flows east.”

Hearing this, Jiang Fan felt a sense of enlightenment in his heart. This was a persuasion to dissolve the obsessions in one’s heart and not to be trapped within them.

He joked, ”You guy, opening your mouth with Buddhist verses, you’re becoming more and more like the Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva. Who are you preaching Buddhist Law to?”

Just as he finished speaking.

In Dharma Seal’s Buddha Bowl, the reflection of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis suddenly shifted its gaze, locked onto Dharma Seal, and opened its mouth to let out a cold shout. There was no sound and no tone. However, the liquid in the Buddha Bowl suddenly boiled, transforming into bloody water that dyed the entire bowl crimson.

Dharma Seal gazed at the bowl full of bloody water and formed a hand seal with one hand. ”Amitabha. The grudge between you, Martial Granduncle, and the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis is as deep as a Blood Sea. This poor monk’s mastery of the Buddhist Law is too shallow to resolve it.”

Jiang Fan’s expression changed slightly. So Dharma Seal had just been attempting to reform the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis and resolve the grudge between them. Their accumulated grudges were already so deep, how could they possibly be resolved?

Jiang Fan had heavily injured the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis and escaped from his pursuit several times; it was absolutely impossible for the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis to let him go. And it was equally impossible for Jiang Fan to let matters rest with him. Having hunted him for so long, sooner or later, Jiang Fan would make him pay!

”Thanks, but the best way to settle the grudge between us is a fight to the death!” Jiang Fan said with a cold face.

Dharma Seal softly chanted a Buddhist mantra and said, ”Then this poor monk will scout the location of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis for you, Martial Granduncle. Hopefully, it will delay this bloody disaster for you.”

He stirred the bloody water in the Buddha Bowl with his finger, and the liquid instantly returned to its clear state.

”The mortal heart enters Heaven and Earth; all the sounds of nature are my voice.”

As his voice faded, a picture appeared in the water once more. It was a blood-red moon, speeding through the Void. On the moon stood a tall White Bone Warhorse, and upon its back sat the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis, his cape fluttering fiercely in the wind.

The smile on Dharma Seal’s lips vanished. ”Martial Granduncle, the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis is only half a day away from you.”

What? Jiang Fan was greatly shocked!

Relying on Linglong’s escape speed, he had clearly opened up a full six days’ distance. Only two and a half days had passed, and the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis had already caught up by half?

He looked into the Buddha Bowl and was surprised to find that the blood moon beneath the feet of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis was larger than any he had ever seen before! He remembered that the blood moon was forged from the blood and bones of the experts the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis had slain in his life. The stronger the blood moon, the more it could enhance the speed of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis.

It seemed that the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis had slaughtered many more worlds along his way. Relying on their flesh and blood, he had gradually condensed this massive blood moon.

”Damn it!” Jiang Fan’s expression grew solemn.

Given the current speed of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis, he would catch up long before they could reach Nanqian. He had thought they had plenty of time, but who could have expected it to be this dangerous? And he had been completely unaware! Fortunately, Dharma Seal had checked for him; otherwise, he would still be kept in the dark.

What should he do now?

Dharma Seal suggested, ”Martial Granduncle, why not head to a nearby small world to hide for a bit? The nearest small world is only half a day away. That’s enough time to reach one of them!”

Jiang Fan shook his head, saying solemnly, ”It’s useless. The Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis can ignore world barriers and enter any world he pleases.”

Dharma Seal recalled the Holy Decree from the day Jiang Fan was named a Marquis, and a look of understanding appeared in his eyes. A Marquis of the Daqian Divine Kingdom could ignore world barriers. The reason he hadn’t dared to invade Central Earth before was likely due to his fear of the Ancient Saint of Cloud Desolation.

After pondering for a moment, his eyes flashed slightly. ”Martial Granduncle, you can only survive by seeking life in a deadly situation.”

Jiang Fan’s eyes darted, immediately catching on. ”You mean... the Sumeru Divine Prison?”

If there was any place nearby that even the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis would fear, it could only be the Sumeru Divine Prison!

He hurriedly unfurled the Void Map, searching for the coordinates on it. He quickly discovered that the Sumeru Divine Prison was only half a day’s journey from their current location. If luck was on their side, they should be able to reach the Sumeru Divine Prison before the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis caught up.

Although the Sumeru Divine Prison was also incredibly dangerous, it was still better than having another great battle with the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis!

”Let’s go!” Jiang Fan dared not delay, decisively speeding towards the Sumeru Divine Prison.

The Void reversed; thousands of miles of heaven and earth retreated beneath them. Jiang Fan rushed at lightning speed, racing against the clock. Dharma Seal, holding the Buddha Bowl, constantly monitored the location of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis.

”Only a distance of five two-hour periods remains.”

Jiang Fan’s heart jolted. Just a moment ago, they had half a day, but in the blink of an eye, only five two-hour periods remained. He clenched his teeth and sped forward.

”Four two-hour periods left.”

Hours later, Dharma Seal reported, ”Three two-hour periods left.”

Then, urgently, ”Two two-hour periods left!”

In truth, when only two two-hour periods remained, there was no longer any point in tracking him, because Jiang Fan could already see a faint crimson hue at the edge of the Void behind them. That was the light of the blood moon, projecting across the heavens.

Fortunately, with him pushing the Void Feather Robe to its absolute limit, they weren’t far from the Sumeru Divine Prison either!

One two-hour period later.

The sky behind them was a sheet of blood-red. A blood moon could be vaguely seen rising slowly like a sun amidst the heavens and earth.

An hour later.

The blood light projected forward, enveloping Jiang Fan within it. His heart pounded wildly. He’s about to catch up!

Two cups of tea later, the Void ahead of him was also dyed like blood. It was as if the entire world had plunged into an apocalypse! From behind, the CLOP CLOP CLOP of horse hooves could faintly be heard!

This wouldn’t do! At this rate, they simply wouldn’t make it in time!
