Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Xu Yun had heard everything Jian Shiwai said last night.

It didn’t matter to him whether she was just putting on an act, using her drunken state as an excuse to say what was on her mind, or if those were her true, unfiltered thoughts.

Because he had finally realized something, too.

It turned out that once his bank balance exceeded ten billion, he became a prime target in many people’s eyes—stared at, coveted, as if the money were theirs.

’Then again, it makes sense. With personal savings of, say, a hundred million, I wouldn’t be anything special in a crowd.’

’Maybe a billion would make me stand out a bit, earn me some attention.’

’But once I hit ten billion in cash savings, I’m probably considered exceedingly rare, even in a country as big as ours.’

’That must be a lot of pressure for Jian Shiwai.’

’She lacks confidence in herself, and in me, too.’

Xu Yun didn’t see himself as the kind of heartless guy who’d sleep with a woman and then cast her aside.

’Since she’s with me and has given herself to me, I have to take some responsibility for her, as long as she doesn’t mess up.’

’Of course, that responsibility was purely financial and material.’

’He had no intention of taking on any others.’

That was why he had taken the initiative to put her mind at ease that morning, telling her not to overthink things or worry about pressure from the bank’s upper management.

At the same time, he mentally prepared himself for a visit from the head of the bank branch.

In the world of banking, it’s simple: cash is king.

A good day starts in the afternoon.

Xu Yun woke up, performed a set of the Eight Pieces of Brocade, and headed out for a date.

As for who to date?

’No big deal. I’ll just close my eyes and randomly pick someone from my phone once I’m in the car.’

His search led him to Xino.

But when he called, he found out she wasn’t in town. She had gone to Shenzhen.

Xu Yun asked curiously, ”What are you doing in Shenzhen?”

”My dad asked me to come ring the bell.”

Xino explained with a laugh, ”I don’t know why he wanted me to be the one to ring it. I even saw Sister Fu in the audience. She invited me to visit Hong Kong Island for a few days.”

Xu Yun was speechless.

’Holy cow, the company’s already gone public!’

’In that case, Xino has truly become a young heiress, with a publicly listed company to her name.’

Xino asked hesitantly, ”Xu Yun, do you think I should go or not?”

”Go for it. Hong Kong Island is a lot of fun.”

”Since you said so, I’ll go have some fun for a few days. Don’t miss me too much, okay?”

Then, Xino laughed. ”Wait, no. You have so many women around you, you’ve got your hands full. You won’t have time to miss me.”

”I’ll miss you. Have fun.”

”Mm-hmm.”

After hanging up, Xu Yun called a few of his other women.

Unfortunately, they were all busy with their own ventures and had no time for him.

Xu Yun couldn’t help but sigh. ”If I’d known, I wouldn’t have given them so much to do. Now I’m left all alone.”

Just then, Lin Suiling called. She said she had arrived in Jiangcheng and wanted to see him about something important.

Xu Yun found a place for afternoon tea and sent her the address.

A short while later, a red Ferrari 488 pulled up downstairs and parked next to Xu Yun’s Female Warrior. The two cars created a striking scene in the bustling mall plaza.

Lin Suiling approached and sat down across from Xu Yun, smiling. ”How elegant of you, picking such a bustling place.”

”You don’t understand. I’m here to enjoy the local scenery.”

”Enjoying the local scenery” was Jiangcheng slang for checking out the beautiful women on the street.

”Do you really need to be out on the street to see beautiful women?”

Lin Suiling couldn’t help but laugh. ”Don’t you have enough beautiful women in your life already? Just call them all home. You could look at them all you want then.

You could stare as long as you want, any way you want.

And when you’re done looking... you could do whatever you want.”

Xu Yun teased with a smile, ”Does that offer include you?”

”If that’s what you want, then yes.”

Lin Suiling grinned. ”As long as you’re not afraid of me pressing charges afterward.”

”The most venomous poison is a woman’s heart.”

Lin Suiling was different from the other women in his life. Their relationship wasn’t clearly defined yet.

’Right now, we’re business partners who’ve had a one-night stand, at most.’

”So, what did you want to talk about today?”

Xu Yun asked tentatively, ”You’re not here to ask me for money, are you?”

”The money’s not urgent.”

As the conversation turned to business, Lin Suiling’s demeanor grew serious. ”Yan Can and I have finished the preliminary work. Now it’s time to buy land and build the factory.”

”You want me to find you a plot of land?”

”Yes.”

Lin Suiling nodded. ”It’s a bit tricky. Most of the land around Jiangcheng was snapped up and hoarded by developers years ago, so we can’t find a decent spot.”

Xu Yun fell silent.

’I’m a partner, after all, and I’m going to be the factory’s largest shareholder.’

’It wouldn’t seem right for me not to help, now that they’ve hit a snag building the factory.’

Xu Yun remembered the two-billion-yuan stalled real estate project he had taken over.

Back then, the officials had said the government would give him some land in exchange, to compensate for some of his losses.

’I just wonder if the government has transferred that land to Ning Qian’s real estate company yet.’

”Alright, let me make a call and ask.”

Xu Yun called Ning Qian and asked about the land.

Ning Qian didn’t quite understand what he was asking about.

Fortunately, one of her two assistants was there to answer. They confirmed that a batch of land from the government compensation deal had already been transferred to the company’s name. The plots varied in quality and location, some near and some far.
