Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: That’s Not Masculine Nature, That’s a Crime

Li Jinshu came to the office that morning looking for Xu Yun, but it turned out he wasn’t in.

A kind colleague pointed her in the right direction, and she ended up at Su Mu’s office.

This was her first time visiting her good friend’s company.

Li Jinshu sat down across from Su Mu and smiled. ”You actually have your own private office. I’m so jealous.”

”Got a lot of free time today?”

Su Mu poured her a cup of coffee. ”I can’t believe you have time to run over here for a chat.”

”Not really. I just finished up a contract negotiation with a client. I was driving by your building, so I thought I’d pop in and say hi.”

Li Jinshu said, ”I was actually thinking that since I’m free today, I could take Xu Yun over to Junhao Law Firm to get that agreement signed.”

”He’s not in today. He took the day off.”

Li Jinshu asked, ”What for?”

”How should I know?”

”Aren’t you his supervisor?”

Su Mu shot her a look. ”A supervisor doesn’t get involved in personal lives!”

”Is that so?”

Li Jinshu teased meaningfully, ”Then why did he order you that brown sugar ginger tea when you were on your period? How was it? Did it warm you up?”

”This is all your fault!”

Su Mu said helplessly, ”I’m honestly afraid you’re going to sell me out one of these days. You even told him about my period.”

”I’m doing this for your own good.”

Li Jinshu laughed. ”You’ve been divorced for almost two years. A woman who’s... been around the block, let’s say. You need a little romance to keep you vibrant, or the flower will wilt.”

”You should worry about yourself.”

Su Mu retorted, blushing, ”I’m not as desperate as you are. I’m perfectly fine on my own, thank you very much.”

”I’m serious.”

Li Jinshu tried to persuade her. ”Look, Xu Yun is handsome, he has money, he’s a nice guy, and he’s a little into you. You could have a secret office romance. A little behind-the-scenes flirting at work... just think how exciting that would be.”

”If you’re that horny, go find a man for yourself.”

Su Mu shot her another look. ”Don’t come here with all your lewd talk.”

Just as the two of them were chatting, Xu Yun walked into the office.

He wasn’t just some nobody anymore.

After buying coffee for everyone a few times, their attitudes toward him had warmed up considerably. People kept greeting him all the way to his desk.

He returned each greeting and said with a smile, ”I ordered coffee. Don’t forget to grab some for yourselves later.”

His announcement was met with a chorus of ”thank yous.”

He made his way to Su Mu’s office and knocked on the door.

”Come in.”

The moment he walked in, he said, ”Sister Su, at worst this counts as being late, not taking a day off. You can’t dock too much of my pay.”

He had just finished speaking when he saw Li Jinshu sitting inside.

”What are you doing here?”

”I came here just for you.”

Li Jinshu stood up and said with a smile, ”Why don’t you just take the day off? I’ll take you to the law firm to sign that agreement.”

”That works, but I’ll need Manager Su’s approval.”

Xu Yun looked at Su Mu and sighed. ”Otherwise she’ll dock my perfect attendance bonus again. It’s not easy for me to make a living, you know.”

”Go on. I’ll let it slide this time.”

Su Mu said, feigning a cold and professional tone, ”But not again. The company has rules and regulations.”

”Understood, Manager Su.”

Seeing Su Mu’s strictly business attitude today, Xu Yun wasn’t foolish enough to believe it was just because of her period anymore.

’She clearly has a problem with me.’

’But I haven’t done anything to offend her!’

’What’s her problem?!’

’Before, I might have wondered where I went wrong and tried to smooth things over.’

’But now, I’m not going to put up with this from any woman.’

’I don’t care who she is.’

So, without saying anything more to Su Mu, he turned directly to Li Jinshu and said, ”Let’s go.”

”...”

’What’s gotten into these two?’

After leaving the office, Li Jinshu drove the company car with Xu Yun toward Junhao Law Firm.

On the way, Li Jinshu asked curiously, ”What’s going on between you and Su Mu?”

”How should I know? She just suddenly started acting this way yesterday.”

Xu Yun shot back, ”You don’t know?”

”I have no idea.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”Isn’t it because of her period?”

”...”

’A period might make someone irritable, but it wouldn’t completely change their attitude.’

’The way Su Mu treated Xu Yun just now was like he was a regular colleague, or even a stranger. Not like a friend.’

”Don’t mind her. She can be a bit of a contradiction.”

Li Jinshu thought for a moment before offering an analysis. ”She probably thinks you’re interested in her, but since she doesn’t want to be in a relationship right now, she’s deliberately drawing a line between you two.”

”Really?” Xu Yun asked.

”This just shows you don’t understand women.”

Li Jinshu said deliberately, ”A woman only acts like this when she starts to care about someone. So, maybe she has feelings for you, too. You should be a little bolder sometimes, show your manly side.”

”For example?”

”For example, next time you could just charge into her office and forcefully kiss her.”

Xu Yun rolled his eyes. ”You’re a real great best friend to her, aren’t you.”

’That’s not being manly, that’s committing a crime!’

’If I actually listened to her crazy advice, I’d be kissing her in the morning and getting locked up in a cell by the afternoon!’

Soon, the two of them arrived at Junhao Law Firm.

The firm occupied an entire floor of a luxury office building in the Jiangcheng CBD.

Since they had called ahead, a receptionist led them to Luo Dongxu’s office as soon as they arrived.

”Lawyer Luo, I brought him.”

Li Jinshu gestured to the man beside her. ”This is Xu Yun, the client I mentioned.”

”Mr. Xu, a pleasure.”

Luo Dongxu stood up. ”I’m one of the lawyers here, Luo Dongxu. I believe Jinshu has already told you about me.”

”She has.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Lawyer Luo, when can we sign the agreement?”

”We can do it right now. Just a moment.”

Luo Dongxu hadn’t expected him to be in such a rush. He immediately asked his assistant to fetch the agreement.

A moment later, two copies of the agreement were brought in and placed in front of Xu Yun.

Xu Yun picked one up and signed it without even looking at it.

Luo Dongxu asked with a smile, ”Mr. Xu, aren’t you going to read it first?”

”There’s no need.”

Xu Yun replied, ”Besides, if top-tier lawyers like you really wanted to screw me over on the contract, a layman like me wouldn’t be able to spot it anyway.”

”That’s absolutely not going to happen.”

Luo Dongxu said, ”I have a general understanding of your case. I happen to be free for the next few days, so I’ll get right on it. My assistant may contact you from time to time for some case-related documents. I hope you’ll be able to provide them.”

”No problem. Any time.”

Xu Yun said, ”I only have one demand: one hundred sixty-six thousand. I want every last cent of it back.”

”Not a problem.”

Luo Dongxu said confidently, ”Don’t worry, Mr. Xu. I’ll make sure it gets done.”

After signing the agreement, Xu Yun transferred 500,000 to the firm’s account as stipulated in the contract.

His phone vibrated. It was a text from his bank.

Xu Yun looked at the 1,830,000 balance on his card, his heart filled with sweet satisfaction.

’Other than the time I bought the house, this was the second major cash reward from the system.’

’Does this mean...’

’I can start thinking about buying a car?’
