Chapter 552: Chapter 365: New Chess Souls (2)

Wang Yi spoke in a low voice as he made his move, launching a counterattack with the power of the Monkey King and the Great Five Elements Divine Seal.

The three ”Purple-robed Elders” couldn’t fire their Rocket Cannons continuously. Their movements were stiff; aside from firing their cannons, they had no other combat abilities, nor could they Escape. Wang Yi quickly eliminated them.

After being eliminated, their bodies likewise exploded, transforming into Chess Souls.

Upon becoming Chess Souls, however, they instantly regained their senses and all began to thank Wang Yi.

”Xue An Kang ambushed us and turned us into puppets, into living specimens! We were trapped in a state where we could neither live nor die. Thanks to your help, though our bodies have perished, our souls are now free!”

”That man, Xue An Kang, is insidious and despicable—a true fiend. Please, be extremely careful when you fight him!”

”He hides within space-time. Watch out for his ambushes!”

The three Purple-robed Elders, now Chess Souls, warned Wang Yi.

Wang Yi kept his eyes peeled, surveying his surroundings. He raised his right hand, once again condensing a small, five-colored mountain in midair.

Just then, a new Combat Puppet appeared. It was a level-600 burly man, shirtless, with a fierce tiger tattooed on his chest and a Divine Dragon on his back. He was actually driving a ”convertible tank”!

’A level-600 expert was turned into a Combat Puppet by Xue An Kang! If I’m no match for him and he captures me, will I be turned into one of these puppets, too?’

Wang Yi pondered this, but his strike was merciless. With a wave of his sleeve, he unleashed the Great Five Elements Divine Seal and crushed the level-600 man and his convertible tank.

In truth, the convertible tank was also a powerful technological weapon, but it never got a chance to prove it.

The level-600 man quickly became a Chess Soul and flew into the spectator stands. He let out a great laugh, then cupped his fist to Wang Yi. ”I am Daoist Tong Shun! Fellow Daoist, I implore you to slay Xue An Kang! He is hiding in a temporarily created Different Dimension Space-Time. He will certainly reveal himself in three breaths!”

”Thank you for the warning!”

Wang Yi returned the courteous gesture. With a single thought, the river of Sword Qi swirled to cover the entire Chessboard Battlefield. He pointed his right hand to the sky, and another five-colored mountain appeared. This mountain expanded rapidly, glowing with a brilliant, five-colored light!

At that moment, space rippled in midair as if it were evaporating mist. Dr. Magic, Xue An Kang, appeared. His expression was grave, but he raised both hands and shouted to Wang Yi, ”Hold on! Can we call a truce?”

Wang Yi ignored him. With a thought, the river of Sword Qi swept forward, and the Great Five Elements Divine Seal struck out as well.

Xue An Kang could traverse space, dodging as if by teleportation, but he was starting to look haggard. He shouted as he dodged, ”I’m an Elder of the Ultimate Divine Country and a member of the Other Shore Club! I’m also the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Black Whistle Empire! If we keep fighting, the outcome is still uncertain. If you stop now, I’m willing to give you a huge fortune. What do you say?”

Wang Yi paid him no mind and continued his assault. He found that neither the Six-Character True Mantra True Demon Spell nor the Body Stabilization Technique could pin down Xue An Kang. The man was slippery, as if he could walk between the illusory and the real, making him incredibly difficult to hit.

”Xue An Kang’s body is a liquid robot! It has no special powers or defenses of its own. He relies on technology to travel through space—his staff and the watch on his wrist are advanced scientific instruments! To kill him, you need to lock down space-time! It would be best to use a space-based finishing move!”

Daoist Tong Shun shouted to Wang Yi.

Upon hearing this, Wang Yi seemed to have a realization. He continued his attack, but at the same time, he placed his right hand behind his back, ready to unleash Panwu’s Great Power Divine Techniques at a moment’s notice.

After about three minutes, Xue An Kang seemed to grow agitated. He reappeared in midair and said in a low voice, ”This fight is meaningless! If you stop now, I’ll give you a hundred billion Star Yuan!”

Wang Yi replied, ”This doesn’t end until one of us is dead!”

”Hmph! You’re a real devil!”

Xue An Kang snorted. After being hounded for nearly half an hour, he finally couldn’t take it anymore. He appeared again and yelled, ”You can’t beat me, and I can’t beat you! Stop, and I’ll give you a great fortuitous opportunity...”

”Now!”

Before Xue An Kang could finish his sentence, Wang Yi swung his right hand. A colossal axe shadow materialized, blazing with unstoppable, brilliant light. It tore through the void, as if splitting heaven and earth asunder.

”What is that?!”

Xue An Kang was horrified. He waved his staff to travel through the void, but the void itself was instantly split apart. The next moment, a massive, silent spatial rift appeared in the sky.

Within the rift, bolts of lightning flashed, but there was no sound of thunder.

Two halves of a body slid out of the spatial rift and fell to the ground. Upon impact, they became two lumps of molten metal.

A streak of light flew into the spectator stands, transforming into a skinny, white-haired old man. This man had triangular eyes, a hunched back, a stooped waist, and a craned neck, giving him a thoroughly wretched appearance.

It was none other than Dr. Magic, Xue An Kang.

Or rather, this was his true form.

”I... I was actually killed? How is that possible? I still had so many tricks up my sleeve!”

Xue An Kang muttered to himself, his expression complex.

The Battle Banner on the summit of Hundred Battle Mountain was gone. To die in battle here meant you would no longer resurrect at Windless Cliff. It was a true death.

Xue An Kang had never imagined he would die in battle. He looked up at the colossal, armored figure in the center of the battlefield, his heart filled with venomous resentment.

”Congratulations on your death, Xue An Kang!”

From the stands, Daoist Tong Shun waved at Xue An Kang, his expression cold and severe.

”Those who kill will be killed in turn. You’ve done nothing but evil; this was long overdue!”

”Hahahaha! So you finally got what was coming to you, Xue An Kang!”

The group of Players who Xue An Kang had turned into Combat Puppets felt a deep sense of catharsis. If Chess Souls had physical bodies and could fight, they would have swarmed him and beaten him to a pulp.

Back on the Chessboard Battlefield, Wang Yi dismissed the Great Five Elements Mountain God Battle Armor and recalled his Starlight Flying Sword.

His expression was calm as he looked up at the sky. The Heaven-Opening Law had shattered the chessboard’s dimension, and the rift in the sky continued to expand.

In the blink of an eye, the Chessboard Battlefield shattered. Wang Yi found himself back in the old castle shop atop Hundred Battle Mountain, and a system prompt rang in his mind: ”Ding! You have obtained some special spoils of war!”

’Special spoils of war?’

Wang Yi’s interest was piqued. In past battles, he had always collected the loot himself; there were never any system prompts.

The system prompt continued: ”Ding! Congratulations on obtaining one Fourth Ark Treasure Coupon, one Hundred Battles Treasure Manual, and one Space-Time Compass. These three items were dropped by Player Xue An Kang. By killing Xue An Kang, you have obtained ownership of these three items. Commencing item binding...”

”Ding! Binding successful. The Fourth Ark Treasure Coupon, Hundred Battles Treasure Manual, and Space-Time Compass are now your personal items. They are untradeable and will be dropped upon death.”

After the system prompts ended, three items materialized out of thin air in front of Wang Yi.

Wang Yi examined them. The first item was the [Fourth Ark Treasure Coupon]. It was a voucher that could be exchanged for one Secret Treasure in the Fourth Ark’s system store, and it could only be activated within that specific store.

And at this moment, the coupon was already active.

’It seems Hundred Battle Mountain really is part of the Fourth Ark!’

With this realization, Wang Yi checked the item list in the old castle’s shop again. Sure enough, a hidden Secret Treasure tab had appeared, displaying three hidden Secret Treasures: [Ark Engine Design Map], [Grand Unification Theory Foundation], and [Treasure Body Universe Scripture Interpretation].

’These three Secret Treasures look pretty impressive...’

Wang Yi murmured aloud. Unfortunately, the Secret Treasure page had no descriptions, making it impossible for him to judge their true value.

Furthermore, the Secret Treasure selection could be refreshed. The next refresh was in ten days.

’Ark Engine Design Map, Grand Unification Theory Foundation, Treasure Body Universe Scripture Interpretation... None of these three Secret Treasures seem to be a good fit for me. If I’m going to use the coupon, I should probably wait for the selection to refresh.’

With this in mind, Wang Yi put away the Treasure Exchange Coupon and looked at the second spoil of war: the Hundred Battles Treasure Manual.

[Hundred Battles Treasure Manual: Special Item. Records your one hundred battles on Hundred Battle Mountain, creating combat diagrams and detailed battle analyses.
