Chapter 1050: Lack of Belief

”The call vanished,” Kyle told Sebastian.

”I can tell,” Sebastian answered. ”My Elemental no longer has the desire to go west. Are you thinking the same thing as me?”

”The Barrier Formation Array is gone?” Kyle asked.

Sebastian nodded. ”Yep, and I think all the other ones are gone as well. I think we were right.”

”The Ascension Pools,” Kyle said.

Sebastian nodded again. ”They probably tried to deal with them without destroying them or abandoning their position. I think they overloaded the Formation Arrays.”

”Well, since we seem to be on the right course, we should wait. I donʼt think there will be more than ten years until the next Ascender appears. No matter how things go...”

”I donʼt think the Formation Arrays will return. If they die, nobody will rebuild them. If they succeed, they wonʼt care about them. After all, in their mind, freedom is close.”

”Most likely, yes,” Sebastian confirmed. ”So, weʼre going to wait for another ten years?”

”Yep, just to be safe.”
The two of them started waiting, and out of boredom, Kyle looked at the Elemental Dimension.

The Elemental Energies were slowly being refilled by the Supreme World. It would still take about a thousand years for them to return to a normal level, but Kyle could already see the first new Elementals.

Before they knew it, ten years had passed.

The Formation Arrays did not return.

”If weʼre right, this basically confirms it,” Kyle said. ”The Overseer is still alive, and theyʼve probably comprehended the Law of Minor Death. If they were dead, one of us would have already received the offer to become Overseer.”

”I think weʼre in the clear. As long as we donʼt leave my Elemental, nothing crazy will happen. You said that itʼs not easy to get past the World Wall with False Death, right?”

Sebastian nodded. ”The Parasites get their Death from one of the Harbingers. Itʼs not just raw Death but Death in the form of something resembling a Formation Array. The Parasites get some Death for their own uses, but they always have to keep the specialized Death for their mission.”

”If the Parasites simply use regular Death, the World Wall will notice and attack them. There are ways to inject Death into the World Wall without the world noticing, but itʼs apparently insanely complex. The Harbingers deliver the specialized Death, but not even they can produce it. They get their specialized Death from the Lords and simply distribute it to the Parasites.”

”If getting past the World Wall is already so difficult with real Death, how hard is it with False Death? You would probably need a Lord to come personally, and they would probably need a long time to find a way.”

”If you make just a slight misstep, the world will immediately end you. If everything works out, you might not even need to fight the Overseer.”

”Kinda crazy,” Kyle said. ”I thought I was the one thatʼs supposed to kill the Overseer, but from what I can see, Swamp Dragonʼs schemes have a higher chance of succeeding. I wonder, if Manny had thrown caution to the wind and ignored all costs, could he have done that?”

”Definitely,” Sebastian answered. ”I think, if Manny had gone all out, the Overseer would already be dead.”

”But then, why didnʼt he?” Kyle asked with furrowed brows. ”I thought he wanted to free Ayuvar.”

”Thatʼs the thing, Kyle. He wanted to free Ayuvar, not an empty world,” Sebastian said. ”Swamp Dragon got the weird inheritance, but he is still a different person with different values. You know Swamp Dragon. That guy is insane! He will stop at nothing to fix something that he perceives as wrong!”

”He might know that youʼre still alive, but he would also be fine with your death. We planned for you to fuse with an Elemental and the Demon Car. There was a chance that you would gain the ability to travel to the Elemental Dimension, but it was definitely not a certainty.”

”Also, Iʼm pretty fucking sure that he didnʼt expect me or Star Genesis to survive. In order to get rid of the Overseer, he basically abandoned us without hesitation. If it were Manny, he would have at least asked us first.”

Kyle furrowed his brows.

He had to agree with what Sebastian had said.

But there was still something that didnʼt seem to fit completely.

”If you think Manny could have already gotten rid of the Overseer, and if you think Swamp Dragon has received Mannyʼs abilities, why isnʼt the Overseer dead yet? Swamp Dragon isnʼt holding himself back, right?” Kyle asked.

”Not sure,” Sebastian answered. ”Maybe he still needs some time. Alternatively, maybe he is actually holding out. For example, the Elemental Dimension was spared from the apocalypse, right? If someone told me that I needed to create a dead world, I would automatically assume that includes the Elemental Dimension.”

”I mean, Swamp Dragon would die as well, assuming heʼs in the Elemental Dimension,” Kyle said as he scratched the side of his head.

”Dude, do you think Swamp Dragon would give a shit?” Sebastian asked with a snort.

Kyle frowned. ”Probably not. Yeah, no, definitely not.”

”There you go,” Sebastian commented. ”I think Swamp Dragon is planning the same thing as Manny but in reverse. To Manny, you were the first option while, for Swamp Dragon, youʼre the last option. I think Manny just believed in you much more.”

”Possible,” Kyle answered as his brows furrowed.

ʼI know that my chances of success are super low, but for some reason, the thought that Swamp Dragon doesnʼt believe in me irks me. Itʼs super weird. Itʼs like, I know that I canʼt lift this huge bar filled with weights, but if someone else says that I canʼt lift it, it still annoys me.ʼ

Kyle shook his head. ʼDonʼt be a baby! If Swamp Dragon doesnʼt believe in you, show him! If our assumptions are correct, weʼve got thousands upon thousands of years of free comprehension time! If there ever was a time to focus on comprehending Laws, itʼs now!ʼ

”So, Laws, am I right?” Kyle asked with a grin.

”Quite a sudden change in topic, but sure, Iʼm game,” Sebastian answered with a laugh. ”I hope there are still some Major Lightning Elements left. Otherwise, this will become fucking boring.”

”Youʼre fine with me focusing on the remaining Spacetime Elements first?” Kyle asked.

”Yeah, no problem. I can just send my Elemental. I donʼt even need to be there,” Sebastian answered with a dismissive wave.

”Sounds great!” Kyle shouted before he ordered his Elemental to travel towards the east. Since the Barrier Formation Array was gone, Kyle didnʼt need to remain in the eastern part of the world anymore. However, the density of powerful Elementals was still far higher to the east. With time, the distribution would shift, but that would take a while.

For now, the east was still the place to go for comprehending Laws.

ʼLetʼs see how much I can comprehend before the world changes yet again!ʼ
