Chapter 759 - Changing Mind

ʼGravity!ʼ

ʼThe Level Four Laws of Gravity Wind, Gravity Fire, and Gravity Metal all include aspects of Gravity, and since I have to learn them anyway, I will also learn several things about Gravity.ʼ

ʼIf I extrapolate how Gravity affects three different Elements, I can probably learn a couple of Fragments of Gravity. Then, I can fuse some of the Fragments like Warp Space has done. Like that, I would get a half-baked Gravity Complex Law.ʼ

ʼNo, wait! As a Sage, I would also come into contact with Space Laws. I need some of those to actually teleport. Might as well combine both of them, and while Iʼm at it, I could also look into the Time Laws.ʼ

ʼIf I just combine a bunch of these Fragments, I can infuse one of my Aspects with them.ʼ

ʼI think Iʼll change my plan again. Iʼm not putting my Law of Meteor into my Soul but into my mind. The three fundamental Laws of Time, Space, and Gravity are everywhere in the world, and my Soul interacts with the world. If I could just warp reality with my Soul, I would be able to increase the speed of my attacks severalfold!ʼ

ʼGravity pulls my hammer and enemy together. Space shrinks the distance. Time makes my hammer move faster. Like this, I can make use of my surroundings!ʼ

Kyle smirked. ʼFinally, I got a plan!ʼ

Then, he took out his Communicator and put on an alarm.

ʼI should try to recycle my Law of Meteor first. It shouldnʼt take too long since the Law is so weak. I can probably achieve some success with it in two weeks.ʼ

Kyle burrowed into the ground before sitting down.

Next, he summoned the Essence of his Law of Meteor.

The Essence was a dark red, and as he saw it, he was reminded of his time in the Tertiary World.

Next, Kyle pulled a small strand out of the Essence and shoved it into his mind.

As soon as the small strand entered his mind, Kyleʼs mind became chaotic.

He felt immense pain, and his thoughts stopped making sense.

Within an instant, his instincts kicked in and shoved the strand back out.

His instincts had viewed the strand as an invader and protected Kyle by getting rid of it.

ʼYep, that wasnʼt right,ʼ Kyle thought as he took the same strand and shoved it into his mind in a different manner.

This time, Kyle became unreasonably angry and rushed out of the ground to fight something, but before he could get anywhere, his instincts shoved the strand out again.

After calming down, Kyle went even deeper into the ground.

ʼAlright, gotta be a bit more careful. I canʼt just run around and kill shit.ʼ

Every time Kyle put the strand into his mind, something peculiar happened.

However, after a couple more tries, he got a result that was acceptable.

His body felt restless. He wanted to go out and do something. Destroy stuff! Kill stuff! Hit something! Anything but just sitting around!

ʼI can work with that,ʼ he thought as his body jittered slightly.

Kyleʼs instincts were not completely happy with how things were right now, but he forcefully kept them suppressed.

Then, he grabbed another strand and infused it into a couple of other parts of his mind.

After a couple more chaotic incidents, Kyle found another acceptable way to infuse the strand.

This time, he felt a bit lethargic.

ʼThe mix is weird,ʼ Kyle thought. ʼI feel like I have to do something, but I also feel like Iʼm lacking the motivation to do something. Is that how people with depression or ADHD feel?ʼ

ʼAnyway, Iʼm learning a bunch of new stuff about how my mind works, and I think I can refine the implementation of my Law a bit more.ʼ

Kyle grabbed the next strand, and some time later, his mentality changed again.

ʼNow, thereʼs also impatience. Like, I want to do something, but I donʼt want to do it, and the process of not doing the thing I want to do is too slow. I want to not do anything faster, which is fucking weird.ʼ

This time, Kyle decided to move the strands that were already in his mind around a bit.

More chaotic incidents happened, but most of the time, the three strands kept each other in check somewhat.

After around two hours, Kyle found a pretty useful combination.

ʼMy lethargy changed to decisiveness. I only want to do something if Iʼm convinced that itʼs the right thing to do. My chaotic need to move around changed to conviction. I want to use all of my power on something I want to do. My impatience changed to motivation. I want to grow and keep working.ʼ

As Kyle listened to his instincts, he found that they were also fine with that combination.

ʼThis looks pretty good so far. It only took half a day, but Iʼve already integrated about 1% of the Essence.ʼ

Kyle grabbed the next strand and put it into his mind.

After a couple more incidents, he became annoyed.

ʼI feel like any kind of disturbance would make me explode. My instincts arenʼt fine with the current change, but itʼs fine for now.ʼ

Another strand.

This time, Kyle also felt stressed. Now, instead of lashing out, he felt like he might also start crying if someone annoyed him.

Another strand.

Carelessness. Kyle just didnʼt give a shit anymore. So what if something happened? What would it change anyway?

Then, he moved the three strands around again, and after another half a day, he got a good result.

ʼThe target of my annoyance has shifted. Instead of focusing on anything, it only focuses on things that might stop me from achieving my goal. The stress transformed into a feeling of achievement. Yes, it is a lot of work, but the difficulties I feel right now will pay off. The carelessness transformed into apathy targeted at things that arenʼt important.ʼ

ʼThis is actually working out pretty well.ʼ

Kyle took out more strands and experimented more with them.

The more strands he included in his mind, the less of an impact they had.

Previous strands were pushing him towards a certain mindset, and the newer strands first had to pull Kyle away from that direction.

The chaotic incidents became less frequent, giving Kyle more opportunities to observe how the strands affected his mind.

The experiments continued until…

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Kyle was pulled out of his thoughts and instinctively dispersed the strands he wasnʼt certain about.

He looked at his Communicator and realized that his alarm had gone off.

ʼTwo weeks have passed,ʼ he thought before looking at the Essence in front of him.

The Essence had shrunken by quite a bit. Most likely, he had already incorporated 30% of the Essence.

ʼSurprisingly, the speed of my incorporation is actually increasing instead of decreasing.ʼ

ʼIf Iʼm lucky, I can actually incorporate the entire thing before the battle happens.ʼ

ʼAnyway, I promised Swamp Dragon that we would meet again after two weeks. The Communicators donʼt work here since there are no Formation Arrays in the Beast Dimension to forward the signals. I actually have to meet him in person.ʼ

ʼLetʼs get this over with.ʼ
