Rising from Small Cloud Rain Technique

Guu Tai instinctively held his breath. When an expert takes action, you immediately know their skill; a peculiar aura emanated from the person while scribing the Talisman, carrying a unique beauty.

This aura is quite special, only appearing in Cultivators with extremely exquisite craftsmanship.

Cultivators who customize Talisman Brushes perform tests on-site, and such skilled Talisman Makers in Red Rock Immortal City can be counted on one hand.

When a Talisman takes shape, it emits waves of Magical Power, and the strength of these waves can determine the Talismans’ quality.

Though not a Talisman Maker himself, having seen many, he has quite an understanding of Talisman Making, as all successfully made Pan Mountain Talismans have reached a Top-Grade Level.

It’s not just about having good materials to produce a Top-grade Talisman. Many Cultivators, whose skills aren’t up to par, end up with Top-grade or even Middle-grade Talismans despite using Top-Grade Level materials.

Ji An picked up the brush, dipped it in Talisman Ink, and injected Magical Power into the Talisman Brush at a steady pace.

The flame patterns on the dark red pen seemed to ignite, with a muted brilliance like water light undulating.

The ink’s scarlet Spirit Light was abundant, and after the pen’s movements, the Fire Element Spiritual Energy surged and then quickly retracted, with the talisman characters’ light flickering like dancing flames.

Ji An put down the Talisman Brush, carefully picked up the Fire Dragon Talisman with both hands, examined it closely, and flicked it, producing a rustling sound.

”Fellow Daoist Guu, please take a look.”

Guu Tai took the Fire Dragon Talisman, carefully sensing the magical power waves contained within.

A moment later, with a complex expression, he said:

”Alas, Fellow Daoist, your skills are close to the Dao. Using such a brush to draw a Tier Two Top-grade Talisman, I’m no match.”

The brush strokes for painting the talisman were achieved in a single flourish, movements like flowing clouds and flowing water, natural and harmonious.

Ji An smiled, implicitly accepting the compliment.

Talisman making and spell casting are different but share many commonalities. A deep understanding of magic techniques gives a significant advantage in drawing the same kind of talisman.

In terms of understanding magic techniques, he considers himself unmatched among his tier, as he hasn’t encountered any Cultivator rivaling his depth in magic techniques thus far.

”Very well, making a new friend today, we won’t part until drunk.

By the way, which type of Earth Element Talisman does Fellow Daoist excel at drawing?”

”Earth Escape Talisman.”

Guu Tai returned the talisman, adding:

”Once the Talisman Brush is refined, I’d like to commission a Fire Dragon Talisman and an Earth Escape Talisman each, for purchase and collection.”

”Why talk about purchasing, I’ll gift them to Fellow Daoist.”

Guu Tai hurriedly waved his hand, saying:

”Don’t be like that. We artisans all have costs, we can’t break the rules.”

It’s best to keep accounts clear, lest later on when the other comes for refining a Spiritual Artifact and asks for a discount, the refusal won’t look good.

Ji An nodded and smiled, ”Then let’s do as Fellow Daoist suggests.”

Being indebted in favors is a murky account; clarifying it is better, as once he returns to the Sect, there’s a high chance the favors here won’t be used again.

”How should the remuneration be paid?”

”Pay half upfront, and the rest when picking up the items.”

Ji An took out a Top-grade Spirit Stone, and after Guu Tai caught it, he said:

”Customizing a Talisman Brush requires some tests, asking Fellow Daoist for cooperation.”

A smile appeared on his face; it was time to show his professionalism.

Guu Tai took out a thick white jade pillar, three feet long, and proudly explained:

”This Spiritual Artifact is a family heirloom. Inspired by the Spirit-Sensing Pillar used to measure aptitude by my ancestors, it was refined over years into this Tier Two Middle-grade auxiliary Spiritual Artifact.

It can test the strength of the Spiritual Power output by Talisman Makers, maximizing their individual strengths.

Fellow Daoist, place your hand on the Spiritual Artifact and continuously input Magical Power rapidly.”

Ji An raised an eyebrow, doing as told with interest.

As he input Magical Power, the jade pillar lit up with brilliance from bottom to top, displaying circles of golden patterns on the pillar.

Guu Tai placed a blank Jade Slip on his forehead, observing the pillar while recording information.

”Alright, now Fellow Daoist, please simulate the Spiritual Power input situation of drawing a Fire Dragon Talisman, I want to see the magic power fluctuations during the Talisman’s progression.”

”Alright, please switch to simulating another Talisman.”

”According to what Fellow Daoist can handle, perform the fastest Magical Power output and maintain it for a quarter hour.”

With many requests from the other party, Ji An complied with each, busy for half an hour, and finally, the test was completed.

He felt the other side was quantifying certain parameters in a ’scientific way,’ and whether that was the case would be revealed once the Talisman Brush was refined.

Guu Tai carefully reviewed the recorded information, thoroughly shocked, deducing the other’s capabilities from the data, completely beyond what a Talisman Maker could possess.

He collected his expression, put away the Jade Slip, and solemnly said:

”You can come to pick it up in half a month, I guarantee Fellow Daoist will be extremely pleased with the Talisman Brush.”

”I look forward to it.”

Ji An replied with a smile, understanding the meaning of ’customization’ from the other’s series of actions.

”Haha, the test is complete, let’s set off; it’s the season to catch Treasure Dragon Fish, and now the most delicious thing in the Drunken Immortal Inn is the fragrant pan-fried Treasure Dragon Fish.”

”Then it might cost Fellow Daoist.”

”Cost what, meeting Fellow Daoist is a joyous occasion, today we’ll drink freely.”

Ji An suddenly thought of something and said:

”Wait a moment, I’d like to show Fellow Daoist something.”

He took out a pile of broken red Armor Plates and continued:

”I once saw a Cultivator form armor from these plates, thought it was pretty neat.”

He described Yuan Hong’s situation at the time and asked:

”What type of Armor is this, might Fellow Daoist know how to refine it?”

The defense of Spirit Armor is much stronger than a Daoist Robe, and he also wants to have one.
