Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 47: Chapter 15: Soul Reaper

Night, the bright moon hangs high.

District 14, at the center of the West Street District.

This place is notorious throughout Tokyo City. Whenever night falls, it becomes a small gathering place for ghouls.

The ghouls gathered here are the thugs among ghouls. Their purpose is simple, to engage in mutual slaughter and shared eating to stand out among the many ordinary ghouls.

The status among ghouls is nothing more than a measure of strength.

The current time is around eight-thirty in the evening, and shadows flicker now and then on both sides of the street. Most ghouls are itching to have a go.

A man and a woman walk along the street. Compared to those sneaky ghouls, the two have no intention of hiding at all.

”Associate Special Class Bai Ye, are you sure this is okay?”

Maniwa Haruo, holding a briefcase and wearing a black uniform, looks around nervously.

”Ha~.” Su Xiao yawns.

”No problem, follow the ’plan’.”

Unlike the tense Maniwa Haruo, Su Xiao is completely relaxed.

”Associate Special Class Bai Ye, I’ve always had a question.”

”Hmm?”

”Where is your Kuingke? We might have to fight ghouls soon....”

Su Xiao doesn’t have any Kuingke; compared to Kuingke, he prefers to use ”Dragon Slash.”

”I don’t need Kuingke.”

Hearing Su Xiao’s words, Maniwa Haruo suddenly stops, looking at Su Xiao in confusion.

”Don’t need Kuingke?”

Maniwa Haruo’s voice clearly rises, looking somewhat doubtful about her life.

”Here we are, Haruo. You just stand here.”

Su Xiao pats Maniwa Haruo on the shoulder, then dashes forward a few steps, jumping onto the roof of a second-floor building by the street, disappearing into the night.

”Bai Ye~, Associate Special Class?”

The Kuingke in Maniwa Haruo’s hand nearly slips to the ground; she vaguely guesses Su Xiao’s plan.

She’s now become bait.

As a second-level investigator, Maniwa Haruo can at most drive away Level B to A ghouls. If she encounters an A-Rank Ghoul, Maniwa Haruo might be overwhelmed.

Now Maniwa Haruo feels as if Su Xiao has forcefully stripped her and thrown her directly into an icy wilderness.

Just as Maniwa Haruo thinks about running, several blood-red eyes appear in the surrounding darkness.

One, two, three... a total of seven ghouls.

She’s doomed. If Su Xiao doesn’t save her, she’s definitely doomed.

Maniwa Haruo presses the button on her briefcase handle, and her Kuingke appears, resembling a kind of whip, called Amauz.

”Ghoul Investigator!”

”How can there be an investigator here?”

”Just kill her; it’s not shared eating time yet. I’ve never tasted an investigator.”

For some reason, the surrounding ghouls don’t seem to be turning against each other, and their shared eating actually has a specific time.

It seems the shared eating situation in the West Street District is definitely not self-organized by ghouls.

There seems to be some force maintaining it; otherwise, these ghouls wouldn’t start slaughtering each other at nine o’clock.

This should be some kind of selection method, where the ghoul that stands out among many can join a certain force.

”Attack, this woman isn’t strong. There’s no dangerous feeling.”

The ghouls gather more and more, from a few to over a dozen.

Maniwa Haruo already feels utterly cold inside; now, she doesn’t even have a chance to escape.

”Looks like the effect is good.”

Su Xiao’s voice comes from the rooftop beside the street.

Hearing Su Xiao’s voice, Maniwa Haruo lets out a long sigh of relief, though she’s still uncertain inside. Can this newly joined CCG investigator really handle so many ghouls, even though it’s said he’s very strong?

”Who are you.”

”Another ghoul investigator?”

Over a dozen ghouls surrounding Maniwa Haruo look at Su Xiao warily.

Su Xiao feels different to them than Maniwa Haruo does, a complete predator’s feeling.

Holding the already unsheathed ”Dragon Slash,” Su Xiao jumps down from a few meters high rooftop, landing steadily.

”Fourteen ghouls, about five minutes.”

Su Xiao strides towards the numerous ghouls, his pace accelerating before finally turning into a sprint.

Two notably clever ghouls immediately sense something amiss, turning to run, while the remaining twelve ghouls head straight for Su Xiao.

Ten Scale He and Tail Heko strike at Su Xiao.

In this instant, Su Xiao is almost enveloped by Heko.

Seeing this scene, Maniwa Haruo is shocked, charging at an A-Rank Ghoul with her Kuingke.

This is already Maniwa Haruo’s maximum capability; even facing an A-Rank Ghoul, Maniwa Haruo might not be able to handle it.

The dark red Heko envelops Su Xiao, and the glittering blade light cuts through the night.

Su Xiao activates ”Blue Steel Shadow,” consuming Mana Value at a rate of 2 points per minute.

The ten Heko are instantly severed, the broken Heko turning into red mist, dissipating in the air.

The ghouls with severed Heko emit a scream, looking at Su Xiao with fear.

Su Xiao quickly charges towards an A-Rank Ghoul, ”Dragon Slash” leaving a faint blue-white line in the air.

A head flies to the sky.

With just one encounter, the ghoul is brutally slain by Su Xiao, decisively and efficiently executed.

Su Xiao’s rapid advance doesn’t stop; with a wrong step, he charges towards a nearby ghoul.

Perhaps it was too clean how the companion died, this ghoul froze on the spot.

After freezing for a second, the ghoul turns to flee.

”Foolish.”

Su Xiao’s pitch-black eyes seem to flash.

Running away in battle, exposing your back to the enemy, is undoubtedly the most foolish act, akin to suicidal behavior.

”Pfft.”

”Dragon Slash” pierces the ghoul’s heart, Su Xiao grips the hilt with both hands. With 13 points in the Power Attribute, he easily hoists the ghoul, then fiercely throws it at a fleeing ghoul.

With a thud, the ghoul tumbles like a rolling gourd.

Just as the ghoul tries to get up, a dazzling blade light appears in his sight.

First, a buzzing rings in his ears, and then the ghoul feels the world spinning.

The ghoul’s last memory is a headless corpse spurting blood and a man under the moonlight, holding a sharp blade, like a Soul Reaper.

Twelve ghouls remain, except for the one tangled with Maniwa Haruo, leaving eleven.

With less than 20 seconds of combat, only eight ghouls remain out of eleven.

The remaining eight ghouls now have only one thought: to flee, distancing themselves from the man who resembles a Soul Reaper.

”Impossible, how can there be such a strong human in the Shared Feed Area, does that organization just allow this?”

A ghoul roars in anger, then turns to flee.

Su Xiao’s Agility Attribute is 13 points, equal to his Power Attribute, which is already above average in the not-so-powerful Power System of the ghoul world.

What makes Su Xiao strong now is not his extraordinary attributes but his sword technique and combat skills.

Of course, the role of the Shadow of Annihilation Law can’t be overlooked.

But the Shadow of Annihilation Law currently only has one combat skill. Su Xiao obtained the Shadow of Annihilation Law too recently, so the strength of this profession hasn’t been showcased yet,

The chase begins. Su Xiao quickly runs through the streets, occasionally slaughtering a ghoul.

Sounds of painful wailing and begging for mercy are constant.

The ghouls aren’t foolish; they all scatter in different directions to escape.

Ultimately out of eight ghouls, Su Xiao leaves six while two lucky ones escape.

At this moment, Maniwa Haruo is still battling with that A-Rank Ghoul, who is about to cry. He’s not afraid of Maniwa Haruo but the man who resembles a Soul Reaper.

Maniwa Haruo is very focused in battle. The pressure from the A-Rank Ghoul is considerable, leaving her no time to check the surrounding situation.

She’s still too inexperienced. In battle, listening in all directions and watching in all ways is necessary; otherwise, one can easily be ambushed.

”Please~, please let me go.”

The ghoul’s sudden plea for mercy startles Maniwa Haruo. It seems the ghoul was in a favorable position, so why start pleading for mercy? The battle temporarily halts.

At this moment, Maniwa Haruo finally sees the situation around her clearly.

Su Xiao is sitting on the corpses of two ghouls, smoking a cigarette, with a long knife in hand still dripping blood.

Maniwa Haruo’s beautiful eyes widen; she hasn’t even dealt with one ghoul, while Su Xiao has already slain the remaining ghouls.

”That one over there, if you dare to run, I’ll cut you down into pieces.”

Su Xiao looks at the last ghoul left, with the new bait appearing; after all, using subordinates as bait wasn’t very commendable.
