Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 558: The Unstoppable Bard. Part-3.

Although the attack was extremely powerful and Rio was standing at the center of it all, he wasn’t affected much by it.

His entire body was covered in sword intent, and he was protecting himself with a miasmic shield on top of it.

He didn’t waste a single second, and after blowing apart most of the army and causing insane chaos in the area, Rio flew forward like a missile and put his flute to use.

[Sword Intent: Berserk Approach!]

Rio started playing the flute and used the soundwaves produced from it to do a massive area-wide attack as he powered those sound waves with uncontrollable and dangerous sword intent energy.

Any remaining monsters that were in his path instantly had their minds and souls shattered from the sheer pressure created by Rio’s song of death!

*BOOOM!*

Rio created a sonic boom in the air as he flew forward and crossed the entire destroyed battlefield while reaping the lives of every monster that dared to block his way forward.

For that massive army of monsters, it might have been a battle of a lifetime, a battle of power and dominance, but for Rio it was just a random Tuesday.

Rio crossed the battlefield in a matter of just a few seconds as he smashed hundreds of monsters to bits and made a significant distance from the battlefield by flying at top speed.

After flying for about half a day without stopping for a single second, Rio finally slowed down and landed on the ground.

He took a long, deep breath as he sat down on a giant boulder.

”Phew~ that was quite a nice warmup...”

Although the battle was very easy for Rio, it did help him learn new things and gave him the opportunity to do experiments.

’I can actually create spatial cracks if I use the power of miasmic crystal explosions...’

It wasn’t possible in the outside world as of yet, but the previous attack showed that Rio could do something similar once he became an SS-ranker.

’It’s odd though, why would an army be sent to deal with me?... did miasma not understand that I can easily deal with such weak foes on my own?’

The army couldn’t even put a single scratch on Rio, let alone stop him from advancing; thus, there was no actual point in sending them to Rio.

’What’s the purpose of this sudden interruption, I wonder...’

Rio’s intuition was suppressed inside the spirit realm, or he might have been able to grasp something by now from the clues.

’Is this the work of that arrogant guy Raika?... but if he knows a lot about me, then why would he send such weak monsters to fight me?’

’That doesn’t make any sense...’

Thinking this far, Rio shook his head and stopped wasting his energy on these random thoughts.

He knew that it would be difficult to find any proper answers for these kinds of situations, so it was better to focus more on his own goals rather than wasting energy on finding answers for such problems.

Rio looked at his flute, and it was just as spotless as ever.

’I don’t even need to keep it in its sword form to do devastating damage anymore... wait, if I am not even using a sword, am I still a swordsman?’

Thinking about that, Rio felt that the dialogue he had been using to refer to himself as a ’humble swordsman’ was starting to become a bit inaccurate now.

Rio took a deep sigh as he filled his body with miasma to refill his empty mana tank.

Other people can’t use any other form of energy except for mana as their primary method to fill their mana tank or energy source.

But Rio is different; he is immune to miasmic corruption and thus is capable of using miasma as his energy source, like how demons do it.

When Rio used his skills in the battlefield, he used his own mana in many cases, causing it to get depleted, and as there is a very small amount of mana in the spirit realm, it’s near impossible to replenish it from the surroundings.

Thus, Rio had no other choice but to fill his mana tank with miasma instead.

”Hmmm??... what? Hmmm?...”

The moment Rio put miasma in his energy tank along with mana, he sensed a very peculiar sensation.

It was a very ’unique’ sensation, but Rio couldn’t get ahold of it before it disappeared.

”Hmmm? What was that?....”

Confused by the sudden change, Rio felt doubtful and decided to do an experiment on the spot.

He sat down on the boulder in the lotus position to meditate and focus his entire mind on that peculiar sensation.

Rio released more mana from his body and made space so that he could ingest more miasma inside him.

The moment he did so, the same ’unique’ sensation appeared once again.

But before Rio could continue what he was doing, he was forced to stop, and the miasma concentration in his body was forcefully reduced!

[Ding! True Immunity has been triggered!]

[Ding! Your body is not yet strong enough to withstand a risk to attempt ???????? as of yet!]

[Ding! True Immunity has decided to expel all miasma from your body for the time being!]

All of the miasma from Rio’s body was expelled instantly, and Rio snapped out of his focused state right away!

”Wha-what!?”

Rio was so surprised that he couldn’t maintain his emotionless face at that moment, and his jaw opened so wide from shock that it seemed like it would fall on the ground.

”What did I just do?... err... did I nearly kill myself just now?... no, it was some kind of ’Attempt’?...”

”Hmm... this is weird; I have never heard anything about this kind of situation...”

Rio is the first person in the world to try to keep mana and miasma in his body at the same time while keeping them stable, so there was no way for him to get any guidance from anyone.

He was confused by the sudden twist in the situation and found it difficult to understand what had happened.

’Does it mean that trying to keep mana and miasma in one’s body at the same time a very dangerous thing and can cause harm to me?’

While thinking about this question in his head, Rio brought out a high-grade mana recovery potion from his space ring and drank it to replenish his lost mana.

’But what will happen if I manage to make a proper stable cycle of both mana and miasma in my body?’

Rio felt curious about this new ’possibility’ and noted it down under the mental list of things that he needed to do in the future.

’Once I reach peak S-rank or even rank SS, I can retry this ’attempt’ once again...’

As Rio is capable of handling both mana and miasma, it’s obvious that he won’t limit himself to just one; if he gets the chance in the future, he will try to accommodate both in his body.

’Well, I might get in trouble if I keep miasma stored in my body though...’

Ashtel and others were able to tolerate Rio using miasma because there was no trace of it in his body, and he had no trace of miasmic corruption inside him.

But if he willingly placed it inside himself, it might ruin his relations with everyone.

’Err... I need to think things through before I do something like this again...’

Rio shook his head and got up from his seat as he stopped his mind from wandering to different thoughts.

He flew up and started moving forward once again, while continuing to condense miasma to try to create an artificial miasmic crystal.

’Sigh... I wonder when I will reach that plateau... it’s so far away!’

His mission was difficult, and monsters, armies, powerful beings, etc., were blocking his way, but as an unstoppable bard, Rio was not going to stop.
