One Piece : Noble Phantasm Maker

Chapter 239: Chapter 239: A Freestyle-Swimming Frog, Nearing Water 7!

Sanji also spotted the frog swimming freestyle.

A glint flashed in his eyes, and he immediately began lowering the sails.

He turned the Wind Dials up to full power, spun the rudder, and chased after the frog.

But the frog was surprisingly fast. For a while, they could not catch up to it.

Luffy did not have time to worry about anything else. He grabbed two oars, stretched out his arms, and started rowing from both sides.

Nami and Robin had been drinking coffee inside the cabin.

But after feeling the rudder change direction, they rushed outside.

”Hey, what are you doing? You can’t just turn the rudder whenever you feel like it! We need to get to town and exchange our money!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Nami spotted the frog and spat out all the coffee she had just swallowed.

”Hey, what’s going on? Is that frog swimming?”

Hearing Nami, Luffy burst out laughing. Then he asked,

”Hey, Nami, hurry up and tell me where that frog is! We have to catch it today!”

Nami flatly refused.

She did not want to act as recklessly as Luffy.

Just then, the Merry suddenly crashed into something again.

No matter how hard Luffy rowed, the Merry could not move forward at all.

Nami frowned deeply. Then she looked down and was stunned by what she saw.

”Hey, look! There’s a railway track underwater!”

At this, Zoro and Sanji, who had been rowing with all their strength, also looked down. Confusion spread across their faces.

”Hey, what’s going on? Who would build a railway under the sea?”

Sanji’s words made Zoro frown.

”Could someone be running a train on the sea?”

Just after Zoro finished speaking, a warning bell suddenly rang in the distance.

Everyone looked behind them and nearly jumped out of their skins.

A train was actually speeding toward them from not far away.

The entire Straw Hat crew stared in shock. Usopp was the first to recover.

”Hey, Luffy! Row harder! At this rate, the train is going to send our ship flying!”

Luffy quickly rowed even faster, but it did no good.

Seeing this, Usopp steeled himself and pulled two Impact Dials from his pouch.

He placed them at the stern of the Merry.

The next second, Usopp activated both Impact Dials.

With a loud explosive blast, the Merry was sent flying forward.

It barely managed to dodge the train.

However, the Impact Dials had been so powerful that the Merry was left battered and full of holes.

The mast came crashing down, and the deck boards lifted into the air. Some of them even broke apart and flew off somewhere.

Fortunately, the bottom of the ship was not leaking. Usopp quickly brought over some planks.

He patched up the Merry while repeatedly apologizing.

At least they had managed to survive the crisis.

But the enormous frog from earlier had disappeared without a trace.

Raynor looked at the miserable state of the Merry and sighed.

It seemed that repairing the Merry had become an urgent matter.

As Raynor was thinking about it, the system notification sounded.

”Ding! Congratulations, host. You have triggered a mission: Repair the Merry. Upon completion, you will receive 1,500 points of all-stat experience, several forging materials, and one championship belt blueprint.”

Hearing the system notification, Raynor frowned slightly.

The system’s rewards seemed to be getting more and more ordinary lately.

Still, it did not matter. He had already planned to repair the Merry, so this could simply count as an extra reward.

Just as the Straw Hat crew thought they had escaped danger, a strange-looking old woman walked out from a roadside shelter nearby.

She was holding a bottle of red wine. After taking a couple of swigs, she walked over and looked at them.

Luffy stared at her for two seconds, then shouted,

”Ah! It’s the swimming frog!”

As soon as Luffy finished speaking, Nami struck him with a merciless iron fist.

”It’s not!”

With that, Nami stepped forward and climbed off the ship.

She asked the old woman,

”Excuse me, how do we get around to that island from here?”

Hearing this, a serious look appeared in Granny Kokoro’s eyes.

”Oh, you’re heading to Water 7? It’s simple. Just go around this railway track and you’ll reach it.”

”But you’d better dock at the back. The Marines are probably going to be visiting soon.”

Nami thanked Granny Kokoro.

At that moment, Raynor stepped forward and asked,

”Excuse me, how do we get to the shipyard? I need Iceburg to help me with something.”

Granny Kokoro looked at the Straw Hats’ ship and immediately understood.

”That ship of yours is in pretty bad shape. Wanting Iceburg to repair it is a good choice. I happen to know him well, so I’ll write you a letter of introduction.”

As she spoke, Granny Kokoro drew a very abstract picture and handed it to Raynor.

Raynor frowned as he looked at the drawing.

However, if he wanted to use the Treasure Tree Adam to forge a ship, he could not trust anyone besides a shipwright like Iceburg.

Raynor thanked Granny Kokoro, returned to the Merry, and left the area.

They headed straight toward Water 7.

But they had only traveled halfway there when—

Suddenly, the surrounding sea began to shake.

Raynor was very familiar with that sound. It was clearly the noise made by a giant Sea King moving beneath the waves.

Could the Sea King from earlier have come back looking for trouble?

Just as Luffy and the others grew alert, a dark shape suddenly leaped out of the sea.

Luffy was about to attack when a huge yellow frog landed directly on the Merry.

It was wearing nothing but a loincloth around its waist, making it look especially bizarre.

Everyone in the Straw Hat crew let out a shocked cry—not just Luffy.

”Hey, what the hell is this disgusting thing? Sanji, get it off the ship!”

Hearing this, Sanji picked up a kitchen knife.

”Miss Nami, don’t worry. I’ll turn it into a delicious meal right away!”

Sanji was about to step forward when the giant frog crossed its arms and began croaking loudly.

Sanji stopped and looked toward Chopper.

”Hey, Chopper, what is this thing saying?”

Chopper crossed his arms just like the frog.

”Ah, I thought you looked really cool when you defeated that Sea King earlier, so I want to challenge you!”

After hearing Chopper’s translation, Luffy pointed at himself in confusion.

”You mean it wants to challenge me?”

With that, Luffy lay down on the deck and laughed so hard that his stomach hurt.

This was the first time in his life that Luffy had ever been challenged by food.
