One-Eyed Monster

Where does this confidence come from?

This confidence comes from the observation of the Spirit Book.

Although it’s just a book, it’s still very meticulous. This is because its creator is an extraordinary figure. Details determine most things. Lord Soron’s mastery of details makes him excel in various fields, so the Spirit Book he created inherits this advantage in some way. Although the Spirit Book is only a part of the creator’s memory, the infusion of Spirit Power at the moment of creation subtly influences the Spirit Book with the creator’s habits and traits, both strengths and weaknesses. Of course, not all Spirit Books can inherit this. This Spirit Book spends most of its time alone. Its solitary pursuit makes it quite different, at least in personality, from most Spirit Books.

This meticulous observational power is a gift from Lord Soron.

And now, it is using this gift.

It discovered that every time the Great Witch hears about the special wizard robe, her body involuntarily leans forward. This detail indicates the Great Witch heavily values any information about this robe.

Of course, it noticed more than just this. The Great Witch’s forward-leaning body always has an instinctive tremble, which is well-hidden but could not escape the Spirit Book’s Spirit Sensing. Initially, this tremble surprised the Spirit Book because the intensity of anxiety was quite strong, making the Spirit Book suspect some dangerous situation nearby. If there were any danger, the Spirit Book would choose to sleep without hesitation; in its current state, it cannot contend with anyone.

However, as time went by, the Spirit Book found that the Wizard’s fear was not about the surroundings, but a terror of the future. Yet, the Spirit Book couldn’t discern exactly what the Wizard was worrying about.

Through these observations, the Spirit Book discerned the Great Witch harbored a deep fear about the uncertainty of this wizard robe.

That’s why it has this confidence.

No need for a loud voice, nor a strong tone. Even if you mutter in a very small voice, the Great Witch might hear.

As long as the content relates to this robe, the Great Witch listens with keen attention.

”This wizard robe is rare, so many years have passed, and finally one has appeared again. I really wonder what kind of reaction it will provoke,” the Spirit Book mumbled, sensing the Great Witch’s reaction.

The Great Witch’s body slightly leaned forward. She had no reaction when hearing the word ’rare,’ but when hearing ’really wonder what kind of reaction,’ she suddenly trembled.

The Spirit Book immediately knew its judgment was correct, making subsequent actions easy.

Just mentioning related information about the wizard robe would suffice. The Great Witch’s sensitivity is significantly heightened, requiring no deliberate effort.

Originally, it had no mischievous intentions. It’s a Spirit Book, not a prankster. Magnifying the Great Witch’s fears is merely to attract attention to achieve its purpose without further pranks. After all, the Great Witch isn’t Igor. It only wishes to prank Igor. Moreover, the ultimate goal of all these discussions is for the Great Witch Biggs to understand this wizard robe...

The Spirit Book decided not to overthink; it needed to seize the moment. As long as it caught everyone’s attention, it could successfully solve the problem Igor raised, a problem it was eager to tell Igor about.

Unfortunately, Igor has already become disappointed in it and is unwilling to listen. It can only ’force’ Igor to hear through this method. After all, it wants to rest again; only well-rested can it move forward and possibly prank Igor in the future...

Setting aside those thoughts, dealing with the immediate situation is crucial.

It has found the standard concerning the wizard robe but feels satisfied only when stating it before Igor.

This is its little scheme. Of course, it can directly inform the Great Witch, but it’s likely she wouldn’t acknowledge its gesture.

”Alas, this wizard robe might ruin a person,” the Spirit Book continued, with an air of regret.

The Great Witch’s previously trembling body stiffened upon hearing this sentence. It seemed the situation was unfolding exactly as predicted.

She was already worried this robe might affect her. Now, someone’s lament validates this possibility, escalating her fear.

”To ruin a Wizard’s future with such trivial things, meaningless, yet it destroys a person. A possibility is thus stripped away, a person who could have run in the sunlight suddenly transforms,” the Spirit Book continued, quoting Lord Soron.

The Great Witch, upon hearing this, felt inner turmoil intensify because it completely matched her premonitions. The changes due to the wizard robe seemed to ruin her. A person is destroyed. She wanted to return to the Wizard Alliance, though the possibility is slim, but it’s still a possibility. Now, this possibility has been stripped by the wizard robe. As for the final implication, it’s even more daunting; one who could run in sunlight might ultimately be relegated to the shadows...

No, this is not her desire, nor can she accept it!

The more she thought, the more terrifying the future appeared, but the torment within grew. Her trembling body began to sway, her head grew heavy, and unknowingly, her feet became unstable...

Thud—the Great Witch fell straight to the ground!

Then, a hysterical ”No” echoed skywards.

The Spirit Book was stunned itself. It had just started, yet the commotion was so immense; the Great Witch must be incredibly sensitive to this robe!

Could it be that it exerted too much force, unthinkable, it wasn’t exaggerating at all!

As the Spirit Book was in shock, the creatures of Guru Mountain were attracted by the scream, seeing the Great Witch collapse and continuously moaning a prolonged ’No’, evidently in a state of fear.

”What’s going on?” the Great Mentor asked, not expecting such events.

The other creatures remained vigilant while responding to the Great Mentor, ”Unable to determine, unknown what’s happening, is it another intruder?”

Igor looked at the Spirit Book beside him, sensing it might understand something as it’s always near the Great Witch, so he reluctantly inquired, ”Do you know what’s happening?”

And the Spirit Book had been waiting for this question!
