Naruto: Orochimaru's Disciple

Chapter 387: Minato Namikaze, You’ve Done Too Many Bad Things!

”Time?”

Amamiya Kenichi looked curiously at his teacher, Orochimaru.

Of course, he knew that the Ninja World contained miraculous techniques known as space-time ninjutsu.

The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze’s Flying Thunder God, was a space-time ninjutsu. Or rather, it was one of the more orthodox examples of space-time ninjutsu.

Aside from that, there was Obito’s Kamui, and the final villain Ōtsutsuki Kaguya’s Amenominaka.

In theory, that technique was basically invincible. One only needed to drag the enemy into one dimension, then return to the original dimension. The opponent could only be trapped there until they exhausted themselves and died.

Unfortunately, it had run into Obito’s Kamui.

However, most of those techniques involved the concept of space.

Ninjutsu involving time was comparatively rare. After all, time was too mysterious. Anyone who could master time was usually no ordinary figure.

Even so, there were indeed a few things in the Ninja World related to time.

For example, the seal that had sealed Hikari was almost equivalent to a time ninjutsu. Unfortunately, because of the wear and tear of time, that seal had now become difficult to distinguish. Otherwise, it would simply be a black-tech version of a hibernation pod.

”Yes, time.” Orochimaru narrowed his eyes.

Recently, Orochimaru had discovered that the problems with his body seemed to be growing somewhat serious. Specifically, he found that he was becoming less and less averse to appearing before others in his current form.

This made Orochimaru somewhat suspicious.

Had some strange ninjutsu been cast on him?

But after thinking for a long time, he could not find anything abnormal. If he had to name a possible cause, then his change seemed to have some connection to the Six Paths Sage’s appearance back then.

Could it be that the Six Paths Sage had merely looked at him at that time and caused him to become like this?

That made Orochimaru somewhat anxious.

He urgently needed to change bodies and see whether doing so could free him from this influence. However, a body suitable for his Living Corpse Reincarnation was not so easy to find.

”Is it related to Junior Sister?” Amamiya Kenichi handed Orochimaru a set of bowls and chopsticks.

Orochimaru accepted them naturally.

Amamiya Kenichi knew what his teacher had done earlier. Now that his teacher had suddenly brought up this matter, it could only mean that it might be related to his junior sister.

”Mm. That little girl had quite an extraordinary encounter.” Orochimaru’s eyes carried a hint of reminiscence and excitement.

Amamiya Kenichi silently mourned for his junior sister in his heart.

Every time his teacher showed such an expression, it meant he had discovered an interesting experimental subject.

Now, Amamiya Kenichi just did not know how his junior sister was doing. Had she already been sent into the laboratory?

Thinking carefully, it did not seem impossible.

After all, his junior sister had, in a certain sense, betrayed his teacher. Although his teacher was relatively friendly to his disciples, that friendliness was not without limits.

If one wanted to survive after betraying one’s teacher, it would be better to hope that one’s strength could advance by leaps and bounds and surpass the teacher instead.

Just like himself now.

”That little girl encountered some trouble while carrying out a mission before and was accidentally caught up in an incident. Unexpectedly, she traveled to the past.” His teacher’s eyes were very excited.

Amamiya Kenichi keenly noticed that his teacher’s foot was trembling slightly beneath the table.

That was proof of his excitement.

When his teacher became excited, he seemed to unconsciously shake his leg. This habit had only appeared after he used Living Corpse Reincarnation to take Yuki’s body.

”Traveled... to the past?” When Amamiya Kenichi heard the word ”traveled,” he almost thought Orochimaru had discovered his true identity.

But after hearing ”to the past,” he realized what was going on.

Even so, it was still a little hard for him to imagine.

Could the Ninja World actually allow someone to travel to the past?

An ability that overpowered?

One had to know that returning to the past was an extremely difficult thing, not even counting the butterfly effect it would cause. Amamiya Kenichi did not remember any ninjutsu that could travel to the past.

”Yes, she traveled to the past.” His teacher stopped there and did not continue.

Amamiya Kenichi’s mouth twitched.

His teacher really had a twisted sense of humor. He had deliberately stirred up his interest, then stopped the story halfway.

But after hearing this, Amamiya Kenichi had also formed some guesses.

He vaguely remembered that a Naruto movie had mentioned traveling to the past. Because the plot at the time involved a familiar country, Amamiya Kenichi had an unusually deep impression of it.

Rōran.

The Ryūmyaku.

Amamiya Kenichi remembered it now.

However, he recalled that this incident should have happened after Naruto had grown up. Naruto had even met his father, Minato Namikaze, before returning to his own time.

Since it was a movie, it was considered a side story separate from the main Naruto plot and had no special impact on the main storyline.

”Teacher, is Anko in the lab now, or...?” Amamiya Kenichi asked tentatively.

Hikari blinked beside him.

Had the Ninja World already advanced to the point where people could travel back in time?

”The laboratory. That brat, I don’t know whether she was brainwashed or what, but she actually thought of pledging loyalty to Konoha.” Orochimaru sneered.

He had put quite a lot of effort into this disciple of his.

Amamiya Kenichi took a deep breath, then rubbed his face.

Just as expected.

Anko, who had betrayed his teacher, had been sent to the laboratory. This made Amamiya Kenichi feel a little melancholy.

If he had not brought Anko out of Konoha back then, perhaps this unfortunate junior sister would not have encountered these things. She might have become a Jonin in Konoha according to the original plot and at least lived longer.

But entering his teacher’s laboratory...

”Teacher, what do you plan to do?” Amamiya Kenichi licked his lips.

He was not worried about anyone eavesdropping. He had already used chakra to block the surroundings, cutting off any possibility of others listening in.

It was a very simple small sealing barrier technique.

”I plan to study her condition and see whether traveling to the past had any effect on her. But so far, there has been no progress.” His teacher spoke without holding anything back.

During this period, he had been studying his former disciple in another laboratory, but there had been no progress for the time being.

If Anko had not been so certain in her claims, and if Orochimaru had not learned through other channels about the mission Minato Namikaze had once carried out, he truly would have suspected that Anko was simply having an episode.

”Then the force that caused her to travel back may be related to something else. Anko is like a leaf in the current of time, only able to drift with the flow.” Amamiya Kenichi gave his opinion.

Were there time ninjutsu in the Ninja World?

Basically none.

Such a thing was too powerful.

Izanagi merely avoided one’s own death and revived the user afterward. It was not the same as foreseeing death and then finding a way to avoid it. Those were two entirely different things.

”I plan to go take a look. Do you want to come?” Orochimaru raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips curving slightly as he looked at his student with an unreadable gaze.

”No, Teacher. I’m at a crucial point right now.” Amamiya Kenichi shook his head.

He knew what that power was about.

According to the setting, there was no way to travel back again. Time travel itself was a low-probability event, a miracle born from countless coincidences. Replicating it would be extremely difficult, so studying it would not produce any results.

It was better to focus on what he was doing now.

His teacher gave him a deep look but said nothing. Instead, he began eating.

Amamiya Kenichi also smiled and ate with Hikari, no longer continuing the topic.

After finishing the meal, Amamiya Kenichi paid the bill. Only then did his teacher stand with his hands behind his back, look at Amamiya Kenichi, and ask a question.

”Do you want to go see your junior sister?”

”Then, Teacher, if I go see her, will it change anything?” Amamiya Kenichi smiled.

He did have some feelings for his junior sister. After all, they had spent so many years together, and he was not made of stone.

But he also knew his teacher’s personality.

Orochimaru was not the type to change his mind casually. If Amamiya Kenichi wanted his teacher to let his junior sister go, he would have to show his teacher a greater return.

That was the only way.

”That depends on what you can offer.” His teacher looked at Amamiya Kenichi with a half-smile.

Amamiya Kenichi scratched his head.

His teacher had kicked the ball back to him again.

However, Amamiya Kenichi also understood that it was probably because nothing useful could be dug out of his junior sister anymore.

His teacher had basically confirmed that there was no way to extract information related to time ninjutsu from his junior sister, which was why he had relented.

For his teacher, if a ”discarded item” like his now valueless junior sister could be exchanged for something useful, that would naturally be best. If not, it did not matter.

”Then I’ll go see Junior Sister first.” Amamiya Kenichi shrugged.

After all, Anko had been brought out of Konoha by him. With so many years of shared history, Amamiya Kenichi could not simply ignore her.

Orochimaru was not surprised by this answer.

He had long seen that although this disciple of his was somewhat cold, he was actually someone who valued emotions.

This was also why he had invested more effort into Amamiya Kenichi. After all, even Orochimaru himself did not want to raise a disciple who would betray him.

”What a pity,” Orochimaru licked his lips.

After researching Living Corpse Reincarnation, he had tested whether his soul was compatible with this disciple’s body. The result had been no.

At that time, Amamiya Kenichi’s talent had not been particularly outstanding, so Orochimaru had not felt it was a pity. But now, seeing his disciple grow stronger and stronger, that regret had become somewhat greater.

Amamiya Kenichi, however, had no idea what his teacher was thinking.

After all, he was not a computer that could analyze emotions in another person’s eyes.

He was merely curious about what the Fourth Hokage had said to his junior sister that could have caused such a drastic change in her personality. Or perhaps she had encountered something else?

But when he saw his junior sister, even Amamiya Kenichi fell silent for a moment.

Because at that moment, Anko could only be described as miserable.

Her body was covered with tubes and wires from various instruments. Her face was pale, and it was clear at a glance that a lot of blood had been drawn from her.

She had even...

Lost an eye.

”...”

Amamiya Kenichi did not know what to say.

Anko’s path was her own choice.

If she had not betrayed her teacher and her senior brother, she certainly would not have fallen into such a state.

One could only say that when a person chose their own path, there was no room for regret.

”Good thing Hikari isn’t here.” Amamiya Kenichi sighed.

When he came to see Anko with his teacher, he had specifically sent Hikari back to the Land of Snow first. After all, there were often terrifying scenes in his teacher’s laboratory.

Anko also noticed the movement.

She raised her head, looked at Amamiya Kenichi with her remaining eye, then lowered her head again without saying anything. Her eye looked dead.

”You can talk to her first.” His teacher left those words behind and departed.

Before leaving, he even drew another tube of blood from Anko.

Amamiya Kenichi was worried that this draw might directly kill her.

After his teacher left, only Amamiya Kenichi and Anko remained in the laboratory.

Amamiya Kenichi sighed. He looked at his junior sister, remained silent for a while, then took out the things he had prepared earlier.

As Amamiya Kenichi busied himself, a pleasant aroma slowly spread through the laboratory.

The scent of curry was rich and fragrant, and it even made the ever-lifeless Anko produce another sound.

Her stomach growled.

”One bowl or two?” Amamiya Kenichi glanced at his junior sister and asked.

”...”

Anko did not speak.

She kept her head lowered, as if the person whose stomach had just growled was not her.

Amamiya Kenichi pouted.

He did not remember the Ryūmyaku time travel having any brainwashing effects.

”You weren’t like this when I brought you out of Konoha.” Amamiya Kenichi scooped a bowl of beef curry, poured it over rice, and handed it to his junior sister.

There was no melodramatic scene of ”I won’t eat” or knocking over the food.

Anko picked up the bowl and ate heartily.

Amamiya Kenichi was not in a hurry. He served himself a bowl as well.

With garlic, it tasted pretty good.

It was just that the curry smell in the laboratory was a bit strong.

”Senior Brother, I...” Anko raised her head.

She had eaten three bowls in a row. Clearly, she had been very hungry.

”No. If you’re going to apologize, spare me.” Amamiya Kenichi waved his hand.

Anko immediately fell silent.

She had indeed intended to apologize.

”Tell me, what exactly did you experience when you traveled back in time?” Amamiya Kenichi narrowed his eyes and questioned his junior sister.

”I... I met the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and then I...”

Anko licked her lips, then told him a foolish story about a young girl’s budding feelings.

As Amamiya Kenichi listened, his expression gradually became subtle.

At first, he was calm.

Then he grew shocked.

Finally, his face resembled an old man on the subway staring at his phone.

Minato Namikaze, oh Minato Namikaze.

You’ve done too many bad things!
