My Talent Skill Mutated

THUD!

With a casual toss, Chen Yu slammed the Dark Giant Lizard’s corpse deep into the valley.

The next second, the eerie white flames vanished, and Chen Yu returned to his normal form.

Killing two Level 8 Mutant Beasts had been much easier than expected.

”Sixty million...”

Chen Yu glanced at his soaring Source of Life and grinned.

With this haul, his Source of Life had reached over 270 million, leaving him less than 30 million away from his goal of 300 million.

’Hm?’

’Why is he smiling so happily?’

’Does he want me?!’

’What should I do? Should I give in, or give in, or... give in...’

Not far away, Liu Mei watched the smile on Chen Yu’s face as thoughts raced through her mind.

’Well, he’s so handsome and so strong... I guess I wouldn’t be getting the short end of the stick...’

A blush crept up Liu Mei’s pretty face, but she quickly regained her composure. With a flicker of her figure, she appeared before Chen Yu.

”Little brother, I know what you’re thinking... But could we perhaps wait until we get out of here? This place is a little... inappropriate,” Liu Mei said in a small voice, her head lowered bashfully.

Chen Yu: ”?”

Chen Yu froze, looking at the bashful Liu Mei before him and hearing her words.

’She knows what I’m thinking?’

’What does she know?’

”I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Chen Yu said.

Liu Mei: ”?”

She lifted her head, her pretty face gazing at Chen Yu.

’He doesn’t understand?’

’Seriously? How could he expect a girl to take the lead in something like this? Don’t I have any pride?’

”Little brother, thank you for your help. How do you want me to repay you?” Liu Mei looked at Chen Yu, getting straight to the point.

’Repay me...’

Chen Yu’s eyes scanned her up and down. ”Alright, if you really want to repay me, just give me one or two hundred Divine Spirit Pearls. No need for too many.”

Liu Mei: ”???”

’No need for too many?’

’One or two hundred Divine Spirit Pearls?’

’How did you even manage to string those words together into a sentence?’

’Divine Spirit Pearls... you think they’re cabbages you can just pick whenever you want?’

Liu Mei’s expression shifted. ”Little brother, you must be joking,” she said. ”I don’t even have any Divine Spirit Pearls myself.”

”Not even one?” Chen Yu looked at her.

”Yes, not a single one!” Liu Mei nodded.

”Then you’re doing pretty badly for yourself...” Chen Yu commented.

Liu Mei: ”...”

’*I’m* the one doing badly?!’

’What a ”sweet” mouth you have!’

”Little brother, this isn’t some ordinary item. For Divine Spirit Pearls, even in the internal exchange, only Level 7 members are qualified.”

Liu Mei explained.

”I was just kidding. Anyway, what are you doing here?” Chen Yu changed the subject, looking at Liu Mei.

Liu Mei: ”I’m here for an alliance mission. The target is the South Sea Ninth Abyss, so that’s why I came.”

”Oh? An alliance mission? What kind?” Chen Yu looked at her curiously.

Liu Mei: ”It’s nothing major, just exploring this Abyss World to gather more information.”

Chen Yu nodded, then looked at her again. ”So how much have you accomplished? You must have some understanding of this place by now, right?”

Liu Mei: ”I’ve only managed to learn a little so far. I haven’t even finished exploring this super-island.”

”Are there any traces of civilization here?” Chen Yu asked.

Liu Mei shook her head. ”I haven’t found any yet. And I can’t get to the other half of the island by myself right now.”

”?”

”Can’t get there?”

”Why not?” Chen Yu asked, surprised.

Liu Mei looked at him, her gaze shifting toward the island’s interior. ”A terrifying mutant beast stands guard at the center of the island. I’m not strong enough to defeat it.”

”A mutant beast stands guard!”

Hearing this, Chen Yu’s eyes instantly lit up.

’A guardian beast? That’s fantastic!’

But just as quickly, Chen Yu calmed himself.

’A mutant beast that even Liu Mei finds terrifying... wouldn’t that mean it’s... Level 9?!’

Chen Yu’s heart skipped a beat.

Although he was confident in his abilities, the power gap between him and a Level 9 Mutant Beast was still immense.

There is a world of difference between a Level 9 and a Level 8 Mutant Beast.

The only exception would be a special mutant beast like the Flame Demon Spirit, which could possess Level 9 strength.

And what price had he paid to take down the Flame Demon Spirit?

Chen Yu knew full well.

If his Lord of the Undead Skill hadn’t been a direct counter to the Flame Demon Spirit, he never would have been able to defeat it.

Although he still had other trump cards up his sleeve, he hadn’t been fully confident of victory.

”The mutant beast at the center of the island... is it a Level 9 creature?” Although he had his suspicions, Chen Yu couldn’t help but ask.

Liu Mei shook her head. ”How could it be Level 9? It’s a Level 8 Mutant Beast. However, this Level 8 is far more terrifying than those two Dark Giant Lizards. I ran into it once and was completely crushed; I barely made it out alive.”

A look of lingering fear appeared on Liu Mei’s face.

Chen Yu was slightly taken aback by the change in her expression.

’A Level 8 Mutant Beast...’

’Could it be another special one, like the Flame Demon Spirit?’

’If so, the situation is still very serious.’

’Still, it’s better than facing a Level 9 Mutant Beast.’

With his current strength, taking on a Level 9 Mutant Beast would be a real stretch.

The only Skills in his arsenal that could stand against it were Divine Will and Destructive Celestial Light.

But both of those Skills were practically one-shot abilities.

It would be difficult to use them a second time in quick succession.

Once used, his own power would be diminished by ninety-eight percent.

Even at his current level, he wouldn’t dare use them lightly.

Unless it was absolutely necessary.

But if it was a special mutant beast like the Flame Demon Spirit, he feared that anything short of his ultimate, last-resort techniques would be insufficient to kill it.

”What kind of Level 8 Mutant Beast is it?” Chen Yu asked.

’Since Liu Mei has seen it, she must know something about it.’

’It would be even better if she knows its weakness.’

’That way, I can find the right medicine for the ailment!’

Liu Mei shook her head. ”This Level 8 Mutant Beast is very strange. It’s a type I’ve never seen before, and there’s no data on it within the alliance either.”

”Even you don’t know?”

Hearing this, Chen Yu’s brow furrowed.

’It’s not a powerful beast that’s frightening, but an unknown one.’

’The unknown is always the most terrifying.’

’Not understanding it means not knowing its weaknesses... This is going to be tough!’
