My Talent Skill Mutated

Dongfang Yao and An Ran looked at Director Jiang.

Director Jiang pondered for a moment, then said, ”I wasn’t sure about this kind of monster at first, either. But after I reported it, the Alliance gave us an answer. It’s a type of exotic beast called a Demon Beast.”

”Demon Beast?”

The three of them were taken aback.

Given the monster’s appearance in the video, the name was quite fitting.

Director Jiang continued, ”These Demon Beasts have some special abilities. They can imitate humans, even transform into them. Fortunately, for now, these exotic beasts can’t leave the Tangula Abyss. It seems the rules of the Abyss restrict them.”

”Shapeshifting abilities...”

The gazes of the three turned serious.

’Looks like these Demon Beasts won’t be easy to deal with.’

”But they’re not without weaknesses. If you pay close attention to their transformations, there’s a telltale feature: their eyes. Even when transformed into a person, their eyes are completely black. You’ll notice it if you’re careful.”

Hearing this, the three of them committed this feature to memory.

If a Demon Beast ever transformed into one of them, they’d be able to identify it by this feature.

Director Jiang looked at them, his expression grave. ”However, this telltale sign is limited to low-level Demon Beasts. High-level ones don’t have this feature. You can only rely on your own powerful senses to judge. Only those with exceptionally strong minds can discern the subtle differences in their auras.”

Chen Yu and the other two frowned deeply.

’If what Director Jiang says is true, these Demon Beasts are going to be even tougher than we thought.’

”Director Jiang, do these Demon Beasts have any other abilities?” Chen Yu asked.

Director Jiang nodded. ”Yes, of course they do. Demon Beasts are extremely fast, excelling at hiding and launching sneak attacks. Moreover, they have special offensive capabilities.”

”They have the ability to partially transform. For example, a Demon Beast’s claws can morph into weapons for attacking. At the same time, their horns can fire destructive beams of energy, which are incredibly lethal.”

”Partial transformation, beam attacks...”

Chen Yu nodded, committing these key points to memory.

From Director Jiang’s description alone, he could already tell how difficult these Demon Beasts would be to deal with.

More importantly, there was the shapeshifting ability of the high-level Demon Beasts.

’No obvious tells... that’s going to be a huge problem.’

’If one transformed into an ally and mixed in with us, friendly fire would be highly likely.’

’An ability like that is impossible to fully guard against.’

Once the team split up, it would be easy to fall for their tricks.

This was the first time Chen Yu had ever encountered such a peculiar exotic beast.

It was completely different from any exotic beast he had met before.

’Their abilities are just so bizarre!’

「A little over half an hour later, in a villa estate in the center of Qu City.」

The extended sedan pulled into the villa grounds. Once it stopped, Chen Yu and the others stepped out.

He scanned the villa estate. ’A place like this is a rare sight in Qu City.’

Director Jiang got out of the car and looked at Chen Yu’s group. ”The three of you, this is where you’ll be resting. This way, please!”

Chen Yu and the other two nodded and followed him into the villa.

The villa was huge. As they entered the living room, a middle-aged man with an elegant air stepped forward.

Director Jiang made the introduction. ”This is the villa’s butler. The three of you may ask for anything you need.”

”Greetings, esteemed guests,” the butler said with a polite bow.

”Let’s eat. I’m hungry,” An Ran said, rubbing her tummy.

The butler immediately looked up at them, a smile on his face. ”If you would follow me, honored guests. Dinner has already been prepared.”

Chen Yu and the others didn’t stand on ceremony and followed the butler to the villa’s dining room.

After a satisfying meal in the dining room, the three were each shown to their own rooms.

Director Jiang was also staying here.

After eating and drinking his fill, Chen Yu asked Director Jiang a few more questions about the Tangula Abyss to better prepare himself.

From the current intelligence, it seemed that besides the Demon Beasts, there were other exotic beasts in the Tangula Abyss.

However, no traces of the Alien Race had been found yet. But a note in the Alliance’s files suggested a high probability of the Alien Race hiding in this Abyss; they just hadn’t been discovered yet.

But as for the actual situation, they would only know for sure once they went to the Tangula Abyssal Realm.

After asking about the Tangula Abyss, Chen Yu returned to his room to rest.

’I need to conserve my strength. This trip definitely isn’t going to be easy.’

—

By morning, a vast expanse of white snow had covered the safe zone of Qu City.

Goose-feather-sized snowflakes fluttered down. Snowfall was a common occurrence during winter on the plateau.

After waking up and getting ready, the three ate breakfast in the villa. Afterwards, Director Jiang brought in several people.

They were four fully armed personnel.

Moreover, every one of them was a Level 5 Martial Artist.

These four were the people who would be accompanying them to the Tangula Abyss.

After brief introductions, Director Jiang gave Chen Yu and the other two some simple equipment.

Anti-radiation bracelets!

As for weapons, the three of them didn’t need any.

In a real operation, ordinary weapons wouldn’t be of much help to them.

If it weren’t for the extremely powerful radiation in the Tangula Abyss, they wouldn’t even need the anti-radiation bracelets.

With all preparations complete, the group left the villa estate without further delay.

After taking a car out of the city’s safe zone, the group proceeded to Tangula Mountain on foot.

With their physical conditioning, they were much faster on foot than in a car.

—

The plateau mountain range was a vast expanse of white.

Boundless snow covered the high mountains. Besides white, almost no other color could be seen between heaven and earth.

As they entered the Tangula Mountain range, the snow grew deeper, deep enough to completely bury a person.

For an ordinary Martial Artist, moving through this would be difficult, but for them, it was no problem at all.

Chen Yu used his ice and snow ability, parting the deep snow before them to clear a smooth path.

For him, controlling ice and snow was as easy as turning over his palm!

An awakened Legendary Level ability was no joke.

...

Venturing deep into the Tangula Mountain range, Chen Yu’s group soon reached the heart of the snowy peaks.

At an altitude of four to five thousand meters, the wind and snow howled, and the cold was biting.

But with an ice Ability User like Chen Yu present, the cold wind and snow had no effect on them at all.

”Brother Yu, good thing we have your ability. Otherwise, this trek up the mountain would be a lot harder,” An Ran said as they walked.

Chen Yu smiled faintly. Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly stopped, and his gaze shot forward.

”We’ve got a situation!”

As Chen Yu’s voice rang out, everyone’s nerves instantly tensed.
