Chapter 167: Chapter 166: Starting the Team Fight

Wu Chen timed his arrival perfectly, reaching the demarcation line between the four major sects and the Blood Slaughter Sect twelve days before the secret realm was due to close.

He chose this timing because it allowed for five days to travel there, five days to travel back, one day for killing, and one day for looting.

His schedule was packed.

”Senior Brother Pang, please help me look after my sister here.”

At the demarcation line, Wu Chen found Pang Lei, the son of the Refining Valley’s Sect Leader.

He asked Pang Lei to escort Xue Hongling out of the secret realm.

The Blood Slaughter Sect had no sophisticated management, but the four major sects were different.

They kept track of how many disciples entered and how many came out.

The names of the disciples who died in the secret realm were certainly recorded, making it convenient to distribute compensation to their families later.

Therefore, only someone like Pang Lei, the son of the Refining Valley’s Sect Leader, could handle the matter of an extra person whose name wasn’t on the list.

”That’s no problem at all.”

To Pang Lei, this was a trivial matter. He was just a little confused. ”But Younger Brother Wu, what are you planning?”

Pang Lei scratched his head, looking at Wu Chen in utter confusion. He couldn’t understand why Wu Chen would entrust his own sister to him and what he was up to.

After all, the secret realm was closing in just over ten days. The entrance was already erupting with a pillar of light that soared into the sky, reminding everyone inside to return in time.

”I’m heading over to the Blood Slaughter Sect’s territory to pick some things up,” Wu Chen said vaguely.

”Damn, you’re more vicious than the Blood Slaughter Sect itself...”

Pang Lei understood immediately. Wu Chen was going to rob the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples of their spoils.

And this was precisely the time when those disciples would be returning, laden with their gains.

It was bound to be another fruitful journey.

Pang Lei initially wanted to dissuade him. After all, everyone in the secret realm was at the Jade Bone Realm, and being surrounded was extremely dangerous.

But then he recalled the scene of Wu Chen utterly crushing him, and remembered Wu Chen’s Organ Refining Realm strength. Pang Lei gave up on the idea and prepared to let those core disciples of the Blood Slaughter Sect feel the world’s pain.

”But then again.”

Pang Lei suddenly lowered his voice and leaned in close to Wu Chen’s ear.

”Younger Brother Wu, you’ve picked the perfect time to go to the Blood Slaughter Sect!”

”?”

Wu Chen was puzzled.

Pang Lei continued to explain in a hushed voice:

”My father actually broke through to the Blood Coagulation Realm several months ago, not the Perfection stage of the Organ Refining Realm like the rumors say.”

”So, a few months ago, my father and the other three sect leaders devised a plan. They would wait for the secret realm to open, use it as a shortcut, and launch a surprise attack on the Blood Slaughter Sect.”

”They’re preparing to destroy the Blood Slaughter Sect’s headquarters in one fell swoop.”

”One Blood Coagulation Realm expert, three Sect Leaders at the Perfection of the Organ Refining Realm, and fifty Organ Refining Realm Elders. This time, the Blood Slaughter Sect in the Purple Mist Mountains will definitely be annihilated!” Pang Lei said, pumping his fist in excitement.

Wu Chen raised an eyebrow at this. He hadn’t expected the seemingly refined Sect Leader of Refining Valley to be such a decisive and swift man of action.

The moment he entered the Blood Coagulation Realm, he couldn’t wait to attack the Blood Slaughter Sect.

The Blood Slaughter Sect had probably been living comfortably in the Purple Mist Mountains for a long time. They would never expect something like this and were sure to be caught completely off guard.

Even if they couldn’t be destroyed in one go, dealing a heavy blow wouldn’t be a problem.

Pang Lei continued:

”When the time comes, with your Organ Refining Realm strength, you can block the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples at the secret realm’s entrance. Their Elders will definitely be too busy to rescue them.”

”That way, you can coordinate with our sect’s Elders from the inside and out, and we can wipe out the entire Blood Slaughter Sect, leaving no one behind—eradicating them, root and stem!”

Pang Lei naturally knew that Wu Chen, at the Organ Refining Realm, had few rivals in the secret realm. Otherwise, he couldn’t have made it here so safely, let alone be confident enough to turn back and plunder.

He gazed toward the distant Blood Slaughter Sect, a look of longing in his eyes, and said:

”Unfortunately, my father gave me strict orders to be responsible for the safety of our disciples and other related matters.”

”If anything goes wrong with our sect members, he’ll break my legs when I get back...”

”Otherwise, I’d go with you to intercept those Blood Slaughter Sect disciples!”

Pang Lei certainly had the courage to go to the Blood Slaughter Sect’s area of the secret realm. But faced with the arrangements made by his Blood Coagulation Realm father, he could only suppress his own eagerness for a fight and look after his fellow disciples first.

”Senior Brother Pang, when did Sect Leader Pang leave for the Blood Slaughter Sect?” Wu Chen asked after he finished, his brow furrowing unconsciously. He was getting a little anxious.

After all, Sect Leader Pang starting the fight early was outside of his expectations.

If he couldn’t join the battle, he naturally wouldn’t be able to get a share of the spoils afterward.

Wu Chen couldn’t help but feel a bit impatient.

”My father and the others only left two days ago. They timed it so their attack would coincide with the unaffiliated martial artists leaving the secret realm. When those people scatter, the Blood Slaughter Sect Elders will have to split their forces to intercept them.”

”This makes their whole operation much safer.”

Wu Chen nodded, silently breathing a sigh of relief.

’Two days. If I hurry, I can still make it.’

He looked at Xue Hongling and said in a gentle tone:

”Hong Ling, you go back to Refining Valley with Senior Brother Pang first. I’ll be back soon.”

”Okay. Be careful.”

Xue Hongling nodded. She knew she couldn’t help, and she also knew it was impossible to stop him.

She knew better than anyone what Wu Chen was planning. It was far more than simply intercepting Blood Slaughter Sect disciples, as Pang Lei had suggested.

But then she thought of Wu Chen’s Blood Coagulation Realm strength. ’When I told him to be careful... Maybe I should be saying that to those sect Elders instead.’

After making arrangements for Xue Hongling, Wu Chen said no more. He turned and leaped away, heading toward the Blood Slaughter Sect’s territory.

...

「Purple Mist Mountain. Blood Slaughter Sect.」

「In a mountain pass.」

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The clang of weapons, curses, and shouts of battle echoed incessantly.

This commotion was, of course, caused by the four major sects, who had trekked across mountains and rivers to clash with the Elders of the Blood Slaughter Sect.

After gathering and emerging from the secret realm’s entrance, their leader, Pang Weifeng, wasted no time. He took the initiative to confront the two strongest black-robed Elders.

”Dammit, you bastards came all this way just to die! Fine, I’ll grant your wish!”

”Kill these scumbags!”

”...”

The members of the Blood Slaughter Sect had clearly not expected the four major sects to use the secret realm as a shortcut for a sneak attack. They were caught completely off guard. In an instant, four or five red-robed Elders were killed on the spot, while the rest scrambled to fight back, cursing nonstop.

They themselves had once entertained the same idea: using the secret realm as a shortcut to annihilate the four major sects and claim their resources.

But ever since one of their own Elders was surrounded and killed by his own disciples, they had abandoned that plan.

They never imagined that one day, the four major sects would come knocking on their door!

”No wonder you dared to come here. So, Sect Leader Pang has broken through to the Blood Coagulation Realm. Congratulations, truly, congratulations!”

The two black-robed Elders drew their sabers in unison and slashed at the towering Pang Weifeng. After just a dozen exchanges, they were both sent flying back several yards.

Looking at the tall figure of Pang Weifeng, who stood his ground, one of them laughed.

”Unfortunately for you, the two of us have also recently entered the Blood Coagulation Realm. It seems your sect’s plans are about to fall through.”

”Heh.”

Pang Weifeng took a step forward. ”You talk too much bullshit.”

Seeing that Pang Weifeng wasn’t one for idle chatter, the two black-robed Elders didn’t dare to be arrogant. The drop of dark, glistening essence within their bodies began to spin wildly, and they raised their blood-red blades at the same moment.

WUUUUU!

As the red blades in their hands descended, a mournful wind from their blades swirled around them, filled with the wails of ghosts and howls of demons, as if they had entered a domain of ghouls.

This was the signature move of the Blood Slaughter Sect: the ’Blood Evil Saber Technique’!

Fueled by the drop of Origin Essence in the black-robed Elders’ bodies, this saber technique was no longer just a cacophony of piercing sounds; it had become a truly powerful killing move.

Many of the unaffiliated martial artists, who were trying to take advantage of the chaos to slip away, were lingering at the edges of the various skirmishes.

Some of them unintentionally stepped within five zhang of the black-robed Elders. Upon hearing the piercing shriek, their minds were instantly shattered. Their eyes rolled back, black blood trickled from their seven orifices, and they collapsed into unconsciousness.

This shriek also caused Pang Weifeng to frown slightly, a flicker of change crossing his expression.

However, protected by his own abundant Origin Essence Blood, the attack was nothing more than a nuisance to him, with no other effect.

”You only managed to condense a sliver of Origin Essence through opportunistic tricks and countless heinous deeds.”

Pang Weifeng instantly closed the distance to the black-robed Elders. Ignoring the shrieking, he swung his saber down and sneered:

”And you think you can compare to me?!”
