Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 693: Chapter 511: The Temptation of the Nightmare

”Avoid the Demon Beasts.”

With a slightly anxious urge, the team flapped their wings and swiftly left the sight of others.

Speeding along the way, avoiding the Demon Beasts they encountered, they soon arrived at a new shopping mall.

At this moment, a small half of the shopping mall had become ruins, the air was filled with a pungent scent.

Inside the mall, scattered were the remnants of corpses, and several small Demon Beasts were gnawing on the corpses while searching for fresh food.

In some hidden shops and corners, some people who couldn’t escape were still hiding, clearly aware of the uninvited guests’ arrival.

”It’s Lin Feng’s team!”

A suppressed voice of delight emerged from a shop with iron gates tightly shut; it was a girl’s voice, sounding quite young, with a very delighted tone.

”Keep it down, are you looking to die!”

”Hang in there.”

”Is Lin Feng injured?”

”Go Lin Feng.”

As Lin Feng’s team walked past, voices murmured, soon quieting down again, with no one stepping out.

Though they desperately wanted to escape this hellish place, they knew Lin Feng’s team couldn’t possibly take them away.

Lin Feng’s team’s mission is to hunt Demon Beasts, not to escort people out.

With so many people, Lin Feng’s team couldn’t possibly save them all.

”Hang in there, someone will come to rescue you!”

Leaving these words behind, the team didn’t stop, swiftly traversing through the mall, stopping at a corner near the stairway.

”Yu Qiao and Yang Ningbing, keep watch.”

Bu Yuanlong said.

Yang Ningbing nodded, though she was a Thunder Series Mage, she had absorbed the probing Soul Skill.

A pitch-black Barrier appeared, enveloping everyone within.

Inside the Barrier, Lin Feng’s limbs were bound by four thick vines, suspended in mid-air.

Their gaze toward him was filled with worry and also apprehension and dread.

Lin Feng’s injury on his left chest had already healed, no longer life-threatening, but his consciousness hadn’t returned.

This, to them, seemed far more severe than a physical wound.

Even more concerning.

Because inside Lin Feng is a Demon Spirit.

That Demon Spirit would seize his consciousness!

Control his body!

They couldn’t ensure that this time, with Lin Feng unconscious, the Demon Spirit known as Nightmare wouldn’t take the opportunity to appear.

This was also the reason they refused help from others earlier and hurriedly left.

They didn’t know what that Nightmare was?

Was it really just a Demon Spirit?

If the Demon Spirit had undergone Refinement, why did it still retain its own consciousness?

And why could it occupy Lin Feng’s consciousness and body?

Despite many doubts, it was certain that this Nightmare was very dangerous.

Can’t let it take over Lin Feng’s consciousness.

Can’t expose it.

Once exposed, Lin Feng would be at risk of life.

That’s far more terrifying than the enormous bounty offered by the Alien Race.

No force or nation would allow such a ticking bomb to exist.

Much less if this ticking bomb were at a nuclear level!

The more gifted Lin Feng, the stronger his power, the more horrifying the explosion’s impact.

”What do we do now?” Ye Xing asked gravely.

At this moment, everyone was in Demon Transformation, readying for battle.

”We can only wait, no matter what, wait for Lin Feng to recover before talking.” Bu Yuanlong said.

Lin Feng’s severe injury greatly affected the team.

In past battles, the Demon Beasts Lin Feng killed were far inferior to Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi, but his presence increased the team’s efficiency in hunting Demon Beasts by at least twofold.

He allowed teammates to attack fearlessly and with no reservations.

With him injured, the team still had combat power, but their coordination sharply fell.

With Lin Feng not present, the safety of team members couldn’t be ensured, facing many Demon Beasts, one careless moment could lead to losses.

Multiple gazes focused on Lin Feng, after waiting anxiously for seven to eight minutes, Lin Feng’s furrowed brows finally relaxed, his body trembled slightly, and slowly opened his eyes, bloodshot and weary.

”I’m alright.”

A slightly weakened voice came, everyone felt relieved.

”Put me down.”

Lin Feng softly said, his limbs still bound by vines in mid-air.

”Put you down?”

Seeing Lin Feng awake, Yu Qiao emerged, holding the Crimson Dagger in his right hand, he walked toward Lin Feng: ”Do you know? I’ve had a grudge against you for a long time!”

Hearing this, Lin Feng helplessly replied: ”It’s really me, stop messing around! I don’t have any strength.”

”Just because you say you are, means you are!”

Yu Qiao sneered, then swung the dagger viciously toward Lin Feng’s abdomen.

Others watched this scene, with varying expressions, but no one intervened.

Because they couldn’t determine if the person in front of them was Lin Feng or the Nightmare?

The dagger pierced into the abdomen, as if stabbing into a cluster of blue clouds.

”Still using Soul Skills, sure enough, it’s you, you mutt!”

Yu Qiao pulled out the dagger and cursed harshly.

Being able to launch a deadly attack on Lin Feng proved the Contract had become void.

Lin Feng looked down at the dagger in his chest, pausing slightly for a few seconds.

When he raised his head again, his demeanor had noticeably changed, his gaze ice-cold like an emotionless Divine Spirit, overlooking all beings.

Facing Lin Feng’s gaze, to be precise, facing Nightmare’s gaze, everyone’s expression shifted slightly, instinctively avoiding it, while that gaze contained no killing intent, it made them feel terrified.

Luckily...

Luckily, they had been cautious, otherwise, they would have truly let this Nightmare succeed.

The last time, if not for He Jun and Bing, they couldn’t have stopped this Nightmare.

Unthinkably, they might have faced total annihilation!

Whether it’s Soul Skills or combat awareness, this Nightmare is terrifyingly strong, and that mysterious gray power is too strange, seemingly able to devour all energy.

Fortunately, they had signed the ’Heart Contract,’ the Contract acted upon the soul, preventing them from dealing a mortal blow to Lin Feng, otherwise, it would have been impossible to distinguish Lin Feng’s true self.

”You damn dog, I knew you had issues.”

Yu Qiao cursed while remaining vigilant.

Nightmare glanced at Yu Qiao, not showing anger or killing intent, the gaze seemed to view a small and insignificant ant, having its identity exposed, it didn’t express embarrassment, maintaining calm.

Nightmare leisurely said: ”Giving you a chance, submit to me.”

”Submit, your damn submission!”

Yu Qiao cursed loudly.

This time Nightmare ignored Yu Qiao, knowing he was a reckless fool, not necessary to bother with.

Bound by vines in mid-air, but Nightmare slightly lowered its head, like a god overlooking everyone:

”Lin Feng has already been assimilated by me, sooner or later he will be consumed by me, you can’t be lucky every time, give yourselves a chance, with my strength and abilities, I will lead you to the Peak.”

At this moment, everyone was silent.

Without a doubt, this Nightmare was trying to tempt them.

”Submit, or die!”

Nightmare asked softly.

”You actually threaten me?”

Yu Qiao asked, fiercely thrusting the dagger again into Lin Feng’s abdomen, but this time there was a genuine sensation.

Fresh blood splattered on Yu Qiao’s face, his expression conveyed a trace of ferocity: ”Do you believe I could kill you right now?”

”Do you really think Lin Feng’s life is more important than ours?”

Yun Tianqi asked with a smile, a flash of blue light, the sickle-like Saber pierced into Lin Feng’s abdomen.

Soon after, a long spear stabbed into Lin Feng’s abdomen, followed by a sharp sword...

Blood drenched Lin Feng’s lower body, with blood flowing rapidly, making Lin Feng’s already pale face even paler.

For the first time, his emotionless eyes showed fluctuation.

He sensed his Life Force quickly draining away.

With this rate of blood loss, without staunching the flow, he would die in a minute.

At this moment, Yu Qiao and the others watched quietly as if waiting for death’s arrival.

”Don’t just pop out, ensure absolute certainty before revealing yourself next time, or you will truly perish!” Bu Yuanlong spoke to Nightmare.

”You are interesting.”

Nightmare responded.

He knew this was to give him a choice.

Like last time.

Either the blood runs dry and he perishes along with Lin Feng or his consciousness recedes, quietly lurking within Lin Feng.

As a Demigod, he had used Forbidden Techniques to transform into a Demon Spirit, taking five hundred years to get a chance of rebirth, he certainly wouldn’t abandon it.

Therefore, he could only let his consciousness recede.

To Ye Xing and others, no matter how important Lin Feng was, he wasn’t more important than their own lives.

His previous threat seemed rather laughable....
