Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 688: Chapter 508: Sudden Assassination

Between the streets and alleys, the Lin Feng Squad rapidly hunted every demon beast they encountered along the way.

Others needed rest and to control the consumption of their soul power and spiritual power, but they did not.

In terms of strength and combat experience, they might not be as good as other trainees, but they had their own advantages.

For example, the level of their soul skills.

Their soul skills were extremely high, and describing them as luxurious would not be an exaggeration.

Not to mention the average trainee, even a Spirit King could not compare to them.

If the level of their soul skills were made public, it would make other trainees feel inferior.

Possessing various Diamond and even Divine Level soul skills, the Lin Feng Squad, under the perfect coordination of the ’Heart Contract’ and ’Stand’ soul skills, hunted demon beasts at a speed several times faster than other teams.

Wherever there were many demon beasts, they would go.

Where they passed, they left behind a trail of confused and shocked gazes.

In just half an hour, the Lin Feng Squad had hunted over three hundred demon beasts.

On average, they hunted five demon beasts per minute.

With their strength, ordinary groups of demon beasts had no chance of resisting.

With He Jun’s help, there was no need to worry about the consumption of soul power and stamina, allowing them to unleash their soul skills freely.

However, with the continuous hunting and facing such a large number of demon beasts, injuries were inevitable. Fortunately, the team had two therapists, who could quickly heal any injury that wasn’t severe.

Just having two therapists was something that ordinary teams did not possess.

Moreover, the Lifebound Demon Spirits of Chen Tianming and Dong Yunan were of such high rank that they were incomparable to ordinary therapists.

”Damn it, why are there more demon beasts instead of fewer?”

Ye Xing swung his hand, smashing a fat demon beast weighing nearly two or three thousand pounds onto the ground with blood splattering, cursing fiercely.

After half an hour of hunting, the demon beasts did not seem to decrease at all and instead seemed to be increasing.

”Because we were just on the outskirts, now we’re getting closer to the city center.”

Lin Feng’s expression was cold as he observed the surroundings cautiously.

They were crossing a commercial street.

The once-bustling commercial street had now become ruins, with various clothes and shoes scattered on the ground, as well as bodies.

The streets were littered with corpses, being devoured by low-level Rat Demons.

Despite the gruesome scene being a common sight along the way, it still made everyone look grim.

Upon seeing the sudden arrival of humans, hundreds of calf-sized Rat Demons fled, with only a few remaining, who continued feeding without stopping.

”Disgusting rats.”

Yang Ningbing looked on with disgust, sharply waving her magic staff, and in the next moment, instantaneous lightning descended, instantly turning over thirty Rat Demons into charcoal.

Under the intense electrical currents, the demon spirits had no chance to escape, turning to ash directly.

Chirping sounds echoed.....

The acrid smell of burning filled the air as the remaining Rat Demons tried to dodge the lightning attacks, squeaking in terror, fleeing frantically, only to be pierced by sharp swords.

”Check if there are any more Rat Demons or similar small demon beasts nearby.”

Lin Feng reminded.

These Rat Demons were only Two Tier, with low levels, but they had to be killed.

The Rat Demons might have low levels and weak strength, but they were small, extremely fast, and excelled at hiding.

Encountering them meant an ordinary person couldn’t escape, they’d be devoured alive, dying in misery and extreme pain.

Walking on streets filled with corpses, the Lin Feng Squad maintained a safe distance of no more than fifteen meters apart, the air reeking of a nauseating mix of blood and smoke.

In the dense city center, the team ran swiftly.

Among the crumbling high rises, figures swiftly moved through the ruins and debris.

Suddenly, Lin Feng at the front stopped, waving his hand for the others to halt.

A team of over a hundred people was fleeing in chaos two hundred meters ahead of them.

This group included Martial Artists and Demon Spirit Masters, as well as ordinary people, many of whom were women and children.

These children and women were in the middle of the crowd, shivering as they fled.

They were parched, exhausted, but didn’t dare to fall behind, as those who ran slow had already become demon beast food.

Not long ago, they had watched as friends and family were devoured.....

Some were running numbly, their faces ashen, despairingly awaiting death to descend.

”Twenty-three advanced demon beasts, half of them at the ninth tier.”

Lin Feng floated in mid-air, looking towards the group of demon beasts trailing the fleeing crowd.

”Tactic C.”

Lin Feng said, lightning flashing beneath his feet, his figure twitching as he appeared a hundred meters away.

Simultaneously, the fleeing group also spotted the squad ahead.

”There are people ahead.”

”Only about a dozen.”

”It’s the Lin Feng Squad!”

”We are saved!”

”Help!”

Upon seeing the Lin Feng Squad, the once despairing crowd brightened, exerting their last bit of strength to frantically throw ice spikes towards the squad’s direction.

”Keep some distance from them.”

Yun Tianqi flapped his wings, avoiding the crowd, as the others scattered too.

They intended to save the people but had to maintain distance.

With hefty bounties on their heads, none dared ensure assassins weren’t lurking among the crowd.

This was also one of the reasons they operated separately from the main force.

The fleeing crowd passed through the Lin Feng Squad, quickly entering a mall, vanishing from sight.

They clearly hadn’t considered if the Lin Feng Squad could hold back the demon beasts; at that moment, they merely clung to this sole lifeline.

Meanwhile, bubbles quickly emerged, flying all over the place, followed by explosions in the next second.

The bubbles stopped the demon beasts from pursuing the crowd, making the beasts halt, realizing this human squad was not to be trifled with, though they did not retreat.

With the battle strategy decided, everyone had begun preparing soul skills before the arrival of the demon beast group.

At this moment, Yun Kai’s body emitted a brilliant golden light, condensing a sky full of golden swords above.

Simultaneously, the ground vibrated slightly, with tough ground cracking as vines and sprouts broke through.

These vines grew visibly in the air, intertwining, sprouting branches, various shaped plants emerging rapidly.

Colorful mushrooms popped up from the ground, releasing a special fragrance, forming a small Forest Cage in mere seconds.

Before the cage had fully formed, Huang Tianze had disappeared.

He wove webs as he moved through the branches and vines.

Chen Tianming launched his soul skill rapidly, trapping over a dozen demon beasts, with the rest dispersing, charging at the squad.

Flames surged out, burning a large hole in the Forest Cage, as three ninth tier demon beasts charged through, only to be greeted by the golden Sword Rain.

As the Sword Rain descended, the three beasts dodged swiftly, with two escaping, and one pinned in place, pierced by the sea of swords, its horrific cries echoing...

After half an hour, the battle concluded.

At this moment, aside from He Jun, everyone was battered with wounds, panting heavily, the intense hunting leaving them utterly exhausted.

Needing to finish the battle quickly, repeatedly unleashing high level soul skills, their soul and spiritual power couldn’t replenish as fast as it was being consumed.

As the battle had just ended, with everyone’s tense nerves barely relaxing, a black spike suddenly shot up from the ground, like a scorpion tail, aiming directly at He Jun, who was drinking water with no guard up.

Without a sound or warning, the black spike came silently and swiftly.

It happened so quickly there was no time to react.

Ye Qiu and Yun Kai stood beside He Jun and Dong Yunan, and when they noticed the attack, their pupils dilated slightly, wanting to warn and stop it, but it was too late.

The spike had already appeared at He Jun’s chest.

Pfft!

The chilling sound accompanied by the splatter of blood left everyone with shocked and dazed expressions, as if they hadn’t yet processed what had happened.

In their sight, a figure was impaled by the black spike through the left chest, just hanging in mid-air, with blood slowly dripping from the spike.

”Brother Feng...”

He Jun fell to the ground, staring at the figure suspended in the air, her eyes filled with terror and bewilderment.

Substitution soul skill?

It was the Substitution soul skill!

At the moment she was about to die, Lin Feng had used the Substitution soul skill to switch places with her.
