Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 580: Chapter 417: The Glutton’s Instinct

Bu Yuanlong.

Twenty years ago, this name was more popular than Ye Qiu and Yun Kai, and could even be compared to the current Lin Feng.

At that time, he had not yet broken through to King level, but was already hailed as the person most likely to become an Emperor.

If it hadn’t been for the ”Fish Dragon Transformation” cultivation technique, he might have already broken through both Martial King and Spirit King, reaching the Double King state.

Although he hasn’t broken through to King level, no one doubts Bu Yuanlong’s strength.

If he took action, the likelihood of obtaining a quota would be very high.

”Thank you, I understand.” Lin Feng expressed his gratitude.

The look Jiang Jun gave Bu Zheng made Lin Feng understand why Jiang Jun told him this news.

Bu Zheng also knew, but he didn’t care.

Only he knows that Lin Feng’s current strength is not weaker than his, and may even be stronger.

This time’s quota competition doesn’t require his help at all.

”No worries, I don’t know if this suggestion will be accepted. Even if it is, it’s not a secret, and you’ll know eventually.”

Jiang Jun said indifferently, and after a brief chat, he left.

As always, he still had high hopes for Lin Feng’s future. Doing Lin Feng a favor now might yield a return in the future.

After Jiang Jun left, Yu Qiao’s eyes darted around as he looked at Yun Tianqi and Ye Xing and asked, ”How come you guys didn’t know about this news?”

”We’re all retired, are we supposed to know?” Yun Tianqi replied somewhat irritably.

Ye Xing’s face also didn’t look good.

If nothing unexpected happens, they’ve been abandoned.

Although they just attended the meeting yesterday and learned about the King Becoming plan, they are not seen as contenders for the quota by the club.

Front-line players, former All-Star players, those at the Peak of Ninth Grade and one step away from King level, are the ones the club cares about.

Because they retired voluntarily, they offended the club.

So even though there’s this ’every hero needs a helping hand’ plan, the club didn’t plan on letting them participate.

Though they hadn’t intended to rely on the club to secure quotas, being discarded feels incredibly uncomfortable.

”You better not end up asking them for help, or that’d be awkward.”

Lin Feng glanced at Yu Qiao and said.

Yu Qiao was clearly asking knowingly and was gloating, intentionally provoking Yun Tianqi and Ye Xing.

”Oh no, I’m just concerned about our teammates!”

Yu Qiao’s expression changed, realizing that Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi were the key to obtaining the quota. If he wanted to participate in the King Becoming plan, he might need their help, so he quickly chuckled awkwardly.

”You better keep a low profile for the next six months.” Yun Tianqi said angrily.

Inside the cage, the little elf cautiously poked her head out, tears welling up in her eyes as she listened to the humans talk. She continued to tremble until a big face suddenly appeared in front of her, scaring her so much that her face changed, and she let out a sharp cry, ”Ah!”

”What are you looking at?”

Little Sister Dong asked curiously as she carried the cage and leaned in front of it.

”Its head lowered again, such a timid thing!” He Jun also laughed.

This little elf is really cute, so adorable.

With distinctive black hair and black eyes, aside from its size and having wings, it’s no different from an ordinary human child, but isn’t its courage just a bit too small?

The banquet didn’t last long; about an hour later, the group returned to the hotel.

”Here you go, Brother Feng.”

Little Sister Dong handed the cage over to Lin Feng reluctantly.

”If you like it, you can keep it. Why give it to me?”

Such a cute little creature would be liked by everyone, and Lin Feng was no exception, but he had never raised small animals. Raising a pet was no different from raising a daughter, and he didn’t have the time or patience for it.

Little Sister Dong shook her head helplessly, ”I can’t afford to keep it.”

”Then ask your dad to sell it. I don’t have time to raise it.” Lin Feng said.

”Really going to sell it, huh!”

Little Sister Dong looked reluctant. She really wanted to keep it, but sadly didn’t have the financial means!

Elves like this, though rare, are not unheard of.

Because they are intelligent, small in size, and similar in appearance to humans, they’ve always been the preferred choice for high-end markets when it comes to pet beasts.

On major forums, people also post daily routines of raising elves, and it gets a lot of popularity.

So they are quite familiar with elves.

Elves eat anything like humans do, but it’s merely to satiate hunger. To maintain their condition and life force, they must eat things containing spiritual power and life force, like spirit fruits or Essence of Life.

Without these, or if they don’t consume enough, elves would face issues with their bodies — losing hair, skin losing luster, weakness, losing flight and special abilities, eventually leading to death.

The cost of feeding one for a year could go into the billions; such a precious pet is out of reach for ordinary people.

Elves generally aren’t very powerful, with the strongest reaching only high tier, never achieving King level strength.

If it had special abilities, it wouldn’t be an issue; mainly, this little elf has no abilities, and keeping it merely as a pet is indeed too extravagant.

”If you want to sell, go ahead.”

Little Sister Dong pushed the cage into Lin Feng’s hands. Before leaving, she couldn’t help but glance back twice.

Lin Feng helplessly took the cage, glancing down at the little elf, which was still curled up and trembling with its head buried.

”It indeed has a very small courage.”

Uncle Lin Bing said awkwardly.

Having borrowed five billion from this cheap nephew on their first meeting, even the present he brought felt inadequate, truly awkward.

”Mom, look who’s here?”

Lin Feng didn’t mind; entering the room, he called out loudly.

Lin Fang and Old Ma were watching TV in the living room. Hearing the voice, they got up to see Lin Bing behind Lin Feng, exchanging puzzled looks.

”Seventh Sister, it’s me, Lin Bing.”

”Lin Bing? Little brother, what brings you to Shangjing?”

Lin Fang exclaimed with surprise.

When she left home, Lin Bing was only twelve years old, still a child; now he was in his thirties, and naturally, she wouldn’t recognize him.

Two years ago, when she returned to her father’s house, she heard Lin Bing had his leg broken by their father and was kicked out, whereabouts unknown. She was worried and never expected to run into him in Shangjing.

”I ran into Lin Feng at the banquet, and it’s been years since we last met, so I thought I’d come by and see you all.”

Lin Bing said, looking somewhat embarrassed.

The scene of this reunion was completely different from the vow he made when his father broke his leg: ’ten years east of the river, ten years west of the river, never underestimate a poor young man.’

Seeing her brother she hadn’t seen in years, Lin Fang was very emotional. Without asking more questions, she said to her daughter, ”Ke Rou and Lele, say hello to your uncle.”

”Uncle.”

Ma Lele and the others quickly called out, and soon Ma Lele’s attention was drawn to the little cage in Lin Feng’s hand!

”Little Elf!”

Ma Lele exclaimed, quickly running over to Lin Feng, drawing closer to the cage, looking over and over again.

”Brother, where did you get a Little Elf? And with black hair and black eyes, so unique?”

Ma Lele asked in delight.

”Do you like it? You can have it to play with,” Lin Feng said, handing the cage to his sister.

Holding the cage in her hands, Ma Lele was overjoyed, ”Brother, why is she not wearing any clothes, and why is she shivering? Is it because the air conditioning is too cold?”

”She’s not cold, just scared.”

”Then can we open the cage and dress her?”

Ma Lele eagerly asked, at which point even the eldest sister was curiously looking at the Little Elf.

”Ask your uncle; it’s a gift from him,” Lin Feng said.

”Little brother, you’re quite rich now! You really wasted money on this!”

Lin Fang said in astonishment.

The Little Elf didn’t look cheap, probably at least in the millions. Had her brother become wealthy?

Giving a pet worth millions as a simple meeting gift?

”No, this one has no innate abilities, not expensive.”

Seeing Lin Feng didn’t mention his debts, Lin Bing was grateful, finally feeling a weight lifted off his heart.

”Uncle, can I open the cage?”

Ma Lele asked with wide eyes, full of expectation.

”Sure, play as you like. She’s very timid and has no innate abilities. She hasn’t been fed Spirit Fruit either, so she can’t fly far,” Lin Bing said.

Ma Lele nodded repeatedly, grabbed the cage, and ran into her room, soon emerging with a Barbie doll dressed in a pink dress.

”Sister, take off the Barbie doll’s clothes,”

Ma Lele handed the Barbie doll to Lin Kerou, then opened the cage and reached in to pick up the Little Elf.

The Little Elf looked hopeless. She had stopped crying, but her eyes were dull and listless, and she trembled in Ma Lele’s hands.

”Don’t be afraid, I’ll dress you,”

Ma Lele softly comforted.

The two carefully dressed the Little Elf in the small dress. The Little Elf didn’t resist, didn’t dare to resist. Seeing the pink dress, a glimmer of light returned to her previously hopeless eyes.

It actually looked quite nice.

Dressed in the pink dress, the Little Elf, already cute, looked even more charming, even Lin Fang couldn’t help but reach out to touch her.

”Brother, what does she eat?”

Seeing the Little Elf, whose body was stiff and face was pale, Ma Lele asked.

”She can eat meals and snacks,” Lin Feng said.

”Snacks!”

Ma Lele trotted her little legs to find a heap of snacks from the living room cabinet.

She placed the snacks in front of the Little Elf: chocolate, cola, chips, crisps, little cakes. The variety of snacks dazzled the Little Elf.

As an Elf, she had never seen anything so delicious.

Previously, those who saw her without any talents wouldn’t even give her good food; some even mistreated her, not feeding her, even beating and scolding her.

She used to be chubby, but had become skinny from hunger.

When Ma Lele opened a piece of chocolate cake and placed it before the Little Elf, her foodie instincts stopped her trembling. After a hesitant second or two, she slightly opened her mouth and took a bite.

Once she started eating, there was no stopping.

”She eats more than I do,”

Ma Lele remarked in delight as she fed her, surprised.

The Little Elf, only ten centimeters tall, smaller than a Barbie doll, with a pale face showing malnutrition, yet she ate two small cakes, a bag of chips, and a small bottle of cola.

Altogether, they weighed more than the Little Elf, but her body size hadn’t changed much.

”Don’t feed her anymore, or she’ll overeat!”

Lin Fang quickly cautioned, fearing health problems from overeating.

”It’s fine, she can eat a lot; she burns through it quickly.”

Lin Bing said, ”But if you’re really looking to keep her, you’ll need to feed her some Spirit Fruit every week. That way, she can maintain her life force; otherwise, she’ll age.”

”She can age?”

Ma Lele exclaimed, wide-eyed with surprise.

Lin Feng went back to his room and brought out a small bottle of Essence of Life.

When he opened the cap, the smell made the Little Elf’s eyes light up, and her body emitted a slight glow. By now, she had forgotten what fear was; she flapped her colorful wings, hesitantly flying to Lin Feng. She seemed a bit unsure, but perhaps tempted by the Essence of Life, she finally landed on Lin Feng’s shoulder.

As Lin Feng turned his head, the Little Elf’s body shuddered, quickly showing a flattering expression, ”Human, you’re so handsome!”
