Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 347: Chapter 257: Contract

Peace Beast, this is an extremely timid low-level demon beast. Peace Beast is just a nickname; its real name is Little Green Monster. However, because of its innate soul skill called the Peace Contract, it is referred to as the Peace Beast.

As a demon spirit on the Exotic Beast Chart, Little Green Monster’s combat power is nearly zero, and any low-level demon beast can easily crush it.

However, Little Green Monster has a particular knack for finding protection.

Though this green little monster is weak in combat, it is always accompanied by advanced demon beasts, and when danger arises, its bodyguards appear to protect it.

People find it puzzling why even King Level demon beasts would protect such a pathetically weak low-level demon beast, and some even call Little Green Monster an Auspicious Beast.

After all, the trait of being protected by powerful demon beasts seems to be a hallmark of Auspicious Beasts.

Some speculate that Little Green Monster has an innate soul skill that allows demon beasts to evolve or aids in their cultivation, thus making it a target for adventurers.

It wasn’t until someone killed Little Green Monster and absorbed its soul skill that the truth came to light.

The Peace Beast, known for eliciting protection from demon beasts, primarily relies on its innate skill, the Peace Contract.

This is a soul skill with no power and no supportive ability, yet due to its rarity and special effects, it is rated as a Purple Gold soul skill.

Though its level is high, ultimately it is a Purple Gold soul skill nobody wants to refine.

Lin Feng’s absorption of the Peace Beast’s soul skill was shocking enough.

When Lin Feng spoke of signing the Peace Contract, Zhan Tianyu and the others were even more bewildered.

Why, out of nowhere, would they sign a Peace Contract?

The Peace Beast’s innate soul skill, the Peace Contract, requires the absorption of soul power.

The absorption of soul power brings unimaginable pain as well as aftereffects.

Soul power is not the same as soul energy; when soul energy is depleted, you can quickly recover by absorbing a demon spirit. However, if soul power is lacking, it is difficult to repair and might even affect the foundation of cultivation.

Although the records say that the soul power expended is not much, those are just records. Few have refined the Peace Beast and signed a contract with it, so no one can guarantee the impact. If it affects future cultivation, then it would be too late for regret.

”Why sign the contract?”

Yu Qiao directly asked.

He understood that for Lin Feng to pay such a high cost in absorbing the Peace Beast’s soul skill, he must have a purpose. However, to make them sacrifice soul power and sign such an unequal contract, there must be an answer.

Including Yun Kai, everyone was somewhat puzzled, though Yue Mingming suspected something.

He understood why Lin Feng would absorb this soul skill and thus remained the calmest.

However, he said nothing, quietly observing the reactions of those around him.

”There’s no specific reason. Think of it as a blood oath ceremony. I wish to establish an alliance. You are my trusted partners, but the world is too complicated. I want to ensure absolute trust. If you’re willing, then sign the contract. If not, feel free to leave.”

Lin Feng said calmly.

He wanted to create an unprecedented alliance, so he wasn’t considering the side effects of the Nightmare.

But to pay such a high price, apart from the talent requirements, character is more important.

The Peace Contract is actually a unilateral agreement where he holds the advantage.

As the possessor of the soul skill, if the contract is established, the other party cannot harm him, but there is no constraint on him, and he doesn’t need to sacrifice any soul power.

But aside from not being able to harm him, Lin Feng could not ensure that the other party wouldn’t do other bad deeds, which is why he needed to ensure the character of the other party.

The character of these eight people in front of him had been tested by Lin Feng.

The Nightmare’s special ability is truly unique, almost like a cheat code. For any demon spirit master, soul skills are of utmost importance.

If Nightmare’s abilities were exposed, Lin Feng could imagine himself becoming one of the top ten on the Human Race’s bounty list, with countless numbers wanting to kill him.

At the same time, there would be countless others seeking his help.

Even King level experts, even Emperor level experts, would seek his assistance.

Because even for Emperor level experts, soul skills are of critical importance.

With his current strength, does he have the ability to refuse?

If he does not refuse, with the Nightmare’s side effects, how long can he last?

This is why Lin Feng chose to absorb the Peace Contract, sacrificing a precious soul skill to eliminate potential future dangers.

”Brother Feng, I’ll go first.”

Compared to others’ hesitation, Yun Kai directly stepped in front of Lin Feng, making his choice and setting an example.

Lin Feng nodded, saying no more. He gently patted the illusory body of the Peace Monster, and the half-meter-tall little creature floated to Yun Kai’s front, opening its maw with sharp teeth, inhaling slightly.

”Hmm...”

A muffled groan escaped from Yun Kai, his face immediately turning pale, his body trembling slightly, enduring the intense pain. At the same time, strands of white luminescent mist were absorbed into the little creature’s mouth, forming a special golden mark at the chest of the little creature.

The coin-sized mark was indistinct but vaguely resembled Yun Kai.

The contract signing was quick, and the aftereffects were apparent. Yun Kai seemed exhausted, and only after consuming a few Soul Nourishing Pills did he somewhat recover, though his face remained pale.

”What does it feel like?”

Zhan Tianyu asked curiously.

”With my eyes closed, I can clearly sense Brother Feng’s location, but aside from that, there’s not much feeling.”
