Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 322: Chapter 240: The Barrier Dissipates

Lin Feng exited the state of Dragon Fish and Nightmare Possession.

Both cultivation techniques ceased operation, and his muscles and bones began to contract, making Lin Feng quickly revert from a giant back to an ordinary person.

When in giant form, Lin Feng’s injuries seemed better managed, but now having exited it, they appeared particularly wretched.

At this moment, Lin Feng was bruised all over, his entire body covered with wounds ripped by claws, his flesh a bloody mess, leaving no intact spot except for his head.

His chest and thighs, where the clothes were torn, revealed exposed skin with seven or eight serious wounds.

The surface of the wounds was pitted and large chunks of flesh had been gouged out.

In some areas, even the white bones were clearly visible.

Pain made Lin Feng’s body uncontrollably tremble slightly.

From his bosom, he pulled out a crystal bottle containing Qi and Blood Pills and Soul Nourishing Pills, poured out a large handful, more than twenty pills, and without counting, chewed them up and swallowed them.

He then took out two more crystal bottles from his pocket, pouring the powdery healing medicine directly onto the wounds, and the pain made him grit his teeth and grimace.

Afterward, his eyes were fixedly staring at the flickering flame at his right fingertip, a semi-transparent black flame with a hint of chill.

”How can I use Demon Flame?”

Lin Feng murmured to himself, his eyes not only incredulous but also somewhat bewildered.

Just now, he instinctively sensed something unusual within him, a feeling he had experienced before, akin to absorbing a soul skill.

When he thought it was just his imagination, the Demon Flame appeared at his fingertip.

This made Lin Feng somewhat reluctant to believe his eyes.

It is known that the Demon Spirit a Demon Spirit Master refines, imbued with the refiner’s Soul Power, cannot be absorbed or used by another Demon Spirit Master.

If a Demon Spirit Master dies, the Demon Spirit within will also dissipate, fading into nothingness.

This is common knowledge known to everyone.

Except for the Soul-devouring Beast ranked second on the Exotic Beast Chart, there’s never been any other Demon Spirit known to absorb soul skills from already refined Demon Spirits.

Moreover, even the Soul-devouring Beast can only absorb some innate skills, which are not only weaker but may also be incomplete.

But the Demon Flame at his fingertip was undoubtedly a complete innate skill.

Lin Feng looked down at the motionless figure lying in a pool of blood by his feet.

How did he absorb the Netherworld Dragon’s innate skill?

Or perhaps it was the Nightmare that absorbed the Demon Flame.

At that moment just now, the Nightmare actually controlled his body, something that had never happened before.

”The Nightmare can actually control my body!”

After the shock, Lin Feng felt deeply uneasy.

This control, though brief, Lin Feng quickly sensed it and could instantly reclaim control over his body.

However, clearly, this was a dangerous omen.

Could it be due to increased assimilation?

Or had the Nightmare been hiding all along, only revealing itself today?

This was undoubtedly an unsolved mystery, and Lin Feng did not dwell too much on the question.

”The Nightmare has clearly grown stronger!”

Frowning, Lin Feng could distinctly feel that the energy fluctuations of the Nightmare had intensified after absorbing the Demon Flame.

At this moment, the Nightmare was displaying excitement and agitation in the Soul Sea.

The Dragon Fish stayed far away, trembling slightly, not daring to approach the Nightmare, as if fearing being devoured by it.

The stronger the Nightmare becomes, the faster it will assimilate and consume souls, which is undoubtedly bad news for Lin Feng.

Over these years, apart from absorbing soul skills and in life-and-death crises, he would rarely use the power of the Nightmare, not wanting to accelerate the assimilation process.

Although Lin Feng exited the state of Nightmare Possession, the black flame at his right fingertip did not disappear, nor did its power weaken.

This feeling was different from the soul skills absorbed by the Dragon Fish.

Soul skills absorbed by the Dragon Fish could only manifest partial power without Demon Possession, and could not be controlled as freely and effortlessly as with Demon Possession.

However, the soul skills absorbed by the Nightmare felt instinctual, akin to a natural bloodline ability that Lin Feng could wield freely!

”Is it because of the assimilation?” Lin Feng speculated.

”The Nightmare was assimilated by my blood, even able to temporarily control my body. From another perspective, the Nightmare is also the master of this body, perhaps this is why I can perfectly use soul skills without Demon Possession!”

Lin Feng quickly figured it out, seemingly only this reason could explain it.

This was undoubtedly beneficial for Lin Feng.

In other words, from now on when using the Nightmare, aside from innate soul skills, other soul skills don’t require Demon Possession, avoiding the danger of exposing the Nightmare.

”If the Nightmare can absorb soul skills, why hasn’t it absorbed any before?”

Sitting on the ground, Lin Feng began to ponder while regaining his strength.

From Hai Wei’s words, Lin Feng had already confirmed that the Nightmare within him was actually a demigod.

This demigod transformed into a Demon Spirit through an unimaginable method, becoming another type of life, allowing Demon Spirit Masters to absorb it into the Soul Sea and refine it.

Since it has already transformed into a Demon Spirit, absorbing soul skills shouldn’t be impossible.

However, previously, Lin Feng had also killed many alien race geniuses.

Although the Nightmare occasionally displayed abnormalities, like emotional agitation, it never absorbed any soul skills.

”Is it because the Nightmare has grown stronger, or because the previous soul skills were too low-level to interest it?”

Lin Feng surmised, leaning more towards the latter.

Previously, among those alien races he killed, most were small fries, not genuine alien geniuses, and the highest soul skills they possessed were only of Gold level.
