Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 54: Chapter 52: Growing Notoriety, More Than You Can Handle

Wan Ze felt a fierce wind rush toward his face. Unexpectedly, he didn’t dodge. Instead, quick as lightning, he brought his arm down in a chop, colliding perfectly with the hand aiming for his eyes.

The opponent’s expression changed drastically, his arm stinging with pain. But he was also nimble. He hooked his two fingers inward, attempting to seize the nerve on Wan Ze’s elbow joint.

If that move connected, Wan Ze would surely have the nerve in his elbow pinched, leaving his arm paralyzed.

Lei Ming’s face twisted in shock and anger when he saw this. At his current distance, there was no way he could get there in time to help.

However, Wan Ze didn’t need saving at all.

With a shake of his arm, it went slack and soft, like snapping a long pole, and violently flung the man’s fingers away.

The man winced in pain, sucking in a sharp breath. He staggered, about to retreat, but he never expected Wan Ze to be the kind of person you could attack and then escape from at will!

Wan Ze’s body moved like a swimming dragon as he continuously pressed forward. With a single, unbreaking surge of momentum, his arm shot out like a long spear, breaking through the opponent’s guard and thrusting straight down.

”Shit, this guy is actually this strong!” The man blocked forcefully. Feeling the fierce wind on his face, he already sensed the situation was turning greatly against him.

Seeing Wan Ze’s second fist coming, someone from the opposing group roared in shock and anger, trying to stop him: ”Stop!”

The one who spoke was tall, and his suit was a custom-made designer brand, marking him as either rich or noble. At this moment, his brows were furrowed as he glared furiously at Wan Ze.

’Stop?’

’Stop, my ass!’

Wan Ze’s punch flew into the wind with ferocious power and astonishing explosive force. Completely ignoring the opponent’s attempts to dodge, it viciously slammed into the man’s shoulder.

”CRACK!”

The sound of a bone breaking rang out, and the man was sent flying backward, completely unable to defend himself.

”You dare!”

The tall man saw his younger brother severely injured and was overcome with fury. He strode forward and charged straight over. Wan Ze didn’t back down in the slightest. ”You coward who only knows how to sneak attack. You tell me if I dare or not!”

This time, before Wan Ze could step forward, Zhai Jia had already moved to block his path, staring coldly at the tall man before him. ”Tong Run, your opponent is me!”

”None of you are getting away today!” Tong Run ripped off his suit jacket, his expression savage. With a wave of his large hand, he commanded, ”Everyone, break their legs! I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens!”

”Tong Run, you can’t afford to!” Zhai Yu’s voice suddenly came from behind him.

Tong Run’s expression froze.

He turned to look back in disbelief.

Zhai Yu’s eyes were cold. ”You broke the rules this time. The Tong Family can’t protect you!”

”Zhai—Yu, you—dare?!”

”CRACK!”

Tong Run’s left leg was broken on the spot. He let out a bloodcurdling scream and fell to his knees.

Zhai Yu glanced around at the few remaining bodyguards in black suits. ”Go back and tell the Tong Family I’m taking him back to the Holy City. Tell them to think carefully about how they’re going to ask for him back!”

He grabbed Tong Run and looked at Wan Ze and the others. ”We’re leaving.”

Zhai Jia conveniently commandeered a car and drove Wan Ze. Lei Ming followed Zhai Yu, responsible for escorting the unconscious Tong Run.

Just like that, the two cars brazenly returned to the Holy City.

...

”Ah Ze, your Iron Mountain Fist is really profound,” Zhai Jia couldn’t help but praise.

”My skill is nothing special. Speaking of which, Brother Yu is that strong? I didn’t even see how he got over there,” Wan Ze asked curiously.

”My brother specializes in a Body Technique. The thing is, it requires too much talent, so I never trained in it... This time, consider it me owing you a favor for getting you guys into danger. Those bastards from the Tong Family!” Zhai Jia said, ashamed and also a little angry.

Wan Ze waved his hand, not taking the matter to heart at all. ”It’s nothing.”

”Well, I don’t have much else to offer. How about I spar with you for a bit?”

”??? So that’s what you were waiting for.”

The two of them laughed.

”Let’s go.”

Zhai Yu took Lei Ming to their master’s place, while Zhai Jia and Wan Ze were sparring intensely in the back courtyard.

A moment later.

Wan Ze discreetly glanced at his data screen.

Originally, the Special Level mission for the Mysterious Shadow Step required walking 500,000 meters, plus three dodges.

He hadn’t expected that a fight in An City would nearly complete the mission, leaving only the last 300,000 meters.

’Three hundred kilometers... What a grind!’

Lei Ming and Zhai Yu quickly walked out of Situ Bai’s room. He had a smile on his face. ”All set. The items have been temporarily stored at the martial arts hall. I’ll go inform Professor Song. Also, about the Tong Family, Master said... the Tong Family specifically called him when we got back. They want to get their man, and Master told them to pay a ransom first.”

”Not a ransom, a lodging fee!” Zhai Yu corrected, clearing his throat with a light cough.

Lei Ming nodded repeatedly. ”Right, right, a lodging fee. A fifty-thousand-a-night lodging fee, hehehe.”

Wan Ze was utterly amazed.

’You can even do that?’

’I’ve learned something new!’

Zhai Jia suddenly chimed in, ”Isn’t a lodging fee letting that bastard off too easy? Ever heard of exorbitantly priced mineral water? Every single grain of rice at our Dragon Eagle hall will be charged at an astronomical price... He won’t eat? If he won’t eat, we’ll shove it down his throat! The Dragon Eagle way of hospitality is all about making guests feel at home!”

Wan Ze and Lei Ming silently gave him a thumbs-up.

Right. Lesson learned, and best forgotten.

...

After leaving the Inner Courtyard, Wan Ze went to the student classes in the front courtyard. Zhou Xianchuan was huffing and puffing, focused on his Qi and Blood Refining. But with Master Qin personally overseeing things, Zhou Xianchuan didn’t dare to slack off.

”Master Qin.” Wan Ze walked over to Master Qin’s side. He was grateful to the old master; if Master Qin hadn’t given him a push back then, he wouldn’t have been noticed by the hall’s master so quickly.

”Back from An City? I heard you even broke the leg of someone from the Tong Family and brought them back?” Master Qin suddenly asked.

Wan Ze was taken aback for a moment, then nodded.

”The Tong Family is not a good bunch. Let the Zhai Family brothers deal with this matter. If you can stay out of it, stay out of it,” Master Qin advised pointedly.

Wan Ze didn’t understand why he would say that, so Master Qin had no choice but to explain, ”Years ago, the Tong Family also cooperated with us at Dragon Eagle, but we later went our separate ways... An elder of the Zhai Family brothers got into huge trouble back then because the Tong Family betrayed them, which is why they’re now mortal enemies. In An City, the Tong Family can be considered the local tyrants. Let them fight it out themselves. The Zhai Family won’t suffer any real harm.”

”I understand. Thank you for the reminder, Master Qin,” Wan Ze said gratefully.

Master Qin waved his hand and smiled. ”You’re a smart kid. I’m only saying this to have you avoid the sharp edge for now. When your Martial Dao improves in the future, and you become like your master, forget the Tong Family—even those people at the foot of the Royal City will have to show you some respect.”

Wan Ze asked curiously, ”Is my master that incredible?”

”Hahaha, of course he is... When your master was young, he was the type to kill without bothering to bury the body.” Master Qin chuckled, but seemed unwilling to say more, as if there were some old stories he’d rather not tell. After a moment, he continued, ”The Blood Tempering Realm is all about the foundation. Only with a solid foundation can you go far. You’re still young, so your future potential is even greater... Don’t be too aggressive or competitive. Their lives aren’t worth as much as yours.”

”I have learned my lesson.”

Wan Ze understood the old man meant well, but the world was a strange place.

Sometimes, you don’t want to cause trouble, but trouble insists on finding you.

After leaving the martial arts hall, Wan Ze began his ten-kilometer cross-country run. He never imagined that, by sheer coincidence, he would run into Miss Ling.

”Let me go!!!”

Two men in black suits flanked Miss Ling, forcibly dragging and shoving her toward a car. Miss Ling, her face stained with tears, struggled desperately, but it was no use.

”Wan Ze!!!”

”Wan Ze, save me! No, you have to get away!”

She suddenly saw Wan Ze and shouted frantically.

Hearing this, the two men in black sharply raised their heads and also saw Wan Ze. One of them made a move to reach into his coat.

Almost simultaneously, Wan Ze took a large step.

And launched himself into the air!
