Make the Immortal Sect Great Again

Of course, it wasn’t that he distrusted the Fire Qi lineage.

It was mainly because he had been screwed over one too many times.

The memory of all the True Persons teaming up to trap him in the Eight Trigrams Furnace was seared into his mind. To this day, Wang Ping could still recall the terror of that moment.

Once bitten, twice shy. And this time, the stakes had risen even higher. He was now directly embroiled in a game between True Monarchs and Bodhisattvas. Compared to them, he hadn’t even reached Qi Refining yet. A gap of three entire major realms made it incredibly hard for him to feel secure.

Mingde took one look at Wang Ping and immediately understood his mindset.

’Thinking everything is a trap—classic Water Qi behavior.’

Thinking of this, he hurried to say, ”Of course, Junior Brother, you can return to the Deity Transformation Realm first to ask for the lord’s guidance before making your decision.”

”Mhm...”

Wang Ping’s brows did not unknit at those words. After all, what if the Water Qi True Monarch decided to screw him over too? He had just thrown Wang Ping under the bus, leaving him to be hunted by the Brahma Nation’s Ascetic Monks!

Seeing that Wang Ping’s expression showed absolutely no sign of relaxing, Mingde felt a bit helpless. He could only lament the moral decay of the Immortal Dao, where no one had even a shred of trust for each other. The main reason, of course, was that everyone had their own hidden agendas. Judging others by their own standards, they naturally refused to trust anyone easily, terrified that someone else might profit at their expense. Furthermore, up until now, all communication had been handled by lower-level cultivators like them. The True Monarch had yet to reveal his true stance.

’Whatever!’

A moment later, Wang Ping raised his head, casting aside his many doubts. He had suddenly figured it out: he had to do this no matter what.

Besides, his own True Monarch should still be somewhat trustworthy.

At the very least, he had handed over the Nurturing Qi, Forgetting Words, Guarding the One Scripture, instead of locking down his cultivation and trapping him at the Corpse Dissolution Immortal stage like Daoist Master Hanguang Danyang had done.

This proved the difference in their styles.

Daoist Master Hanguang Danyang was the typical sort who wanted the horse to run without feeding it any hay. As for his own True Monarch, while he was constantly cracking the whip to make Wang Ping run...

At least he provided the hay.

Therefore, Wang Ping decided to put a little more trust in him.

With that thought, Wang Ping stopped hesitating and smiled. ”Since Senior Brother says so, I’ll ask for guidance first before making a decision.”

However, before that, Wang Ping still had one more thing to do.

’By now, the fact that I was hunted by Brahma Nation Ascetic Monks and forced to advance to a Corpse Dissolution Immortal on the run has probably spread throughout the entire Immortal Gate.’

This would spawn a lot of trouble.

Holy Maiden Xuanxiao, Holy Son Hanguang, and the others actually suspected his true identity, but their preconceived notions about Water Qi kept them from being certain.

’But now that I’ve become a Corpse Dissolution Immortal, these people will definitely grow bolder. After all, no one has ever heard of an Immortal Dao Child becoming a Corpse Dissolution Immortal. They’ll assume my path is severed and that I’ve been abandoned by the True Monarch. Then they’ll swarm in, hoping to carve up my legacy.’

A cold light glinted in Wang Ping’s eyes at the thought.

For him, this was actually perfect. It would save him the trouble of hunting them down for revenge one by one. He could just toss them all into the same pot and swallow them whole!

’I’ll pull off one last big score before I leave and restock the Profound One Tribulation-Crossing Ring!’

A small part of Wang Ping’s confidence stemmed from his transition to a Corpse Dissolution Immortal, which had massively boosted his combat power. It was perfectly normal that he couldn’t defeat an Ascetic Monk serving under a Bodhisattva like Shasheng.

Not to mention, Shasheng had caught him completely off guard. Forced into a hasty battle with no prior experience, Wang Ping had naturally fallen at a disadvantage, yet he had still managed to land a successful counterattack in the end. If he were facing an ordinary Qi Refining practitioner, he was confident he could fight them to a standstill, or at the very worst, use Free and Unfettered Wandering to stall them.

But more importantly, the First Seat would be with him!

’She’s the only Martial Saint in the world today. With the First Seat’s current strength, even Shasheng would wince if he took a punch from her. Against a more average Qi Refining practitioner, it’s not impossible to score a kill!’

Of course, that relied on the premise that the opponent couldn’t run away, and that the First Seat could close the distance.

After all, only in close combat could the First Seat’s Shattering the Void unleash its maximum destructive power. He would have to figure out a way to create that opening for her.

After seeing Mingde off, Wang Ping sat back down cross-legged.

He was preparing to set another trap.

This time, however, he wouldn’t be able to pull it off alone. He needed outside help. After mulling it over, he decided to contact his good friends.

...

The Eight Trigrams Furnace.

The former Great Shun had already changed its dynastic name to Great Gan. Under Xianfu’s Immortal Dao style of governance, everything was steadily improving, already showing the signs of a golden age.

Within the Capital of Great Gan, in a secluded courtyard, a beautiful figure that Wang Ping had planted on standby within the Eight Trigrams Furnace long ago pushed open a door and stepped out.

You Xuexin!

She hadn’t left since entering during the Eight Trigrams Furnace incident. The numerous earth-shattering changes that followed had caused everyone to overlook this true transmission disciple of the Immortal Gate. Right now, however, her breathtaking face flushed crimson as she revealed a look of sheer excitement.

”Master!”

You Xuexin called out softly. Deep within her sea of consciousness, the Void Joy Non-Dual Guardian Consort Talisman burst with radiant light as Wang Ping’s divine sense stepped out from it.

His true body hadn’t come.

After all, while the Eight Trigrams Furnace appeared to have returned to its former peace, Daoist Master Xuanxiao Yingyuan was definitely watching the place like a hawk.

Even so, Wang Ping believed that after the Immortal Decree had displayed its might, the True Person wouldn’t dare to cast his gaze directly into the Eight Trigrams Furnace like before. At most, he would monitor the fluctuations outside the furnace to prevent anyone from sneaking in and causing another unexpected disaster.

’Fortunately, I left a backup plan in advance.’

With You Xuexin here, his true body didn’t need to be anywhere near the Eight Trigrams Furnace. Spanning an infinite distance, he could enter the furnace directly through the wisdom consort talisman.

Although it was only a strand of his divine sense, it was enough.

”Come with me.”

Wang Ping sat squarely in You Xuexin’s sea of consciousness, handling her crazed clinging born of days of emptiness while directing her to quickly head toward Jingyuan Pass.

Once You Xuexin arrived, he immediately sensed the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode and pulled both of them into the mansion of the Great Rebellion.

”Phew...!”

The moment he stepped into the Heavenly Craft Mansion, Wang Ping felt an unprecedented sense of security wash over him, prompting a long sigh of relief.

Immediately after, he eagerly made his way to the hidden chamber he had opened previously.

In a flash, a wave of radiant treasure light nearly blinded his spiritual sense. Laid out before him was the immense wealth he had accumulated since he began cultivating.

Leaving aside the flashy array of spiritual materials, the most important items were the five artifacts placed in the center of the chamber: the Seven Hearts Linked Gourd, the World-Begging Alms Bowl, the Dragon Elephant, the Heavenly Martial Campaign Profound Armor, and the Ever-Suppressing Six Harmonies Cauldron. Every single one was a Spiritual Treasure. It was an exaggerated lineup that would put even a Qi Refining practitioner to shame!

Ordinary Qi Refining practitioners weren’t nearly as rich as he was!

”Heh heh heh...”

Wang Ping sneered. This was the bait he had prepared for fishing. How could those Qi Refining practitioners who already had their eyes on him resist the temptation of these Spiritual Treasures?

In the next second, he brought out the Ever-Suppressing Six Harmonies Cauldron.

”Lord Treasure Cauldron, apologies for wronging you like this.”

The cauldron vibrated slightly. Wang Ping appeased it for quite a while before taking it out of the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode. Once back outside, he activated its profound power.

”Clang—!”

The melodious chime of the cauldron instantly connected with the Great Gan State Fortune. Having inherited the identity and achievements of the Great Rebellion, the Treasure Cauldron drew upon it even faster than it had with Great Shun.

At almost the exact same moment.

”Hm?”

In the imperial court of Great Gan, Xianfu, who had been cultivating while dividing his attention to handle state affairs, snapped his eyes open, a flash of surprise appearing in his eyes.

’It’s that guy...’

After a moment of thought, Xianfu didn’t resist the profound power that descended upon him through the Great Gan State Fortune. He allowed it to take effect. Immediately after, the world spun—

Land-Walking!

Wherever the national destiny reached, there was no place it couldn’t go. In the blink of an eye, Xianfu, who had been inside the Capital of Great Gan just a second ago, was transported all the way to Jingyuan Pass at the distant border.

Following that, Wang Ping sensed the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode and sent both himself and Xianfu inside. Xianfu didn’t put up any resistance from start to finish. The figures of the two men vanished without a trace. The entire process was as smooth as flowing water, displaying an extreme level of trust and coordination rarely seen within the Immortal Gate.

Inside the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode.

”It really is you!”

The moment they entered the mansion, Xianfu broke into a genuine smile. ”I knew it. That nonsense about you switching to a Corpse Dissolution Immortal and severing your own Dao path was complete rubbish.”

Without the protection of the national destiny, a Corpse Dissolution Immortal couldn’t enter the Eight Trigrams Furnace!

On the other side, Wang Ping gave a soft chuckle of his own. ”It’s not exactly fake. I did become a Corpse Dissolution Immortal, but the True Monarch took pity on me and allowed me to revert my state.”

”Oh?”

Xianfu’s eyes flickered at the revelation. This was slightly beyond his realm of knowledge. So a severed path from becoming a Corpse Dissolution Immortal could actually be reversed?

For a brief moment, he was even a little tempted.

After all, if it could be reversed without affecting one’s Dao path, who wouldn’t want to become a Corpse Dissolution Immortal first just for the thrill of it, experiencing profound might far beyond the Tribulation Transcending Third Layer?

However, Xianfu quickly regained his composure.

’It probably requires a massive price.’

’After all, if you could just casually reverse it, the Immortal Gate wouldn’t have so many Corpse Dissolution Immortals. Even if it was a method bestowed by a True Monarch, the conditions are definitely stringent.’

Thinking of this, Xianfu got straight to the point.

”Speak. What are you planning to do?”

Sneaking in like this obviously meant he was up to no good, and contacting him specifically meant he was probably trying to set a trap for someone and needed his help.

Xianfu’s thoughts weren’t far off the mark.

The only thing he underestimated was the sheer size of Wang Ping’s ambition. He wasn’t just planning to trap ”someone.” That would no longer satisfy his appetite.

He was going to trap a whole group of them.

He had already figured out the method.

”I plan to fake a legacy inheritance.”

Wang Ping laid out his plan. ”Right now, rumors are probably flying all over the Immortal Gate that I’ve become the Water Qi Dao Child and obtained some legacy from the Great Rebellion.”

”Even though I didn’t actually receive any legacy, since everyone thinks I did, I’ll give them a chance. I’ll construct a secret realm for this legacy, lure all those who harbor ill intentions against me inside, and slaughter them all in one fell swoop! What do you say, Senior Brother? Think it’ll work?”

Wang Ping bared his teeth in a grin as he looked at Xianfu.

If his luck held out and the plan concluded flawlessly, he would harvest at least two Qi Refining-level Yin Spirits, bringing about a qualitative leap in his own strength!
