Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 889 - 354: Old Demon Ji Who Is Not Skilled in Killing

If it were ordinary cultivators, then the method that Xing Shuang mentioned would undoubtedly be the best possible solution.

There is an opportunity to enter the secret realm and seize treasures, grasping the chances for a great path.

There’s also the chance to rid oneself of Ma Gui, or rather the Bone Nightmare Sect’s pursuit, which can be described as killing two birds with one stone.

And since Xing Shuang chose to bring this matter up now, knowing that Ji Yuan had offended Ma Gui, even though there might be an element of utilizing him...

But this friendship is quite significant.

Otherwise, with Xing Shuang’s position, finding another Array Master in Lindong City to explore the secret realm together would be rather simple.

She could even publicly auction the secret realm pass, thereby not only finding a powerful Array Master but also gaining a large sum of spirit stones.

Yet she didn’t choose this option, instead, she took the chance to ask Ji Yuan...

Xing Shuang noticed Ji Yuan was contemplating and did not disturb him, simply waiting silently for his response.

Will he go?

Indeed, it’s impossible to have no thoughts at all, Ji Yuan has been cultivating for quite some time now.

He has never participated in treasure hunting in secret realms.

Though he generally doesn’t have much use for these resources, he is somewhat curious about this treasure hunting affair.

He wants to see what it’s all about.

But if he goes, there are risks involved, as Xing Shuang just mentioned that one of her ”partners” got trapped and remains stuck inside that illusion array.

This is only an array... The secret realm likely holds other dangerous scenarios.

If encountered, would he truly be able to handle it?

Ji Yuan was contemplating.

Xing Shuang then took out a new piece of parchment from her storage bag, placed it on the table, and slid it over with both hands.

”This is the information about the secret realm, Brother Changgeng can take a look first.”

”Hmm?”

Ji Yuan was a bit puzzled, knowing it’s not quite right to look at this information without agreeing.

But upon reading the first line of the parchment, he was amazed:

”In this secret realm, there’s actually mysterious sand?”

Mysterious sand is a material for upgrading the Spirit Field to level 5, besides needing yin yang soil, a Tier Four Wood Attribute Demon Pill, and the corpse of a Tier Three Shadow Locust.

The corpse of the Tier Three Demon Beast is manageable.

The others, none are simple matters.

Before forming his core, Ji Yuan spent ten years gathering immortal talent but found none of these.

Who would have thought, he found one here now.

On second thought, it’s natural.

The secret realm that Xing Shuang discovered is located within the Northwest Sand Prison, so finding mysterious sand now is normal.

It’s unknown if there’s yin yang soil inside.

”Yes.”

Xing Shuang said while gently patting her waist, releasing a stream of light that landed on the stone table between them, turning into a palm-sized jade box.

The jade box lid was opened, revealing a layer of thin sand inside.

Though it resembles yellow sand, each grain is distinct, and every grain of mysterious sand emits a faint earth-yellow glow. When divine sense probes, it appears to contain its own space within.

Yet upon closer perception, it’s simply ordinary yellow sand.

The only difference is this yellow sand is extremely heavy.

Each grain is as if it weighs ten thousand pounds.

Ji Yuan didn’t hesitate, directly using the Artifact Manipulation Technique to try manipulating them.

The result was indeed as expected.

Very heavy, very heavy, Ji Yuan’s technique could only lift two grains of mysterious sand, reaching his limit.

Xing Shuang saw and smiled, effortlessly pinching several tens of grains from the jade box.

”Eh?”

Ji Yuan could perceive that it wasn’t because Xing Shuang had great strength to pick up several grains of mysterious sand at once.

Because...

”Don’t use mana, it’s just ordinary sand.”

After Xing Shuang said this, she returned the mysterious sand, and directly pushed the jade box in front of Ji Yuan.

He then attempted to pinch some, finding it true.

”Miss Xing, how many do you have?” Ji Yuan curiously asked.

Upon hearing this, Xing Shuang finally smiled slightly.

Daoist Xing turned into Miss Xing, indicating success.

”This is what we obtained after passing the first sand array, and I have only one mace here.”

...One mace, I need at least one pound to upgrade the Spirit Field.

The gap here is a hundredfold.

Tricky.

”Mysterious sand is generally used by Nascent Soul monsters to enhance their lifebound magical treasures, or some cultivators use it to cultivate spirit plants. It’s of no use to me, if Brother Changgeng needs it, I’m willing to trade it.”

She didn’t mention giving it for free.

Such precious items, being offered for trade is already generous enough.

Since such rare immortal talent seldom circulates in the market.

That’s precisely why Ji Yuan is troubled.

”I wonder if there’s more mysterious sand deeper in the secret realm?”

Ji Yuan finally couldn’t help but inquire.

If it were materials for other building upgrades, Ji Yuan wouldn’t have cared.

It’s not urgent.

But the Spirit Field is different.

Firstly, upgrading the Spirit Field doesn’t require Nascent Soul cultivation, which provides Ji Yuan room to maneuver.

Another reason is, during core formation, Ji Yuan relied on Pill Essence Fruit from the Spirit Field.

If he intends to form a Nascent Soul in the future, he would likely need the Nascent Soul Fruit from a level 5 Spirit Field.

The Nascent Soul Fruit originates from the third spirit effect of a level 5 Spirit Field — Nascent Soul Enlightenment.

Only one Nascent Soul Fruit can be produced every 80 years!
