Chapter 395: Chapter 204: The Mystery of the Shang Court and Divinity Transformation Cultivators

”Uncle Master, how did the Shang Court perish when it was so powerful back in the day?”

”Could it have been wiped out by another force? But then no major force appeared afterward on the Cangluo Continent.”

Ji Yuan left Water Dragon Island together with Master Duocai, but Master Duocai didn’t seem in a hurry to leave. Ji Yuan took the opportunity to inquire.

Previously, Ji Yuan might not have been interested in the Shang Court.

After all, it had perished so many years ago, long erased by the river of time.

But now, it seemed like this Shang Court was a stubborn rock, impervious within the river of time on the Cangluo Continent.

”How did the Shang Court perish?”

Master Duocai, piloting the Escape Light, slowed down a little, finally sitting directly on Ji Yuan’s Sky Raider boat. ”Actually, there are many theories on this. Even after nearly ten thousand years, no concrete conclusion has been drawn.”

”If you asked someone else, even Junior Brother Xuanshui might not know. But since you’re asking me...” Master Duocai stroked his beard and laughed, ”Our Li Family does know a bit.”

Knowing, because your Li Family was part of the founding of the Water Dragon Sect, and your ancestors included Nascent Soul Great Cultivators... Ji Yuan slightly bowed, ”I humbly ask for Uncle Master’s guidance.”

”No need for such formalities.”

Master Duocai formed a seal and cast a barrier.

Then, a stream of azure light enveloped the entire flying boat. Ji Yuan quickly stopped the Sky Raider, giving Master Duocai ample time to speak.

”Do you know what realm is above Nascent Soul?”

”I know, Master told me, above Nascent Soul is Divinity Transformation.”

Ji Yuan indeed wasn’t lying about this.

”Yes, a Divinity Transformation Cultivator alone could suppress and unify our entire Cangluo Continent, but at that time, the Shang Court had two.”

”What?”

Hearing this for the first time, Ji Yuan couldn’t help but be astonished, ”Then how were they still destroyed? Could it be that someone stronger than Divinity Transformation intervened?”

”It’s unlikely that such powerful beings would be interested in our little Cangluo Continent.”

Master Duocai laughed, stroking his beard, ”You do know, outside of our Cangluo Continent, there are other continents, right?”

”I do.”

”Those two Divinity Transformation Great Cultivators, the rulers of Shang Court, after unifying our Cangluo Continent, found no worthy opponents and left Cangluo to go to other continents.”

”And then?”

Ji Yuan was thoroughly captivated by this tale.

”Then they never returned. Some say they died overseas, while others say their cultivation advanced so much that they lost interest in us, or they got trapped somewhere. In any event, they never came back.”

At this point, Master Duocai sighed with some regret before continuing:

”With the Shang Court leaderless, the remaining Nascent Soul cultivators contemplated devouring the sect’s resources to attempt the Divinity Transformation.

Some wanted to take some of the sect’s resources and live freely overseas.

Others sought to seize the position of Sect Leader and unify the world.

In short, there were all sorts of intentions, leading to internal strife. The conflict was so intense that those dozens of Nascent Soul cultivators ended up in a massive battle, shattering the Nine Nether Cave Heaven.”

”Without the Shang Court, the entire Cangluo Continent saw the rise of various heroes, the mingling of righteousness and evil, continuous wars, and chaos.”

”Our Shangdong Six Immortal Gates’ ancestors, including my own ancestor, forged through such adversity and eventually established our Water Dragon Sect.”

Ji Yuan learned these things for the first time, tales of the Shang Court’s past, information he couldn’t find even in ancient texts.

”How did the righteous and demonic paths come to be divided between the east and west?”

”That matter?”

Master Duocai chuckled, ”I know about that because my ancestor was involved.”

Pardon your frankness, can’t go three sentences without mentioning your ancestor... Ji Yuan leaned in slightly, showing an earnest listening posture.

”At the time, our Shangdong Six Immortal Gates and the Shangxi Three Demon Sects were both established, and our Six Immortal Gates were initially not entirely in Shangdong. For instance, Corpse Transporting Mountain and Joy Palace were initially in Shangxi, while White Bone Sect was initially in Shangdong.”

”The Nascent Soul forces that emerged weren’t just those that exist now; several were wiped out.”

”Such things happened!”

Ji Yuan was quite surprised.

”Indeed, later our ancestors believed that continuing to fight like this wasn’t sustainable. Fighting on until the Nascent Soul ancestors were truly enraged would result in more devastation.”

Master Duocai’s tone was somewhat sorrowful.

Yet would Nascent Soul Great Cultivators really fear devastation?

They probably only feared death for themselves.

Ji Yuan understood the implications but chose not to speak.

Master Duocai continued, ”Eventually, the Nascent Soul cultivators from various Immortal Sects gathered on the summit of Shang Mountain for a grand meeting. They reportedly met for an entire year before signing an alliance pact, dividing the righteous and demonic paths with Shang Mountain as the boundary, a historic event known as the ’Alliance of Shang Mountain.’”

”So it was like this...”

Ji Yuan suddenly understood.

”But actually.”

Master Duocai stroked his chin beard, ”The land in Shangxi, whether its Spirit Vein or resources, is actually more barren than in Shangdong.”

”Then why did they agree to such a division?”

Ji Yuan couldn’t help asking, as this didn’t seem like the nature of the Demon Dao.

”They had no choice. At that time, the Demon Dao forces were simply inferior. Whether in terms of overall numbers or Nascent Soul cultivators, they were not as strong as we in the Righteous Path, so they had no choice but to go west.”
