Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2044: Chapter 2044: Reluctant to Return (11)

Chuzheng rejected Qin Qiao’s invitation.

Qin Qiao was used to being rejected by Chuzheng and regretfully, she sat with Jian You.

Chi Gui also realized that Chuzheng made such a swift move to clearly avoid this girl.

Initially puzzled, Chi Gui understood a few minutes later why Chuzheng avoided her as if she were a viper.

The person in front of Qin Qiao turned around to chat: ”Hey, which class are you from?”

”Me? I’m from Class 26, Senior Two. Which class are you guys in? You all look so handsome, haven’t seen you before, are you from Huahai?” Qin Qiao started chatting and you can forget about her stopping.

In just two minutes, she was already discussing drama with people she didn’t know just minutes ago.

Chuzheng really couldn’t stand the noise and turned her head to look out the window.

Chi Gui glanced at the girl beside him out of the corner of his eye.

Earlier she asked for his WeChat, and he thought she would contact him.

He was even prepared to block her if she harassed him, but she never contacted him.

Not even once!

Chi Gui began to wonder why she added his WeChat... Could it be that she wanted it for someone else?

Chuzheng was silent, and Chi Gui didn’t make a sound either. He took out his phone, slightly turned towards Chuzheng, and browsed through his list to find that unfamiliar avatar.

After clicking on it, Chi Gui was even more uncertain if this was really her.

Her Moments only showed posts from the last three days, and her profile picture was a landscape with no status message... Too clean to find any clues.

Chi Gui again eyed Chuzheng out of the corner of his eye.

Meanwhile, she adjusted to a more comfortable position, at some point put on her headphones, and stared at her phone screen, which was privacy-proof, so he couldn’t see what she was doing.

A few seconds later, Chi Gui chuckled to himself, wondering why he even cared so much.

Chi Gui exited WeChat and started browsing the few apps he used regularly.

-

The school’s teachers had said that since they were going on a trip, they should go a little farther away. Going around their own neighborhood seemed pointless.

Therefore...

Their autumn trip location was in the neighboring city.

Dongyang Middle School students: ”...” Might as well do some practice tests.

Huahai Middle School students: ”...” This must be a joke.

It took about four hours by bus to the neighboring city. Chuzheng sped through an entire drama series and dazed out for a bit, not really sure what she comprehended.

She took off her headphones and turned her head to look at Chi Gui.

The boy seemed to have no energy, slumped in his seat, with his long legs propped against the seat in front to keep him from sliding down.

He was engrossed in his phone, swiping up with his finger from time to time.

”What are you watching?”

Chi Gui was so absorbed that he didn’t notice Chuzheng until she suddenly spoke, causing him to flinch, quickly pressing the side button to dim the screen.

”Noth... nothing much.”

Chuzheng didn’t really see what he was looking at, but with Chi Gui acting like he got caught, it made her suspicious.

Could he be watching something inappropriate?

After a few seconds of suspicion, Chuzheng said, ”I have something to ask you.”

Chi Gui: ”Hmm?” What’s going on? Did she see anything just now? In such a short time, she shouldn’t have clearly seen anything, right?

Chuzheng: ”The first time I met you guys, what were you doing?”

The first time?

On the school path that time?

Chi Gui thought for a moment: ”Nothing much.”

”Was the money stolen from the school related to you in any way?”

Chi Gui frowned and turned to look at her: ”Classmate, if I remember correctly, that money has already been found, what does it have to do with me?”

”You only need to answer if it was related or not.”

Chi Gui felt perplexed, suddenly being asked such a question and feeling a bit unhappy: ”No, it wasn’t.”

”Okay.”

Chuzheng withdrew her gaze and didn’t continue asking further.

Chi Gui sat for a few seconds, feeling increasingly uncomfortable: ”Wait, what do you mean by that? Are you suspecting that I took the money?”

”No.”

”Then why did you ask me like that just now?”

Chuzheng retorted: ”Then can you explain why you were sneakily appearing there?”

Such a huge sum was lost at the school, and there are surveillance cameras around, you think they couldn’t trace it back to you?

If I hadn’t handled it, you’d already be taken to the office for a thorough interrogation.

Chuzheng felt the red scarf on her chest seemed even brighter.

But, who was the person who stole the money?

Forget it.

It has nothing to do with me anyway.

[Hey, don’t you think you’re being irresponsible?] King’s Account couldn’t stand it.

Chuzheng had a blank expression: How else should I be responsible? It’s not like I can hand-feed him!

[I meant the issue of the stolen money, by intervening you’re condoning a crime. If it weren’t for your interference, the school might have already caught the real thief. Stealing money now could lead to worse things in the future.]

Chuzheng: What if they can’t catch the person? Wouldn’t Chi Gui be the biggest suspect? I’d still end up cleaning up the mess.

Chuzheng claimed she knew the tricks and wouldn’t be fooled.

Chuzheng: And you’re not any better, don’t lecture me on morality.

[...] King’s Account felt unjustly accused, claiming to be a virtuous system promoting civility and ethics. How did it turn into ”not any better” in her words? Was it a bird?

Frustrating.

[Main Quest: Please upgrade your classmates’ accommodation to a five-star hotel or above within six hours.]

Chuzheng: ”...” Damn it!

[Sorry, little lady, but I don’t have a grandpa.]

King’s Account spoke cheerfully and disappeared after being cheeky.

-

Chi Gui didn’t want to explain why he was there, so he turned, facing the aisle.

A moment later, he turned back, wanting to say something but ultimately didn’t, turning toward the aisle again.

Chi Gui’s fidgeting made him seem hyperactive, as he wrestled with himself for quite a while.

”Brother Chi, wanna play a game?”

Someone in front invited Chi Gui to play a game.

Chi Gui felt a little irritated and not really in the mood to play, but after thinking about it, he agreed.

”Let’s switch seats!” Chi Gui said to the person in front.

”Huh?” You Zixi was confused by the request: ”Brother Chi, wasn’t your seat fine as it is?”

The girl next to you willingly chose to sit with you!!

Going over there, how does that make sense?

”I’ll switch! I’ll switch!” Qin Qiao eagerly raised her hand.

Chuzheng hadn’t cared, but hearing Qin Qiao’s voice, she grabbed Chi Gui, who was getting up, pulling him down hard, and he stumbled back into his seat.

”He’s not switching.”

Qin Qiao: ”...”

You Zixi: ”...”

Chi Gui, the person involved: ”...”

The rest of the onlookers: ”...”

The atmosphere in the carriage became a bit awkward.

Chi Gui broke the silence: ”Classmate, whether to switch or not is up to me, right?”

Chuzheng spoke a little lower, threatening: ”If you dare switch, I’ll dare throw you off.”

Chi Gui: ”...” With just you? Do you think you’re some kind of super-strong hero?

Chi Gui could have gotten up and walked away without listening to her.

But for some reason, Chi Gui ended up deciding to heed the threat, waving his hand: ”No switching.”

Everyone: ”...”

”Sigh.” Unable to have a heart-to-heart with her Gold Master, Qin Qiao was very disappointed. She didn’t even feel like playing games and focused on eating instead.
