Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1945: Chapter 1945: Mirror World (22)

On New Year’s Day, Chuzheng received a bracelet from Cheng Mu, probably thinking that girls love these things. He awkwardly wrote ”Happy New Year.”

After the New Year, Cheng Mu was about to start the new school term and was nearing the college entrance exams, leaving little time on his hands.

Every night, Cheng Mu would write exercises until late—being a top student also requires putting in the time to maintain it.

”You can go to sleep first,” Cheng Mu glanced at the mirror.

——No worries, I’ll keep you company.

Cheng Mu’s lips moved slightly, but he ultimately said nothing, bowing his head to speed up his writing.

Having completed the final problem, Cheng Mu exhaled, tossed the pen onto the desk, and stretched.

——Done writing?

”Yeah.” Rubbing his shoulders, Cheng Mu said, ”I’m going to take a shower.”

——Go ahead.

Cheng Mu took clothes into the bathroom, and when he emerged, there was a bowl of hot soup waiting on the table.

Checking the time, he realized it was 2 AM...

——Finish drinking and sleep well, good night.

Not knowing when the words were scribbled on the mirror, Cheng Mu dried his hair while sitting down to take a sip.

Quite tasty...

After finishing the bowl of soup, Cheng Mu glanced at the black cloth placed beside the desk, ultimately not hanging it back up, he simply turned around and went to bed.

He was just too exhausted to move.

Yeah!

For the next while, as long as Cheng Mu went to bed around two, Chuzheng would bring him soup.

The Cheng Family’s maid found it odd that despite his demanding study schedule, their young master hadn’t lost weight, even though he wasn’t eating much.

The Labor Day holiday gave Cheng Mu a break, but when he came home, he was injured.

Chuzheng couldn’t help but frown.

He had promised not to get hurt!

What the hell!

——You fought again?

The Good Person Card just couldn’t behave!

”No.” Cheng Mu said unhappily from his chair, ”I tripped and fell.”

Since Chuzheng’s appearance, Cheng Mu had actually fought much less.

Mainly because he hadn’t been going out much; he spent most days with Chuzheng and had no time to fight.

——Show me how you managed to fall and get hurt like that?

”... Leaving school today when a car suddenly came at me, really fell.” He really hadn’t fought.

Chuzheng frowned.

——An accident?

”Hm.” Cheng Mu found some alcohol to disinfect, ”The brakes failed.”

——You should take leave and study at home.

Cheng Mu was puzzled, ”Why?”

It’s for safety’s sake, of course.

Previously, you missed the college entrance exams due to injuries!

What if this can’t be avoided?

So staying home is better.

If anything bad happens... that’s just fate.

——I’ll study with you.

”...”

Who needs your accompaniment!

Cheng Mu didn’t know how he negotiated with Father Cheng, and he stayed home to study the next day.

There wasn’t much time left, Cheng Mu spent most of it doing exercises or reading books.

But whenever he spoke, Chuzheng was sure to respond.

”You’re not going to work?”

——You’re more important.

The pen tip sketched a line across the paper, Cheng Mu pinched it and hung his head, a subtle smile forming on his lips.

——I can work from home just the same.

Cheng Mu collected his thoughts, looked up and saw this sentence; his heart sank, he turned his mouth down and continued writing.

-

On the day of the college entrance exam, Cheng Mu woke early, tidied his things, and talked with Chuzheng.

——Be careful on the road, have your dad drop you off.

”Who needs him to drop off.”

——Cheng Mu.

”... Got it.” Cheng Mu mumbled reluctantly, ”If you’re so concerned, why don’t you come yourself?”

——Cheng Mu, I can’t.

Cheng Mu fell silent, wondering how she heard him when he hadn’t spoken loudly.

He quickly turned his gaze away, somewhat flustered, ”I’m leaving.”

——Do well in the exam.

”Mm.”

Cheng Mu grabbed his things and left the room, asking Father Cheng to drive him to school.

Father Cheng was a bit taken aback, having pushed back a meeting to figure out how to offer to drop Cheng Mu off, not expecting Cheng Mu to ask himself.

Cheng Mu probably thought he had done well, as his mood after the first few subjects looked great when he returned.

Chuzheng waited for Cheng Mu to finish the last exam, but the person who should’ve returned early hadn’t appeared even by evening.

Had he gone out to celebrate after the exam?

Distractedly sketching designs, Chuzheng eventually crumpled the drawings nervously and tossed them in the trash.

By 11 PM, Cheng Mu still hadn’t returned.

By midnight, he hadn’t returned.

At 1 AM, still no return...

Chuzheng tossed down her pen furiously and stood arms crossed, watching the mirror.

Minute by minute passed, and by dawn, Cheng Mu hadn’t returned.

Having had enough waiting, Chuzheng grabbed her phone and dialed a number.

”Hello, can I ask if anything unusual happened after Cheng Mu finished the college entrance exam?”

Whatever they said turned Chuzheng’s face cold.

”Thank you.”

She hung up.

Cheng Mu had disappeared.

Right after the college entrance exam.

On the day of the exams, after Cheng Mu left home, something happened and he was taken to the hospital. While there hadn’t been any incidents during his stay, he went missing on discharge day.

Was this Qu An’s doing?

That bastard... should’ve taken him down for good.

Cheng Mu had been hospitalized for several days, so he should still be at the hospital now...

Chuzheng was somewhat calmer, yet she pondered how to change this situation? Cheng Mu was missing, and she couldn’t contact him at all.

Damn!

The more Chuzheng thought, the angrier she got, kicking the table in frustration.

She considered several strategies, but ultimately discarded each.

How am I supposed to rescue my Good Person Card?

The bastard’s just pretending to be dead?

Chuzheng reached for her phone, not noticing the knife nearby, and sliced her fingertip, blood dripping onto the desk.

She stared at the bleeding finger for some time without moving.

Mother Yuk came in to deliver fruit, startling herself enough to drop the fruit tray, rushing over to pinch Chuzheng’s bleeding finger, ”What are you doing!! Can’t we talk about anything peacefully? What’s the point of hurting yourself!!”

Finally, it happened!

They guarded against it diligently!

Recovering, Chuzheng glanced at Mother Yuk, ”Mom... I just accidentally cut myself, it won’t kill me.”

Mother Yuk: ”...”

On the finger, the wound was scarcely a centimeter long, who intends to harm themselves with such a cut?

Mother Yuk found supplies to bandage Chuzheng’s finger then removed all sharp objects from the room.

Chuzheng: ”...”

I wasn’t trying to die.

Deep in thought, Chuzheng touched the band-aid on her finger; the current issue was Chuzheng couldn’t contact anyone but Cheng Mu... No! There’s another person!

Chuzheng collected her things and headed outside.

”Xiao Chu, where are you going?” Having just gone through this, Mother Yuk diligently watched Chuzheng’s moves.

”Going for a walk.”

”I’ll go with you...”

”Mom, I’m fine, it was just an accident earlier.” Chuzheng reassured her, ”I’ll be back soon.”

”You promise.”

”I promise!”

Chuzheng walked out of the house, glancing next door; Yu Jiansheng and Yu Shi had moved long ago.

But the house remains.

Although planned for demolition, there’d been lots of issues, the process sluggish, and it hadn’t been torn down yet.

Where had Yu Jiansheng and Yu Shi moved to?
