Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1796: Chapter 1796: Storms Fill the Mansion (33)

Two days later, Yan Ya regained consciousness. When Chuzheng visited, Yan Ya was drinking medicine.

”Landlord Fong.”

Seeing Chuzheng again, Yan Ya felt nothing but gratitude aside from surprise.

She had reportedly found someone to rescue him...

”Did you avenge yourself?” Chuzheng was straightforward.

Yan Ya shook his head with a bitter smile, ”No... their martial arts were too strange.”

”They’re already dead.”

Yan Ya looked shocked. Dead?

Chuzheng offered no further explanation, ”How long have you been with The Blind Painter?”

”More than two years.”

”I want to know everything about him.”

”Huh?”

-

”I don’t know much...” Yan Ya said, ”Actually, in the mansion, the eldest young master treated Man Yue very well, but...”

Yan Ya had stumbled upon several strange things several times.

For example, Man Yi would occasionally call Man Yue to his place, and when he came out, Man Yue would either be injured or carried back to his courtyard.

When caught by others, Man Yi would say it was an accidental injury during martial arts practice, or he would simply say he was exhausted from training and had fallen asleep.

Man Yi appeared gentle and kind in the mansion, even somewhat innocent, so no one would suspect his words.

Indeed, Man Yi treated Man Yue well in everyday life, always considering him in terms of food and drink.

Yan Ya once caught Man Yue hiding in a corner, applying medicine to himself, and that’s when he realized.

But since it was a matter of the household master, Yan Ya refrained from inquiring and pretended not to see it.

It was from that point on that Yan Ya started to observe in secret.

Man Yi and Man Yue’s relationship was strange. In front of others, Man Yi always appeared warm and friendly to Man Yue, doing things a good brother should do.

But behind the scenes...

Behind the scenes, he remained the same, yet Yan Ya always felt that the things he said and the smile he gave to Man Yue were tinged with an eerie feeling.

Later, Yan Ya was sent out for other tasks, and several years passed.

Upon his return, he found the little boy had grown into a teenager, strikingly beautiful to the point of defying gender.

It was around then that Yan Ya was assigned as a guard in Man Yue’s courtyard.

After all, being a young master of Man Mansion, he was naturally well-protected by guards and such.

As Yan Ya got closer, he noticed that the young master... had changed a lot in temperament, often flying into inexplicable rages and smashing things.

However, every time Man Yi came around, the sharp and prickly teenager seemed to lose all sharpness and stood in the corner with eyes cast down.

Once, Man Yi caught the teenager smashing things. Instead of getting angry, he gently approached, asking why he was angry.

The teenager couldn’t explain, and Man Yi took him away.

Not until the following evening did the teenager return, drenched and with visible bloodstains seeping through their clothing.

After that incident, Yan Ya never saw him smash things again. The teenager became even more reticent, sometimes seeming to just stand there silently, watching who knows how long.

In any case, it was a bit unsettling.

”That’s all I know...” Yan Ya said.

Chuzheng had thought Yan Ya was a trusted aide to The Blind Painter, not just a mere guard.

”Why did you risk your life to save him?”

Yan Ya shrugged, ”I suppose his eyes reminded me a lot of my own back in the day—that kind of despair, yet unwillingness to just die...”

This reason...

Although a bit odd, some people do think that way.

”Did he kill Man Yi?”

Yan Ya’s expression darkened slightly, and he said nothing.

Chuzheng added, ”He told me himself.”

Yan Ya frowned, finally nodding, ”At the time, the eldest young master was injured and encountered me and the young master Man Yue. The eldest young master ordered Man Yue to block those behind us so that he could buy time to escape, and then...”

At the time, the entire mansion was filled with cries and shouts. Amidst the sounds of despair, Yan Ya saw the blood-covered person blocking the youth, who slowly smiled.

”Man Yue wouldn’t dare disobey his brother’s request.”

That’s what he said.

Then, without warning, the youth stabbed Man Yi.

Man Yi hadn’t expected the youth to turn on him, and shock lingered in his eyes.

As Man Yi fell, the youth said in a calm voice, ”But if brother dies, Man Yue won’t have to obey him.”

-

Based on these fragmented clues, it can be deduced that Man Yue’s current state is ninety percent likely due to his brother, Man Yi.

However, what exactly Man Yi did to him, unless he speaks, no one may ever know.

Chuzheng sighed internally and addressed Yan Ya, ”Man Yue does not wish for you to remember this, so if you want to live, pretend you’ve lost your memory.”

Yan Ya: ”??”

”I will bring him over tomorrow.”

Yan Ya: ”???”

Chuzheng left after throwing that out, and Yan Ya sat there in silence for half a day.

What did she mean by that? If he doesn’t pretend to have amnesia, will she get rid of him?

The next day.

Chuzheng brought Man Yue over, and Yan Ya indeed smartly pretended not to recognize Man Yue.

Man Yue said nothing, simply left after observing.

Chuzheng felt that Man Yue didn’t believe Yan Ya’s amnesia because sometimes she saw Man Yue standing outside Yan Ya’s room.

However, whenever he saw her, Man Yue would obediently walk over.

After Yan Ya recovered from his injuries, Chuzheng directly sent him away, thus ending Man Yue’s daily visits to Yan Ya’s room.

-

”Tower Master, a letter from Shenwu Manor.”

Xin Yu handed the letter to Chuzheng.

Chuzheng opened it, finding it the same as before, inviting her over for a meeting.

Chuzheng didn’t think she had anything significant to catch up on with Liu Quchen, so naturally didn’t go.

But Liu Quchen was persistent; when Chuzheng didn’t go, he came to Fengman Building himself.

Chuzheng thought he had something urgent, but he just brought some ’local specialties,’ chatted about this and that, asked how she was doing in Linjiang City, and so on.

Is he crazy?

”Master Liu, if you have something to say, just say it. No need to go in circles like this. It’s scary!”

Liu Quchen smiled, ”Miss Fong, I just want to make friends with you.”

”Sorry, not interested,” Chuzheng refused expressionlessly.

Liu Quchen: ”...”

So many people long to associate with Shenwu Manor.

And here she is...

Indeed, more interesting than others.

”I mean no harm; I feel establishing good relations with Miss Fong can only be beneficial,” Liu Quchen ceased beating around the bush.

Chuzheng glanced at him, saying nothing in return.

After asserting that he genuinely intended only friendliness and had no ulterior motives, Liu Quchen finally asked a question that Chuzheng thought was the main point.

”Miss Fong, do you know where your father is?”

”You should ask Jinhua Saint about that.” After handing Feng Hanyuan over to Jinhua Saint, she hadn’t kept track of him; who knows what Jinhua Saint did with him.

”I see...”

Liu Quchen didn’t press further, eventually rising to bid farewell.
