Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1490: Chapter 1490: Death List (Part 3)

Yeah!

She should be dead!

Lv Yuan realized belatedly, a chill surged up from the soles of his feet, rushing straight to his head.

The blood in Lv Yuan’s body seemed to freeze, his brain buzzing noisily.

”Ah!”

Lv Yuan screamed, running past Chuzheng, swallowed by the dark corridor.

Tsk.

Coward.

-

A minute later.

Lv Yuan ran back, his face pale, as if something terrifying was chasing him.

There was indeed something chasing him.

Dolls.

Three dolls to be exact.

Lv Yuan ran past Chuzheng directly, racing towards the other end of the corridor.

Chuzheng stood still, waiting for the three dolls to approach.

Lv Yuan glanced back to see the girl taking two steps forward.

Lv Yuan dared not stop, nor care what the person behind was doing, burying his head and running forward.

Thud—

The sound of a heavy object hitting the ground came from behind.

In the eerie corridor, only that dull noise echoed.

The wooden boards under Lv Yuan’s feet trembled slightly.

Thud—

Thud—

Three times.

No more, no less.

Lv Yuan suddenly stopped, looking behind.

He had run too far, only vaguely seeing the shadow there.

Only one person stood.

Lv Yuan: ”...”

Is it a doll or that girl?

The figure standing there didn’t move, Lv Yuan swallowed, supporting himself as he walked back along the corridor.

As he got closer, he saw the dolls lying on the ground, and Lv Yuan breathed a sigh of relief.

Though this girl was also strange, at least she looked human.

Chuzheng was looking down at the dolls on the ground.

The doll in front of her had a broken arm, its clothes stained with blood, looking as though it had been criticized once.

”Um...”

Lv Yuan stammered.

”Are you human or... a ghost?”

Chuzheng kicked the doll, saying expressionlessly: ”Does this level have a ghost setting?”

”...”

Apparently not.

The setting elements of each level generally become clear shortly after the beginning.

It’s impossible for something else to suddenly appear in the middle.

This might be considered a reassuring point.

However...

These are just what they’ve encountered before, nobody knows what might come later.

Lv Yuan looked at the motionless dolls on the ground, leaning closer against the wall: ”Why aren’t you hurt?”

”You wish I was hurt?”

”...”

That’s not what he meant.

Chuzheng suddenly looked up at Lv Yuan: ”You’re not the Grim Reaper, are you?”

Lv Yuan waved his hands frantically: ”I’m not, I’m not.”

Chuzheng didn’t say whether she believed him or not.

Lv Yuan wasn’t a newcomer, so he didn’t insist on making Chuzheng believe him.

Lv Yuan stammered: ”I just... seeing you... I thought you were dead.”

Chuzheng glanced at him, then turned to look at the mural on the wall.

Lv Yuan had no choice but to shut his mouth awkwardly and look as well.

He didn’t dare walk forward.

Who knows how many dolls might be following him ahead?

”This mural seems to be of people praying for whatever they want and it works...” Lv Yuan tried to find a topic, the place was too quiet, it made him a bit scared.

Chuzheng walked along the corridor.

But there were no more murals ahead.

Chuzheng walked back.

The imagery of the temple appearing here can’t be without reason.

There’s definitely a cause.

”Don’t you think they seem to be praying to the same monk?” Lv Yuan spoke weakly.

”Hmm.” Chuzheng had noticed this earlier.

This monk had a high frequency of appearance.

Praying to him seemed to yield everything.

It was practically like Ji Gong Living Buddha incarnate.

”Should we try to find this...”

Lv Yuan pointed to the frequently appearing monk in the mural.

Chuzheng hadn’t found any other clues yet, so she looked down at the dolls on the ground, heading towards the direction the dolls came from.

Lv Yuan didn’t care if Chuzheng was willing to accompany him, hurriedly followed.

As they walked, the corridor grew darker.

Stepping on the wooden floor, there was a tooth-grinding creaking sound.

The sound leisurely echoed through the corridor.

Chuzheng stopped.

”W-What is it?”

Lv Yuan’s stammering voice rang out.

Snap—

A beam of light shot forward in front of Chuzheng.

Lv Yuan saw the flashlight in Chuzheng’s hand, his expression a bit odd.

But soon Lv Yuan’s attention was drawn: ”Look at that... it seems like blood.”

Someone had clawed out a Blood Seal on the ground.

It looked like someone was forcibly dragged away.

Beside it were some splattered bloodstains.

The blood was fresh, likely left by the players who departed earlier.

The stains spread in a meandering trail but abruptly stopped, just vanished.

Chuzheng thought of the place she emerged from, tapping the floor with her foot.

Lv Yuan might have thought of it too, they initially ran from a room onto this corridor.

Soon Chuzheng found a passage leading below.

But beneath this passage was a staircase.

Chuzheng shone her light forward, it was too dark to see the end.

There was something beneath the stairs, so Chuzheng chose to descend.

-

In the dimly lit corridor, someone shuffled around.

They quickly traversed a long corridor, pushing open a door and entering.

The door closed, none of them dared to make a sound, holding their breath to listen to the sounds outside.

Hastily, footsteps pattered past, then receded into the distance.

When silence returned outside, the people in the room finally breathed a sigh of relief.

These people were the players of this level.

Besides Chuzheng and Lv Yuan, all who were still alive were here.

At this moment, six people remained.

Three men, three women.

Girl One hugged her arm, clinging to the wall, nervously looking around: ”Will we die here?”

Girl Two mumbled, tears streaming down: ”I don’t want to die here...”

The room was silent for a few seconds.

Boy One broke the silence: ”Which of you is the Grim Reaper?”

Girl Two clutched Boy One tightly, seeing him look at her, she immediately waved her hand: ”I’m not... I’ve been with you all along, never left, it’s definitely not me.”

Girl One followed, denying: ”It’s not me either.”

Boy Two and Boy Three also shook their heads, denying.

”What about you?” someone asked Girl Three.

Girl Three was Yun Qiushui.

”It’s not me.” Yun Qiushui’s voice was slightly hoarse, she hadn’t had water for a long time, looking weakly at the group, pointing to her injured arm: ”I’m injured, when would I have time to do anything else?”

Thinking it over, it seemed reasonable.

”Then who is it!!”

”Someone among us must be the Grim Reaper, who led the way just now?”

”Him.”

Boy Two was identified.

Boy Two nervously explained: ”I... was following your suggestion to go that way.”

”Why did you run so fast?”

Boy Two: ”There was noise behind, I was scared, didn’t you run too?”

The group investigated back and forth, realizing everyone seemed suspicious.

Catching the Grim Reaper wouldn’t guarantee them a victory.

It might give them a chance to draw a card and ensure no Reaper sabotage.

Yun Qiushui quietly said: ”Isn’t there someone else left?”

The group suddenly fell silent.

Right...

There’s someone else.

Since leaving that room, Lv Yuan had disappeared.
