Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1166: Chapter 1166: Love at First Sight in Medicine (Part 23)

Doctor Hou had just sent off a patient and was about to take a sip of water to rest when Yuk Jian came in. He raised an eyebrow, ”Where did you rush off to just now?”

”Handling some things.” Yuk Jian asked him, ”Do you have a patient named Deng Qi?”

”Hey, how do you know? Speaking of this, I was just about to talk to you about this patient’s situation...”

Deng Qi had been hospitalized for a while. After Yuk Jian flipped through her medical records and looked in on her from outside the ward, she appeared to be just a frail and gentle girl. She communicated normally, her thinking was clear, and there seemed to be no problems.

Yuk Jian observed for a few more days and still didn’t find any issues with Deng Qi.

However, he remembered Chuzheng’s words and never appeared in front of Deng Qi, always just watching from the outside.

”Yuk Jian!”

Duan Ruihuan looked upset, her high heels clicked loudly on the floor.

Inside the ward, where Deng Qi had been talking to someone, the gentle smile on her face suddenly faded.

She stared at the woman approaching Yuk Jian, the softness in her eyes gradually darkening, revealing a hint of madness and distortion.

But when a fellow patient called her, Deng Qi smiled gently again.

”Is that Doctor Yuk? Oh, it’s a shame he always wears a mask, I can never see his face. I heard from the nurses that Doctor Yuk is very handsome, and he has a girlfriend... Is that his girlfriend?”

Deng Qi said nothing, just looked outside.

Only after the two left did Deng Qi retract her gaze and softly say, ”My boyfriend is handsome too.”

”Huh? Really?” A fellow patient remarked enviously, ”Then why doesn’t he come to see you?”

”He’s busy with work.”

”Even if he’s busy, he shouldn’t neglect his girlfriend.”

”I understand him, I don’t want to burden him.”

”You’re so kind.”

Deng Qi often mentioned having a boyfriend, handsome, with a good personality, and gentle towards her, but no one had ever seen her boyfriend.

-

Half a month passed in a blur.

Yuk Jian came out after finishing a surgery, rubbing his temples, and called Chuzheng, ”Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

Whatever was said on the other end seemed to bring a slight smile to Yuk Jian’s eyebrows and eyes. He pulled down his mask, his handsome face showing a hint of fatigue.

”Tomorrow’s no good... I have surgeries scheduled. I’ll check the time and let you know, you sleep early...”

Yuk Jian suddenly stopped in his tracks and looked back.

The corridor was empty.

The hospital was mostly empty at this time, the air conditioning set to full, exuding a chill.

”What’s wrong?”

”Nothing.”

Yuk Jian urged Chuzheng to sleep quickly and then hung up the phone. He stood there for a few seconds before going back to his office to change and head home.

For several days, Yuk Jian had the feeling that someone was following him, but whenever he looked back, there was nothing.

He thought it might be a hallucination from being too tired, but as things in his office occasionally went missing, Yuk Jian increasingly felt something was off.

His personal belongings were either locked up or taken home, never left in the office. What went missing were the standard hospital supplies given to every office; who would steal such things?

-

Chuzheng initially thought that even if Deng Qi showed up, there would still be some time before that incident happened, allowing her to solve the issue with Mother Yuk first.

Unexpectedly, the incident occurred ahead of schedule.

In fact, the plan couldn’t keep pace with changes.

Chuzheng received the news and rushed to the hospital, only to find that Deng Qi had taken Yuk Jian hostage instead of Duan Ruihuan.

To be precise, she had not only tied up Duan Ruihuan but had also taken Yuk Jian hostage.

Chuzheng couldn’t help but marvel: Amazing!

Initially, she captured Duan Ruihuan, took her to the rooftop, and sent a text to Yuk Jian using Duan Ruihuan’s phone.

However, since Duan Ruihuan had been blocked by Yuk Jian, she told Deng Qi, who didn’t believe her.

The result was the two of them spent most of the day on the rooftop with no one showing up.

Deng Qi had to use her own phone to send out a message, including a picture of Duan Ruihuan, instructing Yuk Jian to come to the rooftop alone—

If someone were thinking rationally, they’d find it strange: if Duan Ruihuan was involved with Yuk Jian, why would he block her?

But Deng Qi wasn’t rational, she hadn’t even considered that.

”Miss, you can’t go up there!!”

”Move aside.”

Chuzheng ignored the obstruction and headed straight to the rooftop.

There were already people maintaining the scene on the rooftop, including several doctors from the hospital.

Duan Ruihuan was tied to the edge of the rooftop, her wrist had a cut, and her face was pale, either from blood loss or fright.

Yuk Jian sat on the ground, back against the rooftop, seemingly injured as well.

A woman in a hospital gown held a scalpel to Yuk Jian’s neck, yelling at the people surrounding the rooftop, ”Don’t come any closer!!”

Yuk Jian had already seen Chuzheng, his expression changed immediately. Deng Qi noticed the subtle change in Yuk Jian’s expression and looked towards the crowd.

”Don’t do anything rash!”

”Calm down, let’s talk it over, don’t hurt them.”

”It’s dangerous out here, Qi Qi, why don’t you come over first?”

”Doctor Yuk...”

Deng Qi scanned the crowd and found nothing unusual, then looked back at Yuk Jian, who was sitting quietly with a calm demeanor.

Deng Qi’s eyes suddenly revealed a sick obsession: ”Doctor Yuk, you know what? From the moment I first saw you, I knew you were mine.”

Yuk Jian’s fingers curled into a fist: ”What do you want?”

His eyes darted around anxiously.

Where did Chuzheng go?

He clearly saw her come up just now...

Deng Qi giggled twice, coquettishly to Yuk Jian like a young girl: ”Make them be quiet, they’re so noisy.”

Deng Qi’s voice wasn’t low, and the people there had already heard it, causing everyone to quiet down instantly.

”I told you to come up alone, why did you bring people?” Deng Qi started questioning.

”I wasn’t aware someone was following me.” Yuk Jian replied calmly.

”I see.”

It seemed Deng Qi believed him, her expression softened, her gaze towards Yuk Jian as gentle as a lover’s.

But in the next moment, her face changed without warning, her twisted expression ruining all its gentleness. Pointing at Duan Ruihuan, she accused Yuk Jian in a sharp voice, ”Why are you with her? What’s so good about her? What do you like about her?”

Duan Ruihuan: ”???” When did she become Yuk Jian’s girlfriend! She wished she could be, but she wasn’t! This madwoman got it wrong!

Duan Ruihuan often went to the hospital regardless of the occasion, pestering Yuk Jian, which Deng Qi had witnessed several times.

Moreover, the nurses in the hospital gossiped that Yuk Jian had a girlfriend.

But Chuzheng seldom went into the hospital, and when she did, she only waited in the office for Yuk Jian. So Deng Qi assumed Duan Ruihuan was the ’girlfriend’ the nurses talked about.

Duan Ruihuan felt extremely wronged; if she really were Yuk Jian’s girlfriend, that would be one thing, but she wasn’t!!

Why was she tied up here!

Duan Ruihuan immediately shouted, ”I’m not his girlfriend! He...”

Deng Qi tilted her head, and before Duan Ruihuan could say another word, she hummed lightly: ”Doctor Yuk, you see, she’s scared, she doesn’t truly like you.”
