Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 636 -636: The Priestess’s Charms (12)

Footsteps approached from a distance, and Yi Cun yelped, scurrying to hide behind Lingji.

Chuzheng stood in front of Lingji. “Are you alright?”

Turned to the dark side and still so weak…

Weakling.

Sigh.

Lingji tracked Chuzheng’s position and slowly lifted his eyes, only parting his lips slightly after a long moment. “Thank you, miss.”

“As long as you think I’m a good person, that’s enough.” Chuzheng handed him a fruit.

Lingji lowered his eyelashes and spoke softly, “If the lady continues to do good deeds, she will surely be blessed.”

“Good deeds?” Chuzheng said ambiguously, “You mean…?”

Lingji’s heartbeat inexplicably skipped a beat.

“Take it.” Holding out the fruit for so long, have you no manners!

A flicker of surprise crossed the depths of Lingji’s eyes. He then lifted his hand, his fingertips brushing Chuzheng’s hand as he reached, as if by mistake.

But he quickly turned it around and caught the fruit.

Lingji withdrew his hand, the smooth and delicate touch from the brief encounter reminiscent of fine creamy white jade.

Yet softer than jade.

Chuzheng eyed him curiously and suddenly waved her hand in front of his eyes.

Lingji’s eyes did not move at all.

Chuzheng waved her hand again.

Still no movement, as if…

Before Lingji said anything, Chuzheng had already concluded, “You can’t see?”

Without any change in expression, Lingji simply said, “Miss, clarity of heart brings clarity of vision.”

He really can’t see?

His eyes were too bright, beautiful enough that one could overlook the lack of the usual spark found in a normal person’s gaze.

And indeed, he seemed no different from any other person.

It was almost impossible for anyone to associate him with being blind.

Chuzheng squinted at him. “Is that so? Then tell me, what do I look like?”

Lingji: “…”

Lingji couldn’t describe her.

He could only see through the elements in the world around him. The fruit Chuzheng had given him was an ordinary fruit, so he couldn’t see it.

However, he could recognize the Dark Element on Chuzheng at a glance.

“It seems your heart isn’t clear enough.” Chuzheng’s icy words landed on his ears.

The fruit lay quietly in Lingji’s palm as he spoke slowly. “Yes, perhaps. But I know that the lady is a Dark Series Magician.”

Chuzheng casually admitted, “So what? Are you trying to threaten me now?”

“Does the incident in Maoling City have anything to do with the lady?”

Chuzheng’s face turned serious. “If I say no, would you believe me?”

“The Dark Element on the lady’s body is the same as the Dark Element left behind in Maoling City.” Lingji’s voice was soothing, soft, and comfortable, dissuading anyone from speaking loudly to him.

Chuzheng fell silent for a moment.

The aura of each person is unique, and any magician could easily distinguish this.

But these auras dissipate over time.

Chuzheng wondered when this weakling had arrived that he could still recognize her aura.

[…]Miss, don’t you have any sense of awareness inside? You’re a Dark Series Magician for god’s sake!!

“That can only prove that I’ve been to Maoling City, not that I did anything there.” Without evidence, you can’t make wild accusations, and even if you’re a Good Person Card, you can’t treat me unfairly.

“What the lady says is true.” Lingji suddenly agreed, showing no intent to pursue further.

Chuzheng was a bit taken aback.

Is this really a Priest from the Temple of Light?

Or could he be an undercover agent sent by the Temple of Darkness?

“As a Priest of the Temple of Light, you don’t want to capture me?” Maybe tie me up, set fires or something? Isn’t that how it’s all done in TV dramas?

Lingji, puzzled, asked, “Why would the lady say such a thing?”

Chuzheng: “…”

Does this even need explaining?

How did Good Person Card even become a Priest?

Via backdoor connections?

I’m a Dark Series Magician, your sworn enemy.

Not going to whip the corpse?

Are you my sworn enemy or something?

“Light and dark have always been incompatible,” Chuzheng said, “Isn’t capturing me something that you people should be doing?”

“The lady hasn’t done anything wrong, so we shouldn’t prejudice her over some rumors. At the end of the day, it’s just because we wield different powers. There are bad people among the good ones, and good people among the bad ones.”

The man exuded a sense of divine sanctity, as if his words were the decrees of a deity.

“Hmm, I’m a good person.” Chuzheng had no shame and followed up, “Do you also think I’m a good person?”

“If the lady hasn’t done anything wrong, then naturally she is a good person,” Lingji’s answer was quite vague.

“Hmm, then I am.” I haven’t done anything bad to you, I’m a good person!

“Ow…” The little thief has no shame, stealing my collar!

Chuzheng gave it a cold glance: I bought that!

–

“Could you please bring over the Serene Butterfly?”

After resting for a while, Lingji asked Chuzheng politely.

“What Serene Butterfly?” Never seen it.

Lingji: “The biggest one.”

Oh!

That big moth.

Chuzheng didn’t make a sound, but got up to fetch the moth which was now only the size of a fist.

Lingji extended his hand, and Chuzheng placed the Demon Butterfly into it.

She pressed gently: “You’re not going to fall into an illusion realm again, are you?”

Lingji felt the warmth from the strange woman’s palm and his heartbeat skipped a half-beat inexplicably.

He suppressed that strange feeling quickly.

“No, it was my carelessness before that allowed it to find an opening.”

Hearing this, Chuzheng released her hand: “Then who knows if you’ll be careless again this time.”

Lingji: “…”

Chuzheng sat beside him, propping up her leg in a most unladylike manner with her elbow on her knee, not caring about her image because Lingji couldn’t see her, and watched him deal with the big moth.

“Why does the lady watch me?”

“I thought you couldn’t see?” How do you know I’m watching you?

“Perhaps being blind, my other senses are more sensitive,” Lingji explained softly: “I can feel it.”

Chuzheng shifted her gaze away.

Not watching then.

Who cares.

But after a moment, Chuzheng’s gaze returned to him.

Why can’t my Good Person Card watch?

I want to watch!

Light Series Magic enveloped the Demon Butterfly; the radiance made the man look even more divine and mysterious.

I have to find out the identity of this weakling.

Lingji’s fingertips ceased glowing, and suddenly, the struggling moth stilled.

Lingji took out a brocade pouch from his sleeve and placed the big moth inside.

Chuzheng watched his movement, swinging her leg and asked casually: “Why is it called the Serene Butterfly?”

Such a vicious big moth, to have such a name.

Where’s the serenity in that?

Scary as hell.

“The Serene Butterfly is named after the place where it’s born, which is called Serene,” Lingji continued.

Chuzheng: “…”

That random?

Lingji went on: “This is the last Serene Butterfly. It was kept in the Temple of Light, but some days ago, it accidentally escaped, and I’ve been chasing it here.”

“Are those not it?” Chuzheng looked towards the moths hanging there.

Lingji shook his head: “No, those are used by the Serene Butterfly for self-protection; they never grow into real Serene Butterflies.”

Lingji paused: “But letting them out will also cause trouble.”

If these Demon Butterflies get out, they will keep breeding, and when harmed, they will Split into new Demon Butterflies.

Soon enough, the Demon Butterflies would be everywhere.
