Chapter 630 -630: The Priest’s Charms (6)

The Magic World was not isolated from news.

Even a town was quite clear about the outside world.

“Ah?”

Fu Yu was stunned.

“How come, I clearly heard it was a month later.”

“A month later?” Ah Da thought for a moment, scratched his head, “The recruitment for the Magic Academy ended a month ago, even the branch campuses in other cities have stopped recruiting. It won’t be until next year… However, the Temple of Light will publicly recruit believers a month from now.”

Fu Yu’s face was filled with shock.

Wasn’t he eagerly heading to Penghua just to apply for the Magic Academy?

The old fogeys in his family forbid him from leaving, saying that the magic learned in the clan was sufficient.

But Fu Yu was unwilling to be confined in the clan all the time; he wanted to venture out and become a chivalrous magician!

He had finally overheard that the Magic Academy was recruiting… and he had heard wrong?!

Before Fu Yu could show his disappointment, he heard Ah Da’s next words and his expression brightened again, “The Temple of Light?”

“Yes,” Ah Da said, “The Temple of Light only publicly selects believers every five years. If you can be chosen as a believer of the Temple of Light, that would truly bring honor to your ancestors.”

“Wow!” Fu Yu swept away his earlier gloom, “Then I will participate in the selection of the Temple of Light, I must enter the Temple of Light!”

“Pfft…” The woman opposite him sneered, “Do you think the Temple of Light is somewhere you can just enter if you wish?”

“What’s it to you whether I can enter or not?” Fu Yu said, displeased.

“I’m just telling you, someone like you can’t possibly enter the Temple of Light,” the woman said arrogantly.

Someone like him?

What kind of person was he?

“I can’t get in, but can you?” The young master reddened in the face with anger.

“Of course I can,” the woman said with pride in her tone, “I am not like you country bumpkins. I’d advise you to hurry back home, lest you end up crying later.”

“You…”

Just as it seemed the argument was about to escalate, the middle-aged man hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over.

Fu Yu could not help feeling irritated toward people with pleasant demeanors.

Sitting back down, he was sullen and out of spirits.

–

The commotion soon subsided, and the area gradually quieted down as most people started to rest.

Night color enveloped the entire gorge.

The mist grew thicker.

In the dark surroundings, something seemed to be watching.

Chuzheng opened her eyes and looked into the darkness; the middle-aged man across from her also woke up, meeting her gaze.

A chill went down the spine of the middle-aged man.

The young master and the other man showed no signs of stirring; it was only this quiet and unassuming girl who had detected something amiss…

Ssha…

There was a sound in the distance.

It was like the wind brushing through the grass.

And yet it also resembled something darting through the underbrush.

“Miss, Miss…” the middle-aged man nudged the resting woman beside him, “Miss, wake up.”

One by one, others began to stir, and the middle-aged man signaled for everyone to be quiet.

Ssha…

Ssha ssha…

The sounds came closer and closer.

The air was thick with escalating tension.

“Whoosh…”

A shadow burst out from the underbrush at high speed, so fast and sudden that the nearest person barely saw what it was before they were toppled into the grass behind them; without even a scream, the grass shook briefly and then stilled.

“Did any of you see what it was?”

“It looked a bit like a Silver Wolf,” someone answered softly.

The Demonic Beast Silver Wolf was renowned for its speed and belonged to the vicious category of beasts.

Magicians were very reluctant to deal with this kind of beast because it ran too fast and had highly developed evasion skills, making it difficult for magicians to land their spells and naturally they were not keen on dealing with them.

The only consolation was that unlike other wolves, the Silver Wolf was a solitary creature.

“Whoosh…”

A flash of silver light streaked by.

This time, everyone saw it clearly.

Indeed, it was the Silver Wolf.

Whoosh…

Whoosh whoosh…

The faces of those present changed.

One Silver Wolf…

Two Silver Wolves…

Three…

Countless…

The Silver Wolves had surrounded them!

“Aren’t Silver Wolves solitary Demonic Beasts?” Fu Yu’s complexion wasn’t too good, “Why are these Silver Wolves gathering together?”

“Why don’t you ask them?” Chuzheng looked unfazed as she watched one of the Silver Wolves.

“Miss Chuzheng, these Silver Wolves are not easy to deal with!!” Fu Yu suddenly became anxious.

Chuzheng’s expression was indifferent, “Hmm.”

Silver Wolf… its fur does seem quite nice.

Chuzheng’s eyes narrowed slightly, she rubbed her sleeve, feeling a bit eager to try.

The Silver Wolf’s body tensed up slightly, its green, oily eyes staring at them, baring its fangs.

The group opposite had already banded together, back to back, alert and cautious, not daring to let down their guard.

“Aooo…”

A Silver Wolf on the left launched the first attack, the magic light flickered, and spiky earth erupted from the ground, instantly creating chaos within the human ranks.

Seizing the opportunity, the rest of the Silver Wolves attacked individually.

“Miss Chuzheng…” Three Silver Wolves rushed towards their side, Fu Yu called out to her nervously.

Chuzheng: “…”

Why, out of more than a dozen people on that side, only six wolves were allocated, yet here the three of us have to deal with three wolves?

How is that fair!

Seeing Chuzheng did not react, Fu Yu could only pull Ah Da behind him, casting magic from his hands.

Fu Yu was a Fire Series Magician; Silver Wolves are afraid of fire and did not dare to get too close to him.

The Silver Wolf growled lowly, its claws scraping the ground, a Water Series Magic dragon formed and pressed towards Fu Yu, causing the flames to diminish.

Just as Fu Yu was about to be overwhelmed, a streak of silver light flashed before him.

The next second, one Silver Wolf howled as it seemed to be flung by something.

About to crash into a tree, the Silver Wolf’s body was then yanked back and slammed down in front of Chuzheng.

Chuzheng immediately reached out to touch it… the coldness in her eyes suddenly seemed to congeal into frost.

Deceiver!

Looks good but is of no use.

It’s rough to the touch, this thing!!

Chuzheng threw the Silver Wolf out, and this time it solidly hit the tree.

Fu Yu: “…” What is Miss Chuzheng doing?

Silver Wolf: “…” Is this human sick!!

–

Rustle rustle rustle—

More Silver Wolves popped out from the jungle, whose eyes met theirs before they leaped into an attack.

“Why are there so many Silver Wolves?!”

Someone roared angrily.

Yet no one could answer that question.

The normally non-herding Silver Wolves, why are they forming a group now?

Chuzheng hadn’t made much of a move; she just avoided the attacking Silver Wolves, with Fu Yu and Ah Da following by her side, relatively safe.

“Miss Chuzheng, there are more and more coming…” Fu Yu moved closer to Chuzheng, “We need to break out of the encirclement.”

No sooner had the words left Fu Yu’s mouth than his eyes suddenly shifted.

A woman was leading people towards them, and as they got closer, she suddenly threw a handful of powder into the air.

The powder fluttered down, obstructing everyone’s vision.

Chuzheng pulled one aside, retreating backward.

The woman was not coming at them; they rushed past quickly, creating a gust of wind.

However, Chuzheng soon realized something was amiss.

The attention of these Silver Wolves… seemed to all be on them now.
