Chapter 554 -554: I Am Your Sister (9)

“Hmph, fine,” Mother Song agreed on behalf of Song Jing.

Just like Song Jing had thought, Chuzheng was bluffing.

Song Jing felt something wasn’t right and a vague unease in the back of his mind, but it was too late for regrets.

“Go ahead and check,” Chuzheng gestured to the teacher to look at the surveillance footage.

“Song Jing,” Bai Yuyao called out to Song Jing weakly.

“It’s okay, the school’s surveillance covers every corner, she definitely can’t get away,” Song Jing reassured Bai Yuyao.

Seeing that both parties agreed, the teacher went ahead and applied to view the surveillance footage.

According to the time Song Jing had mentioned, the teacher fast-forwarded to that moment.

But strangely, at that time, there was only Song Jing there by himself; there was no outsider.

Song Jing was doing something that looked like he was talking to someone.

Then Song Jing fainted, and it seemed like he was pulled up and shoved into a flower bed.

Then Bai Yuyao appeared, the same situation.

But in the video, aside from Bai Yuyao and Song Jing, there was no one else.

Everyone in the office felt inexplicably cold.

“You must have encountered a ghost,” Chuzheng broke the eerie silence, “Don’t come accusing me.”

“Teacher, is there something wrong with this surveillance?” Song Jing asked with an ugly expression; how could it be? How could her image not appear in the footage?

“No,” the teacher shook their head, “The school’s surveillance wouldn’t be faulty.”

“If you didn’t run into a ghost, then you must be colluding to slander me,” Chuzheng added, “I’ve already called off the engagement, and now you want to get me expelled too?”

“Don’t spout nonsense, Shen Chuzheng!” Song Jing rebuked sharply.

The teacher had been somewhat biased towards Mother Song before, but after watching the surveillance, she felt something was amiss and now clearly didn’t want to take sides with anyone.

“Then tell me, where was I?” Chuzheng pointed at the surveillance, “Did I turn invisible?”

Song Jing’s brows furrowed deeply.

What was going on?

In the surveillance, both he and Bai Yuyao were present, so why was she the only one missing?

“Did you delete the surveillance footage?” Mother Song suddenly suggested, “You must have deleted the footage!”

“Thank you for thinking so highly of me that I could do such a thing,” Chuzheng retorted.

It might have been plausible if the footage had been tampered with or deleted.

“Mother Song, there couldn’t possibly be a problem with our surveillance,” the teacher asserted the school’s position.

These surveillance recordings weren’t available for just anyone to view.

“Then what’s happening?” Mother Song clamored, “Jingjing, what on earth happened?”

Song Jing was also completely bewildered at this point.

He had no idea what had happened.

Bai Yuyao clung to Song Jing, seemingly unsure what to do.

“It’s nothing, I’m going back to class,” Chuzheng prepared to leave, giving Song Jing and Bai Yuyao a glance and reminding them, “Remember to apologize to me at Monday’s meeting.”

With surveillance as evidence, the teacher had no choice but to let Chuzheng leave.

Otherwise, it would indeed seem like they were trying to frame her.

Song Jing watched Chuzheng walk away, still puzzled about what was happening.

Mother Song’s face turned pale, and as she stepped out of the office, she asked, “Jingjing, did she really do it or not?”

“Yes.”

“Then what’s with the surveillance?” She had thought it was a foolproof plan, agreeing to Chuzheng’s demand.

Now, instead of getting her expelled, she had trapped her own son.

“I don’t know.”

“You didn’t really encounter something dirty, did you?” Mother Song suddenly became anxious; rumors within their circle, they were sometimes exposed to some.

Song Jing wanted to counter, but he couldn’t explain the surveillance situation.

“Jing, don’t you think Shen Chuzheng is like a different person?” Bai Yuyao brought up her doubts as if casually.

“Yeah, that wild girl is really off,” Mother Song also said, “Really sinister.”

“Could she possibly…” Bai Yuyao trailed off.

“No, I have to get someone to check this out; we can’t fall into her evil trap!” Mother Song was awakened to the possibility.

Mother Song urged Song Jing twice, then hastily left the school.

Bai Yuyao held Song Jing’s hand, “Jing, at the Monday meeting, I…”

“It’s okay, I promised, I’ll be there.”

“But about the broken engagement…”

Song Jing frowned, as this situation could no longer be reversed; he could only comfort Bai Yuyao.

Although Bai Yuyao was worried about her own reputation, she didn’t dare say anything more, fearing that she would anger Song Jing.

–

Monday meeting.

In front of the entire school, Song Jing apologized to Chuzheng and made it clear that it was indeed Chuzheng who had called off their engagement. He wanted to put the matter to rest and preferred not to talk about it again.

With the “male god” himself speaking out, naturally, no one at the school dared to question it openly anymore.

But there were still many who cursed Chuzheng.

Even though Song Jing had apologized to her in front of the whole school, it seemed as if she was the one who had done wrong, especially since Song Jing and Bai Yuyao truly liked each other.

There was nothing wrong with them being together; marriage agreements were an old-fashioned idea, and Chuzheng wanting to take advantage of the engagement was just proof that she was a malicious woman trying to split up Song Jing and Bai Yuyao.

There were those who previously said that Bai Yuyao was unkind, but after this whitewashing, Bai Yuyao remained the pure and unblemished goddess.

Song Jing was seen as a responsible and dependable “male god.”

Chuzheng was branded as a soon-to-be bankrupt, malicious, and uneducated wild girl.

Chuzheng: “???”

Chuzheng didn’t believe there wasn’t someone stoking the flames behind the scenes.

“I really didn’t believe it before, but to think it’s actually true…”

“My male god is so kind, to safeguard her dignity, he actually said he was the one dumped! It’s infuriating to think about!”

“The Shen Family is about to collapse, her deciding to break off the engagement was a wise choice.”

Chuzheng leaned against the side of the academic building, looking at those girls who had walked past.

“Student Shen.” Fatty ran over, panting, “Student Shen, did you call for me?”

Fatty squinted his little eyes, curiously scrutinizing her.

This was the person in the midst of the school’s biggest recent drama.

Chuzheng lowered her hand, her tone cold and distant, “I heard you’re quite popular at school?”

Fatty chuckled and modestly said, “It’s alright.”

“I have a job for you.”

“What job?” Fatty asked, puzzled.

“Here’s one million as a deposit; if you do it well, you’ll get another million.”

Fatty was shocked.

“Student Shen… what are you trying to do?” Wasn’t it rumored that the Shen Family was going bankrupt? How could she still be so generous?

“Just a small matter,” Chuzheng glared at him, “but if you agree to do it, keep your mouth shut.”

Fatty hesitated.

Two million! Could it really be just a small matter?

But he really was quite short on money…

“Okay, tell me. As long as it’s nothing immoral or illegal!”

Chuzheng motioned for him to come closer.

“Just this?”

“Mhm.”

“No problem, you’ll see the results this afternoon,” Fatty assured with a pat on his chest.

Chuzheng handed over the deposit.

Fatty said she could see results by the afternoon, and indeed, by then, Chuzheng began to hear a change in the direction of these people’s discussions.

“Didn’t Bai Yuyao used to be quite close with Chuzheng?”

“Could she have done it on purpose? This looks like a premeditated act to steal someone’s fiancé!”

“The Shen Family is on the brink of ruin; Song Jing just wants to break off the engagement now, but when the Shen Family was doing well, why didn’t we hear about breaking it off then?”
