Kill The Old Ones!

--

Tonight’s turning out to be a sleepless one for Ren.

Although he repeatedly told himself to not be anxious and tried various ways to distract himself, in the end, he still ended up tense, nervous, and anxious while he waited for the results.

That 2 hours and 34 minutes’ wait felt like a lifetime for him. He tried to keep himself occupied by playing games, anything he could get his hands on just to pass time. But even then, he still felt like the world was deliberately slowing down in his wait.

He couldn’t help but start overthinking: What if the World System wasn’t impressed? What if it didn’t think too highly of his creation? What if it deems the technique a waste of its time and it decides to punish him?

Did he overestimate himself? Was his idea and optimism really laughable in the end? Was he really deluded by his gift and talent? Did he become the person he swore not to become? Did he do a bad thing?

Self-doubt certainly doesn’t look good on him, but Ren couldn’t help it. He did something huge, after all. The wait was torture, but there’s nothing he could do other than wait for the verdict.

In this agonized manner, time slowly crawled forward. Ren kept glancing at the digital clock, groaning each time he discovered that only some minutes passed in his attempts at distracting himself before turning his eyes away again.

He even thought to himself that the World System surely won’t make him wait for that whole 2 hours and 34 minutes. That it’d bring him the results earlier, at least.

But as time passed without any reply from the World System, Ren’s doubts grew. Eventually, he gave up and just relented.

Fine. 2 hours and 34 minutes it is, then.

Eventually, though. Time crept on, and the deadline neared.

Around the 2-hour and 30-minute mark, Ren heard that same crisp beep accompanied by that unique system message board that only the World System had.

[Thank you for patiently waiting, Anon.]

[The World System had successfully appraised your Green Lotus Core Technique. Would you like to view the appraisal results? ]

Okay, it arrived four minutes early. It’s not much, and Ren couldn’t bring himself to complain.

He felt dread and excitement at the same time. He took a deep breath and decided to reveal the results, facing it head-on for better or for worse.

”Show me,” he declared.

[As you wish...]

[FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS]

Chakra Generation:

• Produces a unique derivative energy: ”Green Lotus Core Chakra”

• Output is stable, low-intensity, and nonvolatile

• Does not interfere with existing techniques, attributes, or energy systems

• Does not induce elemental, spiritual, or ideological bias

Chakra Behavior:

• Upon generation, energy disperses uniformly across the user’s entire physical structure.

• Forms a persistent, low-density layer over all biological components

• Retention Duration: Up to 24 hours without additional input

• Decay Rate: Gradual, non-destructive

Regenerative Effect:

• Continuous, passive restoration of damaged biological structures

• Restoration operates via incremental correction rather than accelerated reconstruction.

• Effect persists until: a) Energy depletion b) Full restoration to baseline state

• Effective Against: • Physical trauma (minor to severe) • Internal degradation • Accumulated micro-damage

• Ineffective Against: • Instantaneous fatal damage • External conceptual interference (curses, laws, authority-based damage) • Energy-based annihilation exceeding total reserve

System Compatibility:

• Compatible with 99.997% of all known martial systems

• No rejection response observed in conflicting attribute environments

• Can coexist alongside high-intensity or destructive techniques without destabilization

—

[LIMITATION ANALYSIS]

• Does not increase combat output (strength, speed, destructive capacity)

• Does not amplify chakra reserves directly

• Regeneration speed is low; the effect requires time to manifest

• Cannot replace specialized healing techniques in high-grade or emergency scenarios

• Cannot be practiced by non-human practitioners

• User must retain minimum vitality; technique does not revive the dead.

—

[OPTIMIZATION VALUE]

• Reduces long-term bodily degradation by 72–91%

• Increases training sustainability across all practitioner tiers

• Lowers risk of permanent injury accumulation

• Enhances recovery consistency for low-talent and high-talent individuals equally

• Provides foundational stability for future advancement of Chakra Network development

—

[CIVILIZATION IMPACT PROJECTION]

Short-Term Impact:

• Immediate increase in survivability of active practitioners

• Reduction in training-related fatalities and disabilities

Mid-Term Impact:

• Elevated average physical condition of martial population

• Increase in successful advancement rates among low and mid-tier talents

Long-Term Impact:

• Structural improvement of human material foundation

• Expanded lifespan of active combatants

• Increased probability of high-tier breakthroughs due to reduced cumulative damage

• Conclusion: This technique provides systemic reinforcement to the entirety of human martial development.

[WORLD SYSTEM — APPRAISAL COMPLETE]

”Holy crap!!!”

Ren let out an undignified gasp and a scream after reading through the precise and very comprehensive appraisal of the World System for the martial art he submitted.

So, okay, he knew that he did something huge. He knew its potential and what it could do for the future of the human race.

But seeing it listed in such a way just drove it home for him.

Yes, the impact of what he did was truly immense. It’s clear in that civilization impact projection portion of the report.

Ren just changed the damn world, and for the better too! At merely 16 years of age, just by relying on the powerful and absurd gift that came with his recollection of his previous life’s memories, he had made such an insane impact already.

The World System won’t lie. It’s the most advanced piece of technology that exists in this world; it is something that not even the brightest minds of humans could compete with, much less subdue.

This isn’t an attempt to flatter Ren; the World System doesn’t do flattery. It treats everybody the same way, martial gods included.

That’s why getting a positive result and appraisal from the World System was a huge accomplishment on its own, simply because it doesn’t know how to hold back. It reveals both the good and the bad.

What really moved Ren was the rewards he received as the creator of this technique.

This resource won’t be pulled from GMU’s treasury; it comes from the World System itself.

”System inventory with 1000 slots, with each slot capable of stacking the same resource about 200 times. Time’s frozen inside, doesn’t burden me with weight at all, and is soul-bound, which prevents it from being stolen, but it’s not transferable.”

”This alone was worth it.”

”But holy shit! 5 MILLION MERIT POINTS?”

Ren’s reaction was entirely justified. You see, Merit Points were something that only dungeon explorers gained by, you guessed it, clearing dungeons and dungeon quests.

The merit point earnings start abysmally, with only single digits within the first 30 stages of the dungeons. It becomes more generous the higher one goes, obviously, to keep up with the difficulty of clearing dungeons. But even then, earning a million merit points would take months, if not, years of constant struggle.

Earning 5 million in one go? That’s insane! Especially for someone like Ren who’s not even qualified to become a dungeon explorer just yet.

As for the spending power of merit points? That’s not something anybody would question. Anything could be bought using merit points. The same can be said using Grand Martial Credits. That statement is enough to gain a clear understanding of how valuable merit points were.

Earning this many merit points in one go, Ren couldn’t help but feel something within him.

In some parts of his brain, he knew that it’s not likely the case, but just in case, he just had to ask.

”Hey, World System. How many merit points would it cost me to buy a cure for the Banished Arsenal Martial Physique?”
