Chapter 757: Chapter 757 Apology

Hearing this voice, the mysterious man immediately stopped his movements. Xiao Xiao’s attention was also drawn to this man.

He was over 1.8 meters tall and dressed in a black Long Robe. He held a folding fan and was incredibly handsome, with an elegant demeanor. He looked just like the young master of some prominent family.

”A-san, how could you treat my guest like this? I saw you make your move just now. Apologize to this young lady at once!” the man said, waving at his guard.

The mysterious man immediately walked over to Xiao Xiao and bowed low. ”I’m sorry, Miss. I have offended you.”

Xiao Xiao frowned at him. ”You were about to kill me. Do you think a simple apology can resolve everything?”

Although Xiao Xiao didn’t know their identities, she could tell from their attire that they must hold some status within the Xue Family. What gave them the right to attack me for no reason? After all, I’m still a guest of the Xue Family!

The man seemed to realize that just having his guard apologize was inappropriate. He slowly walked up to Xiao Xiao. ”Young lady, this man is named A-san. He is my guard. The end of this path leads to my residence, and it was I who ordered him to kill any intruders without mercy. Ultimately, I am the true culprit in this matter. I should be the one apologizing to you.”

Xiao Xiao frowned, looking at this glib man. It wasn’t that she wanted an apology; she was just furious about what had happened.

”Who exactly are you? Why can you act so freely on Xue Family grounds? And why are there no other people of the Xue Family here?” Xiao Xiao blurted out all her questions at once.

The man didn’t rush to answer. Instead, he smiled and nodded at her. ”Young lady, you’ve asked so many questions at once, I don’t even know where to begin. How about this? Why don’t you come inside for a cup of tea?”

Hearing this, Xiao Xiao glanced warily at the mysterious man behind him. She couldn’t gauge the strength of the man before her, but she was certainly very cautious of the guard behind him. If I just follow them like this, they could use some trick on me and I wouldn’t even know it. Besides, this place is so remote. If something really happened to me, I’m afraid no one would come to my rescue!

The man seemed to sense her apprehension. He turned to the guard behind him and said, ”A-san, you’ve frightened this young lady. Now she doesn’t trust me. What do you think we should do about this?”

The mysterious man shook his head, his expression blank.

Seeing this, the man pondered for a moment before declaring, ”In that case, sever one of your hands as an apology to this young lady!”

Xiao Xiao’s eyes widened in shock. Sever a hand? Is this man serious? Didn’t he just say the one who attacked me was his man? Is this how he treats his own people?

She couldn’t believe it. But in the next second, the mysterious man drew a knife and, without the slightest hesitation, chopped off one of his own hands.

Blood spurted instantly, but the mysterious man just stood there, his face devoid of expression.

The scene left Xiao Xiao dumbfounded. Her mouth fell open in shock. She wanted to say something but found she couldn’t make a sound.

”Young lady, I know my man startled you. Consider this an apology. If you have any other questions for me, I believe we can discuss them at my place. After all, I don’t like to talk out in the open,” the man said, his demeanor still gentle and refined.

Xiao Xiao watched his performance, a chill running down her spine. She wanted to refuse but didn’t know how to say it.

”Young lady, I’ll take your silence as agreement! Haha, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a guest. Please, come with me,” he laughed heartily, then turned and started walking toward the end of the path.

Looking at the mysterious man who remained standing motionless in his spot, Xiao Xiao swallowed hard and followed.

Soon, she followed him into an enormous, luxuriously decorated courtyard. It contained rockeries and ponds, a complete contrast to the scenery outside. However, despite its size, there were only one or two servants present, both dressed in the attire of Xue Family servants.

”A-san, go prepare a cup of tea for the young lady,” the man instructed as he led Xiao Xiao to a pavilion in the courtyard.

After scanning her surroundings, Xiao Xiao fixed her gaze back on the man. ”Uh, sir, I didn’t realize this was your residence. I was in a hurry and wandered in by mistake. I apologize for any offense.” Feeling extremely uneasy, she didn’t dare say much more.

But the man just smiled and waved it off. ”No worries, Little Girl Xiaoxiao. If my man hadn’t frightened you, you wouldn’t have been in such a rush.”

Hearing him call her Little Girl Xiaoxiao, she quickly asked, ”Do you know me?”

”Hahaha, how could I not? Little Girl Xiaoxiao is so beautiful. Countless men are captivated by you.” The man’s praise helped her relax a little.

”I wanted to ask, what exactly is your identity? To have such a luxurious place within the Xue Family...” She had never heard of such a person in the Xue Family before.

At that moment, A-san walked over with a pot of tea. His severed arm was now bandaged. He poured tea for both of them.

The man picked up his cup, took a light sip, and then looked at Xiao Xiao. ”Little Girl Xiaoxiao, as for my identity, you will naturally find out in due time.”

Hearing his reluctance to answer, Xiao Xiao didn’t press further. After all, she didn’t dare to be too inquisitive right now.

”May I ask your name, then?” she inquired.

The man smiled faintly. ”My name is Xue Wei.”

Xiao Xiao nodded. She really hadn’t heard that name before, but then again, perhaps she just hadn’t paid much attention to the Xue Family.

”By the way, Little Girl Xiaoxiao, you seem to be new to our Xue Family. You said you wandered in by mistake. Were you lost?” the man asked kindly.

Xiao Xiao quickly shook her head. ”No, no, I’m not lost. I know the way. I’ve just misplaced something and am looking for it.”

She glanced around. Her little pet was unlikely to be here. Judging by A-san’s earlier actions, he would have killed any intruder on sight, giving no quarter to human or beast. If her little pet had really come here, it would probably be a corpse by now.

But where on earth could my little pet have gone?
