Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The First Spiritual Medicine Purification

”Ye Qingchen, if you find the purification too difficult, don’t force yourself!” Wang Qiang quickly called out as he watched Ye Qingchen enter Alchemy Room No. 6.

Forget the Outer Sect Disciples; even among them, the Inner Sect Disciples, barely over a hundred could actually purify Spiritual Medicine. The difficulty was immense. For someone who had never practiced Alchemy, it was as difficult as ascending to the heavens. Therefore, Wang Qiang was not optimistic about Ye Qingchen’s chances of successfully purifying the Spiritual Medicine.

”Thank you for the reminder, Senior Brother!” Ye Qingchen smiled back at Wang Qiang and closed the door to Alchemy Room No. 6.

Behind Wang Qiang, a skinny young man stepped forward and said with a frown, ”Why do I always get the feeling this kid is unreliable? I’m afraid Hong Yan’s 1,000 Sect Points are going to go down the drain!”

Hong Yan shot the skinny young man a scornful look. ”He’s handsome, so I’m happy to waste them. If it were you, Laodao, I’d consider even one Sect Point a waste!”

Hearing this, the skinny young man, Laodao, looked immediately embarrassed and explained, ”Hong Yan, you misunderstand me! I’m not saying your choice was wrong. I’m just worried that if his Spiritual Medicine Purification fails, it will affect his State of Mind and cause problems for our Secret Realm mission! After all, Senior Brother Wang Qiang and the rest of us were only promoted from Outer Sect Disciples a few days ago. We spent nearly everything we had to become Inner Sect Disciples, and we’re all counting on this Secret Realm mission to turn our fortunes around!”

Hong Yan rolled her eyes at Laodao, while Wang Qiang’s expression darkened.

”Listen carefully, Laodao! We invited Ye Qingchen to join our team because the Secret Realm mission requires an Outer Sect Disciple to participate. The success or failure of the mission doesn’t depend on him; it depends on us. Do you understand?”

The mission hasn’t even started, and Laodao is already trying to shift the blame to Ye Qingchen. This is definitely a bad start.

”You’re right, Senior Brother Wang Qiang!” Laodao quickly admitted his mistake, his attitude extremely sincere. But no one noticed the flash of dissatisfaction and resentment deep in his eyes.

As Ye Qingchen entered the Alchemy Room, news that he had accepted a Spiritual Medicine Purification task spread rapidly.

More and more disciples gathered outside the Alchemy Rooms, all eyes focused on No. 6. They knew of Ye Qingchen’s astounding cultivation talent and his commendable combat prowess, and they were eager to find out if such a monstrous talent also possessed an aptitude for Alchemy.

Of course, most of them were there to see Ye Qingchen make a fool of himself. After all, compared to the failure of ordinary people, everyone seemed more eager to see an unreachable genius be embarrassed in front of them.

「Inside Alchemy Room No. 6.」

Ye Qingchen was unaware that his actions had attracted so much attention outside. At that moment, his gaze was fixed on a mud-yellow Pill Furnace in the center of the room.

In one corner was a row of Fire Stones. On the other side, a shelf was lined with Spirit Grasses of various shapes. In front of the shelf was a slot perfectly sized for a disciple’s Identity Token. Next to the slot was a brief introduction to the Alchemy Room. Ye Qingchen flipped through it, quickly understood the instructions, and immediately inserted his Identity Token into the slot.

BUZZ!

The glass panel in front of the shelf trembled and then slid open, allowing Ye Qingchen to freely take any Spirit Grass he wanted.

His gaze fell on a slender, green herb on the far left, and he picked it up. Simultaneously, a white light flashed from the slot. One point was deducted from his Identity Token, dropping his balance from 400 to 399.

Green Bamboo Grass. It cost one point and was the easiest to purify—perfect for someone like Ye Qingchen, who had no practical experience, to practice with.

He lit the Fire Stones and placed them at the bottom of the furnace. As the flames rose, the temperature inside the Pill Furnace gradually increased. Lifting the lid, Ye Qingchen tossed the Green Bamboo Grass into the Pill Furnace. As the temperature rose, the grass tumbled about and began to liquefy from the outside in, turning into droplets of green liquid.

While controlling the size of the flame from the Fire Stones, Ye Qingchen carefully sensed every change in temperature inside the Pill Furnace. Focusing the immense Soul Power from his Willow Wood Martial Soul, he could clearly sense tiny gray impurities appearing within the Medicinal Liquid.

Now, all Ye Qingchen had to do was refine out these impurities, then rely on his powerful Soul Power to remove them bit by bit, making the Medicinal Liquid increasingly pure.

Two minutes later, the gray impurities were completely removed. Ye Qingchen guided the emerald liquid out from the pill channel, pouring it into a porcelain bottle he had prepared beforehand.

Ye Qingchen wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.

”Everyone says Spiritual Medicine Purification is extremely difficult, but I succeeded on my first try. It doesn’t seem that hard at all. Could everyone be wrong?” Ye Qingchen murmured to himself.

If the people outside had heard his words, they probably would have been furious enough to spit blood.

He succeeded in purifying Spiritual Medicine on his very first try! Was there no justice in this world? Some of them had attempted it hundreds, even thousands of times, only to end in failure and ultimately give up. That showed just how difficult it was. If they knew Ye Qingchen had succeeded on his first try, their eyes would probably turn red with envy.

I wonder what the purity of this first batch is? How many Sect Points can I get for it? Ye Qingchen wondered hopefully as he placed the porcelain bottle into the Teleportation Array next to the slot.

A flash of white light swept the bottle away. After a moment of silence, a clear line of text appeared on the shelf: ”Green Bamboo Grass, purification purity 49%, awarded five Sect Points!”

The light flashed again, and the 399 points on Ye Qingchen’s Identity Token changed to 404.

Ye Qingchen’s eyes lit up. In just a few minutes, he had made a fivefold return! The speed at which he was earning points was astonishing. And this was with him choosing the lowest-grade, cheapest Spirit Grass! If he picked more expensive Spirit Grass that was harder to purify, the rewards would be even higher.

Moreover, as he familiarized himself with every detail of the process, the purity of the Spiritual Medicine he refined would increase, naturally earning him more Sect Points.

Tsk tsk, looks like I really chose the right task to earn Sect Points!

Overjoyed, Ye Qingchen picked up another stalk of Green Bamboo Grass and began purifying once more.

Time is money. I can’t waste a single moment!

Still in the initial practice stage, Ye Qingchen wasn’t greedy and continued to use Green Bamboo Grass to hone his skills.

After a full hour, he had lost count of how many stalks of Green Bamboo Grass he had purified. As he progressed, his purification speed and the resulting purity both increased. The points on his Identity Token had already reached an astonishing 1,000.

”Hahaha, I’m about to break even!” Overjoyed, Ye Qingchen started selecting more difficult Spirit Grass to purify in the Pill Furnace.

As the difficulty of the Spirit Grass increased, so did Ye Qingchen’s purification purity. It slowly progressed from less than fifty percent to sixty, then seventy, and eventually even eighty percent. Occasionally, he could even achieve ninety percent!

The points on Ye Qingchen’s Identity Token soared. After two hours, he had accrued a staggering total of 5,300 points.

When his time was up, Ye Qingchen didn’t leave. He continued to purify Spiritual Medicine.

I have to save up enough points to exchange for a Breakthrough Pill!

「Outside the Alchemy Room.」

When Ye Qingchen didn’t come out on time, it unsurprisingly stirred a wave of skeptical murmurs among the waiting crowd.

”He’s been in there for so long. Ye Qingchen must have failed the task!”

”How do you know?”

”His time is up and he still hasn’t come out. He must be too ashamed to show his face!”

”So much for being a genius!”

”What a letdown!”
