Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 68: Chapter 68 The Idiot

”Brother!”

Upon seeing the approaching young man, Liu Wenzhuang’s face immediately lit up with delight.

This was his elder brother, Liu Wenqiang. Not only had his cultivation reached the Ninth Layer of the Martial Artist realm, making him incredibly powerful, but he had also been promoted to an Inner Sect Disciple of the Qingyun Sect. His future was limitless!

The moment he saw Liu Wenqiang, Liu Wenzhuang tucked the Cultivation Resources he had originally intended for Ye Qingchen back into his robes.

Liu Wenqiang stopped five meters from Ye Qingchen, his expression cold.

”Let go of my brother’s hand. Then, loudly declare that your previous bet is void. After that, kneel on the ground and kowtow to him three times, and I can let you off the hook today.”

As he spoke, a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

Daring to bully my brother... I’ll kill Ye Qingchen sooner or later!

However, Ye Qingchen seemed to completely ignore Liu Wenqiang’s warning. His hand suddenly tightened its grip!

”CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!”

The sound of splintering bone was followed by a wave of excruciating pain, causing Liu Wenzhuang to scream endlessly.

”I’ll ask you, does our previous bet still count?”

”It does! It does! It does!”

”Does today’s bet still count?”

”It does! It does! It does!”

”Hand over the Cultivation Resources!”

”Yes, yes, yes!”

Liu Wenzhuang frantically used his other hand to pull out the Cultivation Resources he had just hidden and handed them to Ye Qingchen.

After taking the resources and checking that everything was there, Ye Qingchen gave a hard shove, sending Liu Wenzhuang sprawling onto the ground.

”For the next year, if you don’t want to suffer, you will bring me your Cultivation Resources on time the moment they’re distributed!”

Clutching his crippled right hand, Liu Wenzhuang glared at Ye Qingchen, his face a mask of fury and resentment. He was seething but dared not speak a word.

Then, the tall, sturdy Liu Wenzhuang looked toward Liu Wenqiang, his expression as pitiful as a wronged bride’s.

”Brother!”

Seeing that Ye Qingchen had completely disregarded his warning, Liu Wenqiang’s expression darkened, and he began to laugh from sheer anger.

”Good. Very good! Ye Qingchen, you dare to injure my brother right in front of me. You’ve got guts!”

Ye Qingchen shot Liu Wenqiang an exasperated glance.

”Are you blind? He attacked first. Plus, we had a bet. All these people saw it and can prove it for me!”

If it weren’t for his own strength, he would be the one lying injured on the ground right now.

Liu Wenqiang sneered, ”Sharp-tongued, are we? You’re asking for a beating!”

The moment the words left his mouth, Liu Wenqiang charged forward. In the next instant, he was in front of Ye Qingchen, throwing a punch straight at him!

Ye Qingchen hadn’t expected Liu Wenqiang to strike so suddenly. His expression changed, and he quickly threw a punch in return.

”BANG!”

As their fists collided, Ye Qingchen was forced back three steps, while Liu Wenqiang stood his ground, unmoved.

Clearly, Liu Wenqiang had the upper hand.

Ye Qingchen stared at Liu Wenqiang, his brow furrowed. The Inner Sect Disciples of the Qingyun Sect were truly extraordinary. The power of that punch had been immense, and the blood within his body was still churning.

Liu Wenqiang stood motionless, but inside, his mind was in turmoil.

I used my full strength in that punch! Even among other Ninth-Layer Martial Artist Inner Sect Disciples, few could take it head-on! And yet Ye Qingchen, a mere Seventh-Layer Martial Artist, was only pushed back three steps? He’s even stronger than those Inner Sect Disciples!

”Come! Take another one!” Liu Wenqiang snorted coldly and threw another punch.

This time, he channeled the potent Spiritual Power from his Dantian, surging it into his arm, making the attack at least thirty percent stronger than before.

This punch will be enough to gravely injure him and leave him bedridden for a month or two!

Ye Qingchen showed not a trace of fear. The Dual Pupil Martial Soul activated instantly. In his eyes, Liu Wenqiang’s speed immediately slowed down, and at the same time, the distribution of force across his opponent’s fist became perfectly clear.

He swiftly took two steps back, evading the brunt of the punch. At the precise moment Liu Wenqiang’s momentum was about to wane, Ye Qingchen struck out with his own fist.

”BANG!”

The two fists collided once more.

”THUD! THUD! THUD!”

”THUD! THUD! THUD!”

This time, both Ye Qingchen and Liu Wenqiang were knocked back five steps.

An even match.

”What!”

”How is this possible!”

The onlookers, including Huang Xiaoshuai, stared with wide, disbelieving eyes.

Ye Qingchen had actually fought a Ninth-Layer Martial Artist, an Inner Sect Disciple, to a standstill! If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they would never have believed it.

Liu Wenqiang was even more incredulous.

That punch was much stronger than the last one, yet not only did Ye Qingchen take it, he even fought me to a draw? And I have this strange feeling... as if he can see through the weaknesses in my attacks!

”Young Master, you’re amazing!” Xiao Xiao squealed, clapping enthusiastically. She gave Ye Qingchen a big thumbs-up, her pretty face beaming with admiration, the very picture of a devoted fan.

Liu Wenzhuang stared at his brother, his eyes full of confusion.

How is this possible? My brother, who was always so incredibly powerful... why doesn’t he seem so mighty today? An esteemed Inner Sect Disciple can’t even handle an Outer Sect Disciple? And one who just joined the Sect at that!

Feeling his reputation was on the line, Liu Wenqiang’s expression turned grim.

”Kid, I underestimated you! Fine! I’ll make a bet with you, too. Let’s go to the Life-and-Death Stage and fight to the death. Do you dare accept?”

Having said that, Liu Wenqiang stared down at Ye Qingchen with an overbearing arrogance.

Upon hearing this, the crowd erupted into an uproar.

An Inner Sect Disciple was actually challenging an Outer Sect Disciple to a duel to the death!

To fight on the Life-and-Death Stage!

Liu Wenqiang’s proposal had caught everyone completely by surprise.

Before Ye Qingchen could even respond, Xiao Xiao, who was standing beside him, grew furious. She pointed at Liu Wenqiang and started yelling.

”You’re shameless! An Inner Sect Disciple attacking an Outer Sect Disciple... you’re nothing but a bully! You’re in your twenties, and my Young Master is only seventeen! You’re at least six or seven years older than him, and you have the nerve to attack him in public?

”And if that’s not bad enough, now you’re issuing a life-and-death challenge? You’re an Inner Sect Disciple! What’s so great about bullying someone from the Outer Sect? If you’ve got so much courage, why don’t you go challenge the Sect Master to a deathmatch?”

Hearing Xiao Xiao’s words, Liu Wenqiang’s face turned black.

He was indeed several years older than Ye Qingchen, and for an Inner Sect Disciple to attack an Outer Sect Disciple was, by definition, bullying the weak. If word got out, he would become a laughingstock.

But he had already torn away all pretense with Ye Qingchen. If he didn’t kill him now, he feared the chance would never come again!

It was for this reason that he had swallowed his pride and issued the public death challenge.

The surrounding Outer Sect Disciples all shook their heads.

Even if Ye Qingchen refused Liu Wenqiang’s challenge, no one would think him a coward. The challenge was, after all, fundamentally unfair.

”Idiot.”

Just as everyone expected, Ye Qingchen simply rolled his eyes at Liu Wenqiang. He gestured for Xiao Xiao to follow and turned toward his courtyard without a second glance, leaving Liu Wenqiang standing there, frozen and utterly dumbfounded.
