Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2548: Chapter 36: Mo Hua (2)

...

The Evil Qi was still growing denser.

The flow of Qi around Mo Hua’s body was still being stained by the Evil Qi, turning darker and darker; even in his eyes, there was no longer the slightest trace of any other color.

Yet this Evil Qi did not launch a forcible assault on Mo Hua’s Divine Sense.

Or rather, this Evil Qi did not dare.

It did not even dare to invade the ”central palace” of Mo Hua’s Divine Sense, the location of the Taoist Stele.

It only ”attacked from the side,” quietly fading Mo Hua’s memories, transforming Mo Hua’s Taoist Heart, making him willingly, actively complete this reversal, ”voluntarily” step onto another, blackened path to becoming an ”immortal.”

The Two Qi Lock on Mo Hua’s neck was trembling, but it could not break free of a gray, chain-like current of Qi.

Nor had Mo Hua, in the strictest sense, encountered a ”life-and-death crisis.”

What he faced was merely a choice of the Dao.

Even if his memories were erased, his Life Chart altered, his Taoist Heart inverted, Mo Hua himself would not die.

The one that died would only be that ”Mo Hua” of the past.

But to Mo Hua, if his former self died, it might also mean that his true self had likewise ”died”...

Only, there was nothing he could do now.

He had lost his memories, and with them, lost his ”anchor point.”

To forget the past was to forget the self.

In their place, his mind was now entirely controlled by the emotion of ”killing.”

His understanding of the Dao had completely turned to the opposite extreme.

Mo Hua’s ”Dao” was about to complete its reversal.

And just as Mo Hua was about to truly ”blacken” and become another ”Mo Hua”—

A pure white, incomparably mysterious Heavenly Mechanism Pattern suddenly lit up above the life palace at the center of his brow, protecting his Heavenly secret and Life Chart.

This white Heavenly Mechanism Pattern began to perform its own Calculation and transformation, starting to ”reset” Mo Hua’s Life Chart, to ”backtrack” Mo Hua’s Heavenly secret.

It caused Mo Hua’s heart, Mo Hua’s memories, Mo Hua’s karma, as well as his comprehension of the Dao, to be recompiled, returning to that instant before they were ”tainted” by the Evil Qi:

”Who... am I...”

”What is my name...”

Mo Hua began to ask himself anew.

But he had already asked and answered this question once; recalling it now, he felt a strong sense of déjà vu.

Quick-witted as he was, Mo Hua instantly sensed something was wrong. He was this smart—how could he possibly ask himself such a stupid question? And twice?

Something had definitely gone wrong...

Where had it gone wrong?

Mo Hua began to examine himself.

”Who... am I...”

”What is my name...”

Mo Hua was stunned for a moment. ”Right, what was my name again?”

He had completely forgotten what he was called, and when he tried to think carefully, he found only a haze in his mind, not a single trace left behind.

Mo Hua could only quiet his heart and strain to recall.

Blurry images in his mind blended together like watercolors, reality becoming indistinguishable from illusion. Only broken, intermittent voices sounded, as though many people had repeatedly recited the same name to him:

Mo Hua.

Mo Hua started, ”My name is Mo Hua?”

”But... who is Mo Hua? Why can’t I remember anything at all?”

”Am I really Mo Hua?”

”Is it possible that everything is fake? That I’m actually not Mo Hua, and then I would be...”

”No, that’s not right...” Mo Hua gradually settled on a single thought. ”I am Mo Hua. In this world, there is only one Mo Hua—me. Any other ’Mo Hua’ is fake. If they exist, they’re nothing more than thoughts split off from me...”

Mo Hua’s Divine Sense grew ever more clear.

All of a sudden, a bizarre surge of Evil Qi rose up.

By Mo Hua’s ears, it seemed as if countless Vengeful Spirits were howling and roaring without cease, demanding his life, weeping, denouncing, cursing, threatening, forcing, and mocking him.

Mo Hua grew more and more irritable.

His desire to kill grew heavier and heavier.

”Make another sound, and I’ll... kill you all...”

At the birth of this killing intent, the ”Dao” that had just been reset by the Heavenly Mechanism Pattern once again began to play out in Mo Hua’s heart:

”Kill them all...”

”Kill all living beings...”

”Why... can’t I kill them?”

”Save all beings... Why must I save all beings? Why? Do all beings need me to save them? What is there that’s worth saving?”

”Human hearts are greedy, selfish...”

Mo Hua realized that his heart was growing colder and colder, and he hurried to halt his own thoughts, cutting off the flow of all his reflections.

”No...”

”I have to recover my memories, reclaim myself...”

Mo Hua began to discard stray thoughts and ponder his own origin.

”If I am Mo Hua, then I should have parents. It’s not like I jumped out of a crack in a rock...”

”My parents...”

A resolute face, and another gentle, loving face, surfaced in Mo Hua’s mind.

”They... are my parents.”

”Then, do I also have... a Master? After all, Cultivation requires guidance from someone...” Mo Hua’s expression turned dazed. ”Master...”

A figure with an immortal bearing, free and unrestrained, appeared in Mo Hua’s mind. A handsome face, smiling as it looked at Mo Hua, brimming with expectation.

”My... Master...”

The Heavenly Mechanism Pattern between Mo Hua’s brows radiated white light, dispelling a large swathe of Evil Qi and illuminating a vast stretch of the eerie fog shrouding his memories.

”The bamboo courtyard, the small pond, the big locust tree, Master, Old Kui, Junior Brother, and then...”

”Senior Sister!”

”Senior Sister is my...”

Mo Hua frowned, racking his brains for a long time, when suddenly two words leapt into his mind:

Anchor point.

But...

”What... is an anchor point?”

Mo Hua furrowed his brows tightly, and then a wave of familiar recollection washed over him.

Back at Taixu Gate, when he practiced the Tai Xu Divine Thought into sword, the ”Supreme Heavenly Demon Slash” Dao he cultivated along with it rose to Mo Hua’s mind like ”muscle memory” imprinted on his Divine Sense, almost by instinct.
