Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2542: Chapter 34: Earth Store Corpse (Part 2)

Yet if one’s nature is influenced by evil qi, giving rise to murderous intent, then it becomes quite dangerous.

This means his Taoist heart is gradually being obscured by ’murderous intent’...

”Escape first...”

Mo Hua’s pupils slightly contracted. He tried to calm his mind and flee south in the predetermined direction.

Elder Xu and the four Golden Cores continued the pursuit from behind.

Thus, another seven or eight days passed, during which Mo Hua braved the elements, traveling day and night.

The four from Elder Xu’s team also pursued tirelessly, like hungry wolves relentlessly on his trail.

Amidst his frustrations, Mo Hua was again puzzled by one question:

How are these Golden Cores catching up to him?

Clearly, his divine sense was already strong enough.

His concealment and movement techniques were also exquisite, and his aura was isolated.

Yet these ”mangy dog” elders from Yin Corpse Valley managed to stay hot on his trail?

Does the cultivation world have such marvelous spells?

Mo Hua pondered for a moment, still at a loss. Then he thought again: the cultivation world is vast and full of wonders. Some arcane and secret spells can detect people’s locations, which shouldn’t be surprising.

But at this moment, he had no time to investigate further and could only find ways to continue escaping south...

Sensing the elders from Yin Corpse Valley drawing closer, Mo Hua’s gaze focused, and then he merged with the essence of the mountains and woods, employing the Minor Five Elements Stealth Skill. His figure vanished into the forests, and his aura disappeared as if it had sunk into the sea.

Nobody knew where he had gone.

The mountains lay empty and silent when suddenly, several escape lights flashed across the sky.

Amidst the swirling dust, the figures of Elder Xu and his team were revealed.

They had been pursuing Mo Hua and stopped at this location, looking around with grim expressions.

”That brat disappeared again... damn it...”

One of the Golden Cores from Yin Corpse Valley couldn’t help but curse aloud.

Elder Xu’s face remained stern as he started chanting and gesturing, pressing his hand to the ground. But this time, pressing wasn’t enough; he also had to cut his wrist to bleed in order to summon the half-human-height, earth-colored zombie covered in spells.

The Earth Store Corpse, after absorbing the blood, whispered something obscure to Elder Xu.

But this murmur was so faint that only Elder Xu could understand it.

After speaking, the Earth Store Corpse vanished back into the ground.

A nearby elder from Yin Corpse Valley, both envious and impressed, said:

”This time, it’s really thanks to Elder Xu’s ’Earth Store Corpse’. Otherwise, we’d truly have no way to deal with this elusive brat...”

The Earth Store Corpse is rumored to be imbued with the Taoist meaning of Ksitigarbha, possessing the ability to listen, discern appearances, distinguish truth from falsehood, and trace trails, knowing things unknown to ordinary people.

The Earth Store Corpse is also one of the rare corpses sought after by Demon Gate Corpse Dao cultivators.

Elder Xu, a direct lineage of Yin Corpse Valley with a prestigious Taoist inheritance, had a fateful encounter when he was young that allowed him to form a corpse contract with an Earth Store Corpse.

Thus, even though he is only at the initial Golden Core stage, his words carry significant weight among the elders of Yin Corpse Valley on this mission, second only to Elder Fu, who is at the Late Golden Core Stage.

”Indeed... the Earth Store Corpse is worthy of being called the ’mystical corpse’ of the valley, truly extraordinary.”

Another elder of Yin Corpse Valley also sighed:

”But that brat is indeed strange, with movements as elusive as a ghost, as fleeting as a stream, invisible in concealment, unbreakable in movement techniques, unreachable, and untouchable. I could even believe he’s a ’ghost’... At this rate, who knows when we’ll be able to capture him...”

Everyone frowned at these words.

Elder Ma from Yin Corpse Valley, who was at the Golden Core Middle Stage, said slowly:

”Things have reached this point; we can’t manage the situation in Little Post City anymore. We can only capture this brat and report back. There’s no other choice.”

”But the problem is...” Elder Ma said in a deep voice, ”We can’t just keep going on and on with this brat.”

”If he escapes for a month or two, that’s fine, but if he goes on for a year or two, are we supposed to chase him for a year or two?”

”Now, with the great chaos in Li State, as elders of Yin Corpse Valley, we have larger plans...”

The others also nodded, ”Continuing like this is indeed not feasible... if it drags on too long, it’ll be hard to explain when we go back, and it’ll delay major events.”

”We need to think of a way to capture this brat sooner rather than later...”

”But how do we catch him? This brat is as elusive as a ghost...”

Everyone fell silent.

After a moment, Elder Xu suddenly asked:

”What do you all think of this brat’s identity? Is he of the Righteous Dao, or the Demon Path?”

The other three were stunned, not understanding why Elder Xu suddenly asked this.

”Anyway, he doesn’t seem like someone from the Demon Path...” Elder Ma mused,

”Along our pursuit, he hasn’t killed a single person. Even when passing through some mountain villages, he didn’t harm a soul. To avoid implicating innocents, he often chose remote mountain paths during his escape.”

”These actions are definitely not typical of the Demon Path. This child likely has a kind heart.”

Elder Xu sneered coldly, ”If that’s the case, we shall slaughter villages, kill everyone we see along the way, and force him to stop.”

Elder Ma was startled, ”Would that even work?”

Elder Xu said, ”If he belongs to the Righteous Dao and has a kind heart, he certainly wouldn’t stand by and do nothing.”

”Once he tries to intervene, he will fall into our calculations and be held back by us. If his conscience weighs on him and his moves become uncoordinated, exposing flaws, that will be our opportunity.”

Elder Ma asked, ”What if he is someone with a cold, selfish heart?”

Elder Xu said, ”If he is indifferent and selfish, unconcerned with life and death, we lose nothing but a few mountain village peasants.”

”But if I’m right, using a few inconsequential lives to restrain him would indeed be a profitable move.”
