Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 1924: Chapter 938: Funerals (Part 3)

Tao cultivation experience can sometimes be more important than cultivation itself.

Mo Hua pondered for a long time, and when he snapped back to reality, he realized it was already late.

He turned his head again, looked at the stone debris and chisel marks in front of him, and asked, “Is there a tomb here in Solitary Mountain?”

“That’s the strange part,” Master Gu frowned and said, “This is a mining mountain, with so many mines, I don’t know how many times it’s been excavated. Who would bury a tomb here? These tomb robbers, I can’t tell if they’re stupid or have some ideas…”

“Do they have other motives? Is tomb robbing just a cover?” Mo Hua speculated.

“It’s possible…” Master Gu nodded in agreement.

Mo Hua stroked his chin, “Let’s see if there are any other clues, let’s find out what this group of tomb robbers is really up to.”

Master Gu hesitated a bit.

This was a matter for Solitary Mountain City; he didn’t really want to trouble Mo Hua.

The young master was a man of “great deeds” and didn’t need to waste time here.

Moreover, most tomb robbers were ruthless, vicious people, and he didn’t really dare to let Mo Hua take risks.

But in the blink of an eye, Mo Hua was already searching for clues around.

Master Gu sighed in his heart.

With the young master’s current status, he does whatever he wants, and he can’t really stop him.

Master Gu could only follow closely within ten feet of Mo Hua, protecting him while searching for tomb-robbing traces near the mines.

He was actually curious too, about the intentions of this gang of tomb robbers.

He even felt somewhat wary.

Strange things must have something supernatural, and on this always peaceful mining mountain, suddenly foreign robbers came to loot tombs; there must be something odd…

After that, the two of them searched around nearby, but there were few traces outside the mines. The mines were deep, intricate, and there were no other clues.

Master Gu glanced at the sky and said, “Young Master, let’s go back first.”

Mo Hua could only nod.

The matter of the tomb robbers is just strange, not worth wasting too much time on.

The urgent matter is still Solitary Mountain, especially the affairs of the Shen Family.

But that being said, leaving it entirely unattended isn’t good either.

Mo Hua thought for a moment and then said, “Let’s take a trip to the Solitary Mountain Taoist Court and talk to them about it.”

By the way, he also happened to meet with Master Fan of Solitary Mountain City.

“Alright.” Master Gu nodded.

So the two left the Solitary Mountain, entered the city, and walked straight to the Taoist Court located in the north of the city along the Blue Stone Street.

The Solitary Mountain Taoist Court, the place is quite large, but very dilapidated and old.

At a glance, it was once splendid, but now it’s rundown.

There aren’t many staff in the Taoist Court either.

Solitary Mountain City is down and out, cultivators struggle to make a living, and consequently, the Taoist Court is poor, a barebones establishment, unable to sustain many idle people.

Upon entering the Taoist Court, there was an enforcement leader guarding the gate.

This enforcement leader was listless and impatient, until he saw Master Gu, who was at the Golden Core Realm, and immediately stood up smiling:

“Master Gu, what brings you here today?”

In recent years, the Gu Family’s refinery shop business has suddenly improved, earning more Spirit Stones, and there’s been a substantial increase in their spiritual tax submissions to the Taoist Court.

If not for this, the days for these minor enforcement leaders would be even more difficult to endure.

“Bread and butter,” so they must be treated well, hence the enforcement leader was especially courteous to Master Gu.

Master Gu said, “Is Master Fan in?”

“He is, he is.” The enforcement leader nodded.

“Could you please inform him that I’d like to have some tea and discuss something with him?”

“Please wait a moment, I’ll go inform him.”

The enforcement leader said and then dashed towards the inner hall.

In the inner hall’s archivist room.

Fan Jin was slumped in his chair, his face filled with frustration, in a terrible mood.

When the enforcement leader came in hurriedly, it roused Fan Jin’s irritation even more.

As soon as the enforcement leader entered the door and before he could speak, Fan Jin couldn’t help but berate him:

“Didn’t I tell you? Don’t bother me today! Damn it, this place is a godforsaken hole with no peace…”

The enforcement leader was used to the scolding, stammering a bit: “No, it’s just…”

“What is it?”

“It’s Master Gu.”

“Master Gu?” Fan Jin frowned, “What’s he doing here?”

“Master Gu said he invites you for tea…to discuss some matters.” The enforcement leader said in a low voice.

Fan Jin rubbed his forehead, impatiently said: “Tell him maybe another day…I’m not in a good mood today.”

“Alright,” said the enforcement leader, “I’ll go tell him you’re not in a good mood and to come back another day.”

Fan Jin’s forehead twitched, his temper flared, he gritted his teeth: “Are you… thick-headed? Can you reply to someone like that? I’ve told you so many times, why can’t you remember! You should say I’m ‘busy with affairs’, and ‘invite him to come another day’.”

Fan Jin felt desperate.

They say a spiritual land raises special people, non-spiritual land, non-special people.

This godforsaken place of Solitary Mountain City, with its harsh conditions, recruits some enforcement leaders whose brains aren’t sharp and whose speech isn’t smooth.

“Oh, okay…” The enforcement leader memorized “busy with affairs”, “come another day”, and walked out the door.

“Wait,” Fan Jin frowned, asked, “Did Master Gu come alone?”

“No,” the enforcement leader said, “he also brought a follower.”

“Follower?” Fan Jin frowned, waved his hand, a bit dispirited, “Then never mind.”

The enforcement leader walked out a few steps.

Just as he was about to leave, Fan Jin felt uneasy, called him to stop: “Hold on!”

Fan Jin asked: “This ‘follower’… what do they look like?”

The enforcement leader pondered for a moment, described: “…fair-skinned, not very tall, quite handsome.”

Before he finished speaking, the originally slumped Fan Jin immediately sprang up from his chair like a carp flipping out of water.

“You’re really… gonna be the end of me someday.” Fan Jin was extremely annoyed.

Just a little, just a little more…

“Quick, go invite them in!” Fan Jin ordered.

The enforcement leader was taken aback, said “Yes”, and was about to turn around when Fan Jin stopped him again.

“Forget it…” Fan Jin pondered, “No need to invite; I’ll go myself!”

“You’re going yourself?” The enforcement leader was stunned.

“Yes.”

Fan Jin somehow took out a mirror.

He tidied his clothes in the mirror, adjusted his hair crown, and then promptly put on an extremely bright smile, walked out of the inner hall with a brisk step, leaving the enforcement leader with a look as if he’d seen a ghost.

When he left the inner hall and came to the front yard, seeing Mo Hua from a distance, Fan Jin’s eyes lit up, and his smile became even more radiant.

“Master Gu! Young Master Mo! Pardon my neglect, please forgive me, please forgive me!”

Fan Jin was exceedingly enthusiastic.

Times have changed for the better, fortune has turned, the “great noble” has finally arrived!
