Seeing everyone’s expressions, Lin Yi knew that they understood what he meant.

Then, he repeated the results of Qiao Xin’s analysis.

This point was equally alarming.

“Lin Yi, you’re good. You can even see through this. Looks like we have to work harder, or we won’t be as good as you.”

Lin Yi wasn’t greedy for credit and he said honestly,

“I have a friend who’s an old fan of Conan. She analyzed it for me while we were eating.”

“Your friend is really amazing,” Li Xianghui praised. Then, he said,

“Now, we can confirm that this is a murder case, so we have to change the direction of the investigation.”

“We found Du Juan and Song Deyuan’s phone records yesterday. This is very important evidence. Do we need to interrogate them first?”

“Not for the time being.” Li Xianghui thought for a moment and said.

“But from now on, everyone’s visits are restricted until the detention period ends!”

“Got it.”

“Little Gao went to investigate Song Deyuan’s company. He’ll probably be back for a while.” Li Xianghui looked at Lin Yi and Gu Yiran and said.

“The two of you go to the scenic area again and investigate the surveillance footage. See if you can find anything new.”

“I don’t want to go with him.” Gu Yiran said, “1 will go with Brother Hui.”

“Don’t. I’m going to have a second child soon. I have to find a place to catch up on my sleep every night,” Zhang Hui said.

“Just go. Why do you have so many requests?”

“Got it, Brother Li.”

Gu Yiran was unwilling to go out with Lin Yi. The latter said,

“What’s wrong? Didn’t you keep boasting earlier? If you have the ability, don’t go with me.”

“Are you trying to anger me on purpose?!”

Gu Yiran raised his leg and kicked Lin Yi.

Lin Yi’s reaction speed was far faster than Gu Yiran’s. He dodged easily, grabbed her arm, and threw her over his shoulder.

Whoosh!

He threw Gu Yiran to the ground.

“F*ck! My butt!”

Lin Yi left, and the people from the other departments stuck their heads out to see what was going on.

“What are you looking at?!”

Gu Yiran said angrily and followed him out.

She wanted to rub her butt, but with so many people watching, she felt embarrassed.

Damn it, why did she fight with him for no reason?

Muttering under her breath, Gu Yiran reluctantly got into Lin Yi’s car and they headed towards Erlong Mountain Scenic Area.

“Is there a nail under your butt? Can’t you sit down obediently for a while? Is your sanitary pad crooked?”

“You still have the cheek to say that? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be like this.”

“That butt of yours is all dry and shriveled. There’s no meat at all. It’ll definitely hurt if you fall.” Lin Yi said.

“Exercise more when you get back. Train your perky butt. That way, it won’t feel anything if you fall.”

“Who are you calling shriveled? 1 have a butt too!”

“Mother’s milk leads to filial thoughts, whatever you say goes.”

“Damn!”

The rest of the journey was silent.

Gu Yiran flipped through the details of the case while Lin Yi drove.

“There’s something else 1 don’t understand.”

Gu Yiran was a person who distinguished between personal and professional matters. Although she may not think highly of Lin Yi in private, she did not let that affect their working relationship.

“Shoot.”

“The murderer wanted to kill Song Deyuan. He thought of using contraband to make him hallucinate and fall off the cliff to die. But how could the other party be sure that Song Deyuan would fall off the cliff at that place?”

Gu Yiran voiced his doubts.

“If your guess is true, the murderer deliberately adjusted the camera to cover up the murder as an accident that fell off the cliff. However, if Song Deyuan takes a few more steps forward, the video would miss him. The preparation of the surveillance video will be useless.”

“I’ve thought of that too.” Lin Yi pondered.

“Therefore, at the time of the crime, it’s very likely that the murderer was communicating with Song Deyuan. Then, he asked him to stop at the designated place. That would explain it.”

Gu Yiran’s eyes lit up, “According to you, the person who kept in touch with Song Deyuan might be the murderer!”

“That’s right!” Lin Yi said.

“So, while we’re investigating the surveillance footage, we have to go to the crime scene again.”

“Good!”

More than an hour later, the two of them arrived at Erlong Mountain Scenic Area.

They quickly realized that the scenic area was already closed.

Given the incident and its coverage in the news, even if the place wasn’t closed down, it’s unlikely that any tourists would visit anymore.

When they arrived at the gate, Gu Yiran showed her work pass.

“Can I help you?”

The security guard at the door was a middle-aged man in his forties. He had a square face and looked honest.

“Someone fell off a cliff and died here yesterday. Open the door. We want to go in and investigate.”

“Okay, okay, okay. Hold on.”

The middle-aged security guard was very cooperative and did not reject them.

Ordinary people were in awe of the police. Although the area heads said to close down the park, they would still open the door for them.

The railing was opened and Gu Yiran was about to go in, but Lin Yi didn’t move. He glanced at the surveillance camera in the gate.

Although the video quality was not bad, it was still not as clear as the scene of Song Deyuan falling off the cliff.

“Brother, 1 want to ask you something,” Lin Yi said politely.

“Huh? You want to ask me about something?”

The middle-aged security guard looked flustered. “I was just guarding the door. I don’t know anything.”

Lin Yi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He understood the other party’s mentality very well.

The commoners just wanted to live a peaceful life and did not want to get into trouble.

Instinctively, he was afraid that the police would investigate him. It felt ominous.

If his neighbors found out about this, they would definitely roll their eyes and despise him.

“Don’t be afraid. I just want to understand the situation from you. I don’t mean anything else.”

“Then, ask away.”

“I think your surveillance cameras are quite good. How many years have they been in use? What brand are they?”

“All, you want to ask about this.”

Seeing Lin Yi ask about the surveillance, the middle-aged security guard relaxed a lot and said,

“It’s been almost a month. The quality is indeed quite good. Last week, an old lady scammed us. The surveillance cameras captured it clearly.”

More than a month ago…

Lin Yi muttered, “Were the cameras changed because the scenic area was being upgraded?”

“I’m just a security guard. How would 1 know about these things?” The security guard said.

“Anyway, in the past, there were many cameras that didn’t work well. In addition, there were always leaders who came to check the site, so they probably decided to change them.”

“Then there are many private businesses in your scenic area. Were their cameras also replaced by the scenic area management?”

The security guard thought for a while. “That’s hard to say. After all, most of the people who come here to do business are related to the higher-ups. I don’t know how the fees are calculated.”

“Alright, thank you, Big Brother.”

“No problem.”

After asking what they wanted to know, they drove into the park. Gu Yiran asked,

“Did you notice anything?”

“There should be a problem with the surveillance camera. Let’s go in and confirm it later..”
