I Can See Experience Points

Chapter 43: Chapter 42: Are You a Monster?

Getting off at his stop, He Xiaotian stood on the street, gazing at the familiar Shanghai Medical University. It felt like an eternity had passed.

Probably because he had experienced too many bizarre things since getting the Experience Points system.

He walked into a random coffee shop, ordered some dessert, and began to observe.

A police cordon had been set up around the perimeter of the Medical University, and two soldiers holding steel rifles stood guard meticulously at the entrance.

As for the inside, it appeared to be completely empty.

But he was certain that things were definitely not as simple as they seemed on the surface.

A waiter brought over his coffee and dessert. He Xiaotian asked, ”Do you know what’s going on here?”

He pointed toward the Medical University as he spoke.

”Hah, the news spread a long time ago. They’re saying there was a toxic gas leak from a university lab, and the epidemic prevention unit is making emergency repairs.”

”Oh.”

He Xiaotian nodded and then began to sip his coffee intermittently.

During this time, a few passersby who got too close were given stern warnings.

He absolutely didn’t believe the story about a so-called toxic gas leak.

Don’t forget, he had spent two years at the school himself. He knew it better than anyone.

After finishing his coffee and paying the bill, He Xiaotian walked out and circled the university.

In the end, there were no blind spots.

There were soldiers standing guard inside the school grounds as well, all of them armed with live ammunition.

He also discovered that cameras had been installed in what used to be surveillance blind spots—a type not available on the commercial market.

They were probably military-grade, meant to prevent outsiders from sneaking in.

Occasionally, three or four drones would take to the sky to patrol the surrounding area.

A defense of this level could be described as impregnable.

There was no way he could sneak in during the day, and it would likely be just as difficult at night.

For now, He Xiaotian had no desire to test the law and find out how powerful a rifle was.

The penetrating power and impact of a bullet were definitely not something he could withstand.

’This is definitely a special case, but I don’t know what type. Since the government is taking it this seriously, it must be a big deal. The risk is extremely high, but that means the Experience Points will certainly be higher too.

’This situation isn’t going to be resolved anytime soon. I need to hurry up and increase my strength so I can carve out a slice of this big cake at the Medical University when the time is right.’

That’s right. In He Xiaotian’s eyes, special cases were like a big cake slathered in frosting.

A poisonous one, of course.

If you were powerful enough, you could fearlessly devour it in one gulp, enjoying the satisfying feeling of the frosting sliding down your throat.

If you weren’t strong enough, daring to take a bite was suicide.

He boarded a bus again and returned to his new home.

He needed to rest and build up his energy. He still had ten million to earn tonight.

Compared to villas that cost hundreds of millions, it was still just a drop in the bucket.

At the very least, it was comparable to the paper mill his father, He Sheng, had toiled at for half his life.

His mom had told him before that the family’s savings were currently around thirty million.

The bulk of that came from the land the paper mill was on.

In over twenty years, they had made about ten million at most.

And now, He Xiaotian only needed to stay in a haunted house for twelve hours to earn that same amount.

Not even robbery was this fast.

If He Sheng knew about this, he would probably cough up blood.

’My life’s savings from half a lifetime of diligent work can be matched by you sleeping for one night?

’Is there any justice left in this world?’

At noon, he took out his phone, opened an app, and ordered a whole roasted sheep.

It would be delivered around five or six in the evening.

So, he spent the entire afternoon sleeping in his rented room.

Then, the amazing delivery guy delivered the whole roasted sheep right on time before dinner.

Immediately after, the whole family once again witnessed He Xiaotian’s performance.

He devoured an entire large sheep, bite by bite.

He even crunched up some of the bones, swallowing them in just a few mouthfuls.

It made everyone’s scalp tingle to watch.

With teeth like that, he truly lived up to the name ”Superman.”

His cousin, Liu Junming, channeled his grief and indignation into his appetite, managing to eat an entire leg of lamb.

The question of why he hadn’t become Superman was written all over his face.

He Xiaotian looked at his cousin, who was burying his head in the meat, and thought to himself, ’If you ever awakened as some kind of superhuman,

’...it would probably be something related to being a clean freak.’

DING DONG!

A notification sound came from his messaging app. He opened it to take a look.

[A Real Man Never Looks Back at Explosions]: Bro, hurry over to Tuanjie Community on Haining Road. Those rich kids are all here. We’re just waiting on you.

[Call Me Grandpa]: Roger.

The admin of the supernatural chat group looked at the new nickname and really wanted to beat He Xiaotian to death.

He was ”Dad” this morning, so how did he become ”Grandpa” by tonight?

He said a word to his family, returned to his small room, and hoisted a box onto his shoulder before heading downstairs.

He couldn’t leave behind his most trusted weapon, the great iron hammer.

Taking both hammers would be too much trouble.

So he just brought one. He wouldn’t be able to wield one in each hand, but he could just swing it with both hands if he had to!

He didn’t drive his second-hand Audi because it had a minor issue when he was getting the registration done and he’d sent it for repairs.

He opened a ride-hailing app, casually requested a car, and stood by the side of the road to wait.

About five minutes later, a Bentley slowly drove up and stopped beside him. The driver then honked twice, signaling for him to get in.

”???”

He Xiaotian was a little confused. ’Shouldn’t it be a Volkswagen?’

”Bro, get in.”

The window rolled down, revealing a pale face.

The man was in his forties and looked like he had overindulged in debauchery.

Seeing this, He Xiaotian hoisted the wooden box from his feet and reached for the car door with his right hand.

’As long as it gets me to Haining Road, who cares!’

But the moment his hand touched the door, he realized something was wrong.

It was too light!

It didn’t have the texture of metal at all.

Instead, it felt like... paper?

PSSSH!

The Qi Force in his Dantian suddenly activated.

He Xiaotian’s skin quickly turned a shade of cyan.

VROOM!

The car’s engine roared to life. He stood there, dumbfounded. ’It ran away?’

Wait!

Why did the Bentley turn into a paper model?

He Xiaotian watched the car recede into the distance and slapped his forehead.

’So you’re an evil spirit!

’And here I was, worried about not being able to find any Experience Points!

’You actually dared to come right to my doorstep? You’ve got some nerve.’

He Xiaotian bent his knees, hoisted the great iron hammer that weighed over three hundred pounds, and shot forward.

His entire body seemed to transform into a bolt of lightning, rocketing toward the Bentley.

The straight-line speed of Eight Steps Chasing Cicada was incredibly fast, especially with its bonus to explosive power.

With his long legs, he could leap over ten meters in a single bound.

He left a clear footprint on the street with each step, a testament to his immense strength.

The middle-aged driver wiped away cold sweat that wasn’t there. He had only come out tonight to forage for food.

He never expected to run into such a tough customer.

He was using yin energy to maintain the car’s form, but the moment He Xiaotian’s hand touched the door...

...he felt his yin energy plummet!

If he hadn’t decisively driven away, any further delay would have likely resulted in his complete annihilation!

”I can’t just take random orders anymore. Good thing I’m a quick thinker.”

Then, he looked in his rearview mirror and saw a burly man carrying a person-sized box, rapidly closing in.

”...”

”Is that guy a monster?!”

He didn’t have enough yin energy to maintain the paper car’s appearance as a real one.

Wouldn’t a normal person run for their life upon seeing a paper-craft Bentley?

So what the hell was this guy who was chasing him?
