I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 252: Chapter 156: Shocking Appearance of a Waterspout (2)

Right on cue, a massive Giant Trevally leaped out of the water, swallowing a dead seabird floating on the surface in a single gulp.

The others were less affected, but Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao stared wide-eyed. A seagull wasn’t small, and the GT that had just swallowed it whole had to be at least a meter and a half long.

This was one of the game fish that anglers loved to catch most. It didn’t matter if it was valuable—as long as it put up a hell of a fight, that was enough.

Without a second thought, the two of them ran straight out of the cockpit, determined to land this big GT.

It was time to redeem themselves. They couldn’t let Gu Nan hog all the glory.

But judging by the activity, the fishing conditions seemed excellent, so Gu Nan and Yi Chen followed them out as well.

”Ah Nan, you already caught that huge Red Diamond Fish. You can’t compete with us for this one!” Wang Junhe said, instantly alarmed to see him join.

Guo Xiao quickly chimed in, ”Yeah, exactly!”

”Don’t worry, you guys go ahead and fish. I’m just here with Yi Chen to stock up,” Gu Nan said. He genuinely wasn’t interested in a big GT; they weren’t valuable.

Yi Chen felt the same; she was only interested in valuable fish.

But Wang Junhe’s and Guo Xiao’s expressions didn’t lighten. ’Even if he isn’t interested, we’re all still fishing in the same spot. What if he hooks it by ”accident”? Won’t they just end up taking the fish from us again?’ 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

But a moment later, Guo Xiao thought of a great idea.

”Ah Nan, how about this? If you hook a big fish, let me reel it in. I’ll trade you all the fish I catch myself for this one chance. The big fish will still be yours.”

”If it’s the big GT, of all the fish I catch after this, I’ll just take a small portion and you can have the rest. How’s that sound?”

Wang Junhe nodded. ’That’s a good idea. Since Guo Xiao suggested it first, I’ll let him have this chance. I’ll take the next one.’

Gu Nan didn’t agree to such a good offer immediately. He pondered for a moment, then a bright smile spread across his face, and he agreed without hesitation.

The reason for the pause was that he was consulting the game, asking if any special effects—like draining a fish’s stamina—would trigger if someone else used his rod.

The reply was that when someone else used them, his rods were merely extra durable and functioned like any other normal fishing rod. That’s why he agreed.

First, he set up a rod for Yi Chen. Since the predators had been drawn to the surface, he attached a float and baited the hook with mackerel.

He then switched to the Big Fatty lure on his Seven Star Rod. Gu Nan raised the rod and cast with all his might. The lure flew far into the distance with a WHOOSH, landing at least forty or fifty meters away.

It kicked up a small splash as it hit the water, undoubtedly catching the attention of many predators.

With bait fish scattered on the surface, predators were constantly striking the water. A splash here, a commotion there—it was clear the area was teeming with fish.

Gu Nan slowly turned the reel’s handle, making the Big Fatty swim through the water, its seductive movements designed to attract the predators’ attention.

In truth, Gu Nan wasn’t trying to catch that big GT. The fish was brutally strong. Don’t be fooled by its max length of 1.7 meters—it only weighed around 150 pounds.

But the difficulty of catching one was no less than that of a tuna or marlin weighing over 220 pounds. Moreover, the things were tireless, so brutish they didn’t know the meaning of rest.

WHIZZ—The line on the electric reel rod next to him suddenly went taut. Yi Chen frantically pressed the button to reel it in, exclaiming happily, ”Fish on! Fish on! The line’s coming in so slowly, I think it’s a big one!”

Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao sucked their teeth in frustration. This was giving them a headache. Gu Nan alone was enough to make them feel completely inadequate, and now here was another one.

They had already cast their own bait, but so far, they hadn’t gotten a single nibble.

Gu Nan watched this scene thoughtfully. ’Sure enough, when I’m not hunting for specific fish from the game map, bringing Yi Chen along is a great idea. Her luck seems to be pretty amazing, too.’

’Of course, this is her first real time fishing. It’s probably a combination of a beginner’s buff and a first-time-at-sea buff.’

The Big Fatty continued its arrogant swim on the surface. And which of the ruthless predators hunting below had a good temper?

Several nearby fish immediately changed course and charged toward this arrogant little lure, ready to teach it a lesson.

When it came to sea fishing, aside from a few species of bream, Gu Nan had rarely encountered a fish that didn’t bite aggressively.

And sure enough, he had only reeled in about twenty meters of line when a ferocious force shot up through the rod.

Gu Nan immediately yanked the rod upward, setting the hook firmly in the fish’s lip.

”...”

Seeing the deep bend in the rod and the strain on Gu Nan’s face, Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao were already numb to the sight. It was Yi Chen’s ”Amazing!” uttered with a hint of admiration, that made Gu Nan puff out his chest in pride.

Guo Xiao reeled in his own line, which still hadn’t gotten a bite, and scurried eagerly to Gu Nan’s side.

”Ah Nan...?”

”Brother Guo, are you sure you want this one? I don’t think it’s particularly big, and it’s definitely not that big GT!”

”Oh, is that so? How much do you think it weighs?”

”Maybe fifty or sixty pounds.”

”Never mind then. Call me when you hook a really big one!”

”You got it!”

Gu Nan called back his agreement. Seeing the fish thrashing about wildly, he worried it might tangle with the line from the adjacent electric reel, so he yanked hard to steer it away.

Probably pained by the sharp tug, an amberjack suddenly leaped out of the water before crashing back down with a SPLASH.

’Not bad, not bad,’ Gu Nan thought. ’A greater amberjack. That’s another three thousand yuan in the bag.’

Gu Nan was being extremely arrogant, already counting his money before he’d even landed the fish.

After a short while, Yi Chen’s fish was the first to be landed. It turned out to be a seventy- to eighty-centimeter yellowtail amberjack.

With that, they had collected all three of the great amberjack species. And while he hadn’t caught them all himself, there was no need to draw such a clear line between his catches and Yi Chen’s.

Another ten minutes or so later, he landed his greater amberjack. It was clearly a full size larger than the yellowtail.

A crewman accurately gaffed the fish and pulled up with both hands, but only managed to lift its upper body out of the water.

It took another crewman helping to finally heave the seventy-pound greater amberjack onto the deck, where they immediately bled it.

One catch leads to another. By now, Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao had also gotten bites and were busy fighting their own fish.

Gu Nan glanced back at them before casting the Big Fatty far out once more. ’A few thousand for a single fish,’ he thought. ’How could I not take advantage of this?’

This time, however, a violent pull yanked him forward a step as an enormous GT leaped out of the water.

Its body was even longer and wider than the one that had swallowed the seabird earlier—it was clearly a size bigger.

”Whoa, whoa, whoa! What a huge fish!”

Yi Chen was stunned for a moment before her shock turned to excitement.

By coincidence, Guo Xiao had just landed a small yellowtail of about fifteen pounds. He was just thinking how he’d finally caught something when he heard Yi Chen’s excited shout and ran over, forgetting all about his own fish.

”How big is it? How big? What kind of fish?”

”A big GT! I think it’s even bigger than the one we saw earlier!” Gu Nan knew what he had come for, and he was already starting to regret his promise. ’The pull from this fish is intense,’ he thought. ’This is one hell of a fight.’

”Ah Nan, you promised...” Guo Xiao was overjoyed to hear it was a big GT and looked at him with pleading eyes.

”Brother Guo, put on your fighting belt and get ready to take over.”

”Okay, okay, right away!”

Guo Xiao immediately put on the fighting belt, then returned to Gu Nan’s side and took hold of the rod.

Gu Nan slowly moved aside, gradually transferring the load.

”Holy shit!” The moment Gu Nan let go completely, Guo Xiao couldn’t handle the force at all. He slammed into the gunwale, his body pitching forward as the rod tip was yanked straight into the water.

Startled, Gu Nan quickly grabbed Guo Xiao’s fighting belt and yanked him backward.

With his help, Guo Xiao managed to lift the rod again, but his face was already flushed bright red, as if he’d been drinking bootleg liquor.

His breathing grew heavy, and in no time at all, he was panting. HUFF... PUFF...

By now, Wang Junhe had landed his own fish. He’d wanted to come over as soon as he heard Gu Nan had hooked a big one, but he’d been busy and had to wait.

Now, seeing his old friend struggling so badly, he immediately started jeering, ”You gonna make it, weakling? Want me to take over?”

Guo Xiao was in no state to pay him any mind. In fact, completely focused on fighting the fish, he hadn’t even heard the words ”weakling” or ”You gonna make it?”.
