Chapter 49: Chapter 49: A Little Surprise

Damon had grown closer to both Freya and the Wind Core Spirit.

The little Gale Seed had changed greatly.

It responded more often now.

It seemed to understand conversations.

When Damon laughed, it pulsed happily.

When Freya acted proudly, it pulsed excitedly.

And whenever the two played around, it would join them by swaying gently within its crystal shell.

Damon could tell.

It was close. Very close.

Just like Freya back then.

Something was missing.

An emotional push.

Freya had evolved because she wanted to protect him.

As for this little one...

Damon noticed something interesting.

It adored Freya.

No.

Perhaps adored wasn’t the right word.

It admired her.

Whenever Freya showed off her strength, the Gale Seed pulsed excitedly.

Whenever Freya slept, it stayed close to her.

Whenever Freya absorbed lightning ore, it quietly watched.

It was like a younger sibling looking up to an older sister.

Damon smiled.

”Interesting.”

”Looks like you really like her.”

Thump.

The Gale Seed pulsed happily.

Freya proudly raised her head.

”Kyu.”

Of course she liked being admired.

Soon after another cultivation session, Freya suddenly stopped.

Her ears twitched.

Then she stood up.

Damon looked over.

”Visitors?”

”Kyu.”

Freya nodded, while Damon smiled.

”Have fun.”

He almost pitied whoever had come this time.

Even the Wind Core Spirit pulsed excitedly.

Thump!

As if cheering her on.

Freya happily leaped toward the door.

Her favorite toys had finally returned.

But neither she nor Damon expected what happened next.

The treasure chamber door opened slightly.

And just as Freya stepped outside...

”NOW!”

A loud shout echoed.

Whoosh!

Large silver nets suddenly shot from every direction.

At the same time...

”Seal the escape routes!”

”Earth wall!”

”Wind bind!”

”Move!”

Several Elemental Arts activated together.

Stone walls rose.

Wind barriers formed.

Three warriors carrying strange shields rushed forward.

Archers waited behind.

Supporters activated treasures hanging around their necks.

And hidden among them were several men carrying anti-lightning relics.

Everything had been prepared beforehand.

This wasn’t greed anymore.

This was hunting.

Unfortunately... They underestimated her speed.

Whoosh!

Freya vanished.

The nets barely caught empty air.

Bang!

They crashed into each other instead.

”Damn it!”

”Too fast!”

”Second formation!”

Their reactions were quick.

Clearly, they had practiced.

Several wind users immediately redirected the nets.

Meanwhile, earth users raised pillars to limit her movements.

Archers released glowing arrows with various Elemental Arts.

Supporters activated treasures that weakened lightning.

Boom!

Freya’s lightning struck several people.

Yet unlike before, the attacks didn’t completely break their formation.

Some warriors endured it using defensive relics.

Others carried treasures that reduced the shock.

And healers immediately treated those who fell.

The families had truly put effort into this.

Inside the chamber, Damon nodded in approval.

”They really learned.”

”They deserve some praise.”

Outside, confidence filled the Elemental Users.

”Hahaha!”

”It’s working!”

”Corner her!”

”Don’t let her escape!”

”The spirit is ours!”

Several people grinned.

After suffering so much humiliation, they finally saw hope.

Meanwhile, Freya frowned.

She still hadn’t used any skill.

No afterimages.

No domain.

Nothing.

She simply fought normally while avoiding their attacks.

Even then, the pressure around her increased.

More and more attacks closed in.

Boom!

Stone pillars rose.

Whoosh!

Chains made of wind wrapped around her path.

Wind arrows flew toward her.

She narrowly avoided them, but another barge followed immediately.

And then another.

Freya’s ears flattened.

”Kyu!”

The pressure was becoming annoying.

Through their connection, she asked Damon for permission.

Just one command.

And she would end everything.

But Damon simply smiled.

”Not yet.”

Freya blinked.

Not yet?

Still she trusted him completely. So she endured.

Meanwhile, inside the chamber, the Wind Core Spirit had begun pulsing rapidly.

Thump.

Thump!

The wind around it grew restless.

Damon observed carefully.

His eyes brightened.

”It really worked.”

His gamble had worked.

He wasn’t simply watching Freya fight.

He had been waiting.

Waiting for this little one to experience emotions.

To worry.

To care.

To feel.

And right now... It was feeling fear.

Fear for Freya.

Outside, the battle became even fiercer.

”She’s slowing down!”

”Keep going!”

”Don’t give her time!”

A large spear formed from compressed earth shot forward.

At the same time, countless wind blades surrounded her.

A warrior with a capture relic smiled.

”We got her!”

Even Freya froze for a second.

Meanwhile, Inside the treasure chamber...

THUMP!!

The Gale Seed pulsed violently.

The entire room shook.

Wind suddenly exploded everywhere.

Whoooosh!

Damon’s hair fluttered wildly.

The countless Wind Ores around the room trembled.

The surrounding Aether surged.

And then...

Boom!

A huge gust surrounded the Gale Seed.

Light erupted.

The entire treasure chamber shook.

Damon smiled.

His eyes shining brightly.

”It finally happened.”

”It evolved.”

The shape hidden within the storm wasn’t clear yet.

But he didn’t need to see it.

He already knew.

Success.

At that same moment...

The newborn wind rushed out.

Whoooooosh!

Like a green comet.

Like a desperate cry.

Like someone running to protect the person most important to them.

And Damon, standing inside the room, simply smiled.

Because he knew.

Right now, A new companion had finally been born.

Meanwhile, Outside...

Freya’s eyes widened.

The Elemental Users froze.

And just before the dangerous attack could land...

BOOOOOOM!!

The violent gust finally exploded outward.

BOOOOM!

The entire ruined hall trembled.

Dust flew everywhere.

Wind roared violently, as it swept through the entire floating ruin.

”What?!”

”Ahhh!”

The Elemental Users who had carefully maintained their formation lost their footing immediately. Some slammed into the walls while others rolled across the broken stone floor.

Their traps.

Their formations.

Their preparations.

Everything was thrown into chaos in an instant.

Yet strangely enough...

Nobody could look away.

The scene before them was beautiful.

And terrifying.

Like witnessing something sacred.

Like staring directly at a storm.

And slowly...

The source of the wind revealed itself.

Damon’s eyes widened.

”So that’s your true form...”

The newly evolved spirit hovered in the air.

Its body was covered in soft white feathers mixed with pale green patterns that glowed gently.
