I Can Devour Spirits

Luan Jingfu and Sun Huang rode out of the city gate, traveling along the official road. The sky was just starting to lighten, and it was quiet outside the city, with the morning chill floating in the mountains and fields.

Sun Huang was at the Great Success Realm of the Inner Breath Fourth Level, while Luan Jingfu was a strong cultivator in the True Qi Realm. Both had become almost indifferent to the seasonal cold.

Sun Huang was a poor drinker, and having been heavily intoxicated by Luan Jingfu the previous night, he was still muddled atop his horse.

”Leader Sun, are you alright? Your drinking capacity is really quite poor!” Luan Jingfu looked at Sun Huang, chuckled, and said.

Sun Huang waved his hand while seated on the horse, saying, ”No problem, just a bit dizzy — it doesn’t affect the journey.”

At that moment, suddenly two dark figures darted out from the roadside wilds at lightning speed, weapons in hand, attacking the two on horseback!

Luan Jingfu was startled, shouted a warning, then grabbed his steel mace from his waist to strike at the copper hammer coming at him.

Awakened by Luan Jingfu’s shout, Sun Huang suddenly saw a saber light striking toward him. The saber light was so quick that the shadow of the saber formed together, like a silk band, slashing towards him.

Sun Huang pushed against the stirrups, using the force to backward leap from the horse, but the attacking saber light did not slow, remaining close behind him.

Luan Jingfu’s steel mace collided with the incoming copper hammer, producing a thud from the intersection of weapons, accompanied by a dull resonating sound of True Qi crashing.

Luan Jingfu and a thin black-clothed masked man simultaneously recoiled; Luan Jingfu fell from his horse, planted his feet on the ground, and retreated two steps before steadying himself, glaring coldly at the attacker. ”It’s the True Qi Realm!”

Meanwhile, Sun Huang, airborne, caught sight of the saber light about to reach him, drew his saber to block, but as soon as the weapons touched, he was sent flying with a explosive boom. In merely the blink of an eye, Sun Huang had been cut in half by the close saber light!

Blood and the undigested rancid food in his stomach splattered across the air!

The smell of blood and the nauseating stench of alcohol quickly permeated the cold atmosphere...

Luan Jingfu’s forehead twitched; in one encounter, the Inner Breath Great Success Sun Huang was killed — evidently, yet another True Qi Realm cultivator!

Luan Jingfu cursed inwardly, yet faced the attackers fiercely, saying, ”Gentlemen, I am the Chief Leader of the Yuan Shun Escort Agency. If there’s any offense to you, kindly enlighten me on the matter, so I can know why I die.”

But the two masked black figures did not respond, instead they raised their weapons and attacked from both sides.

Luan Jingfu’s nose flared with anger, he bellowed loudly, charging towards the hammer-wielding opponent, engaging in a fierce fight, with True Qi swirling all around, temporarily preventing the other from intervening.

The slender hammer-wielding attacker, seeing Luan Jingfu’s unmatched ferocity, hesitated, then leapt backwards twice to widen the gap.

Instead, the saber-wielder drew close, using a ghostly saber technique to engage with Luan Jingfu.

The saber-wielenr entangled Luan Jingfu with ghostly technique, while the hammer-wielder continued to harass from behind.

The copper hammer struck fiercely, forcing Luan Jingfu to evade, but each time he dodged, he suffered slash wounds; within mere seconds, his shoulder and forearm were cut, and blood stained through.

Luan Jingfu knew life hung by a thread; afraid to hesitate further, he suddenly bellowed, his eyes bulging and his veins exploding!

Luan Jingfu unleashed the Filthy Blood Divine Skill!

In the instant his veins burst, the wounds on his shoulder and forearm were woven with curling, writhing blood lines, and within just a breath, the injuries healed, skin smooth as before.

Luan Jingfu’s power surged suddenly, fiercely attacking the saber-wielder, ignoring the hammer-wielder’s strike from behind, instead using the Filthy Blood Divine Skill to gather and resist with floating blood threads.

Luan Jingfu’s original strength, enhanced by the Filthy Blood Divine Skill, pressured the masked saber-wielder into retreat; on the verge of collapse.

”Xiao Nan, Filthy Blood Divine Skill!” The masked hammer-wielder suddenly shouted.

Subsequently, Luan Jingfu saw his opponent’s saber-wielder erupt with blood threads across his body, like aquatic plants flowing...

Luan Jingfu’s breath halted, his mind momentarily blank.

Yu Lieting hadn’t anticipated Luan Jingfu’s fierce vigor, initially instructing Xiao Nan not to use Filthy Blood Divine Skill, believing their combined True Qi Realm strength over Luan would be more than enough.

Xiao Nan’s face gathered blood red swiftly, blocking Luan Jingfu’s strike, then stood ready with saber.

At this time, Yu Lieting no longer concealed himself, likewise erupting blood threads across his body.

Luan Jingfu looked at them, eyes clouding with deep confusion, trembled in voice: ”As fellow cultists of Filthy Blood Holy Sect, why kill each other?”

Yu Lieting said, ”Luan Jingfu, Wei Yutian revealed you, you’re exposed! Besides, your son is in Shen Yanliu’s hands. For our sect’s branch safety, you must die!”

”What? Wei Yutian? Bao’er...” Luan Jingfu’s expression changed multiple times, thoughts churning in his heart.

But, Yu Lieting and Xiao Nan had already joined forces against him!

The three figures adorned with floating blood threads fought wildly together in the wilderness, akin to demons dancing madly...

Luckily, in the cold morning of the twelfth lunar month outside the town, the fields were devoid of people. Such a bizarre, terrifying scene — had it been witnessed by the straightforward villagers, wouldn’t they be haunted with nightmares? They’d surely think demons had crawled from hell, battling ferociously!

The three had all unleashed their Filthy Blood Divine Skill, and Luan Jingfu quickly lost an arm.

Luan Jingfu merely invoked the Filthy Blood Divine Skill to heal the wound, not restore the arm, his consumption considerable, face pale as paper.

Yu Lieting crushed one of Luan Jingfu’s arms, yet he too was greatly spent, his forehead layered with dense sweat; surprised by Luan Jingfu’s bloodthirsty courage!

”Indeed a warrior of fierce bravery!”

Though one-armed, pale-faced, with steel mace in hand, Luan Jingfu’s gaze remained fierce: ”Are you with the Jiuchong County branch?”

Yu Lieting’s eyes shifted; he was indeed the Jiuchong County squad leader, but evidently unwilling to answer, said: ”Luan Jingfu, we’re killing you to clean the house for Ruan Fengshan. You’ve exposed yourself, and being captured by Shen Yanliu, who can guarantee you won’t betray fellow branch brothers?”

”No need for such righteous talk; who lives and who dies is uncertain!” Luan Jingfu attacked Yu Lieting again, this time adopting a suicidal approach.

Yu Lieting, being a seasoned squad leader, having faced numerous life-and-death situations, knew in times like these one mustn’t panic. Luan Jingfu was already at his limits, merely clinging to a single breath; as long as he remained calm and survived this wave of attack, it would be the end for Luan Jingfu.

Under Luan Jingfu’s fierce assault, Yu Lieting steadfastly defended; although pressured into continuous retreat, his defense remained methodical, seeing Luan Jingfu’s attacks growing weaker.

Just as Luan Jingfu’s attacks waned, Xiao Nan suddenly seized the opportunity, slicing off Luan Jingfu’s head!

Luan Jingfu’s head flew up, no blood spilled, the severed neck writhing with countless blood threads, intertwining like worms!

Luan Jingfu’s head landed in the middle of the official road, rolled several times, covered in dust. His face held no trace of blood color, eyes blinked blankly, murmuring lowly: ”...Bao’er, you must live...live...”
