I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: The Starting Point

Xu Ruhu still thought that Jie Lei repeatedly questioned him, wanting him to hand over the cultivation technique of the last four levels!

Seeing that it didn’t work, then he set up this situation, having his trusted confidants pose as villains to blind his eyes!

Once he was blind, it would be easier to deceive him!

That little thief Jie Lei might even stage a scene of killing and saving him, it’s not impossible!

Actually, it’s understandable Xu Ruhu had such thoughts!

In his view, unless Jie Lei actively informed that person, otherwise no one could find this place in such a short time!

Xu Ruhu laughed on the ground and said, ”How many years have I mixed in the Jianghu? Am I so easily humiliated? The more you act like this, the less I will give you the cultivation techniques of the last four levels! If you dare, just kill me! You blood-sucking vermin!”

Xu Ruhu’s eyes have already started oozing black pus-like blood, that poison needle Duan Rong had laced with poison!

”Fine!” Duan Rong suddenly spoke, ”Since you want to die, then I’ll send you on your way!”

Duan Rong drew his Cow Tail Saber with a swoosh, then his figure flashed, when he steadied, the saber was already at Xu Ruhu’s throat.

Xu Ruhu, eyes oozing pus, sneered coldly, ”Come on! Cut off my head! I’ve been damn sick of living for a long time!”

Xu Ruhu looked arrogant, because he believed this person in front of him was nothing more than Jie Lei’s henchman, who dared not kill him!

Moreover, could Jie Lei resist the temptation of the back four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture?

Fetal Concealment Scripture! The supreme treasure of Taiyi Sect, Xu Ruhu didn’t believe anyone could be unmoved!

Didn’t he use the first four levels to incite Jie Lei to break him out of the Great Prison?

The face under Duan Rong’s mask was as cold as stone, without a shred of hesitation, suddenly the saber plunged into Xu Ruhu’s heart!

Xu Ruhu felt the pain, the madness on his face faded, he immediately realized his heart was pierced, he clutched his chest and rolled on the ground, knowing he was about to die, the primitive fear of death engulfed him, and he pleaded in a shrill voice, ”Save me! Save me! I still have the last four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture in my hand, doesn’t Jie Lei always want them? I’ll tell you where they are? Save me... I’ll tell you now where they are...”

Duan Rong at this time, had already retreated to the corner, he did not intend to tell Xu Ruhu that he was never sent by Jie Lei!

He never thought he could get the last four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture from Xu Ruhu.

Xu Ruhu was already a cripple, he could stay alive, only because he had the last four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture.

Duan Rong believed, Xu Ruhu himself must also deeply understand this point!

The last four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture in his hand, equated to his life, once he hands them over, it’s death!

How could he be willing to hand them over?

Jie Lei might still be thinking to slowly grind him down, or considering using some method to trick him into handing them over!

But, Duan Rong at this time, simply did not have that time!

Moreover, Xu Ruhu’s death, in the action plan, was already a certain matter!

With Xu Ruhu’s death as the starting point, is when this action plan truly begins!

Duan Rong at this moment, finally reached the starting point of this action plan!

From his time in the cramped dormitory at Yuan Shun Escort Agency, deducing the plan, he affirmed one thing, that Jie Lei was far more dangerous than Xu Ruhu!

Although Xu Ruhu was a cunning villain, he had been imprisoned for nearly two months after all, tortured for so long, he was half-dead, at most, he was just lingering on the brink.

But Jie Lei was different.

Duan Rong repeatedly deduced, always unable to discern, how Jie Lei appeared in the dungeon to rescue Xu Ruhu after clearly leaving?

This might indicate that Jie Lei possessed some uncommon, an unfathomable method!

Jie Lei went to the government office before dawn today, Shen Yanliu upon arriving at the office this morning, ordered Jie Daohan to open the city gates today!

The four city gates have been closed for two days, if they’re kept shut, if the case can’t be broken, other issues will ferment!

Jie Daohan had no choice, the higher official has more authority, not to mention, he had searched the entire city, but to no avail, not even a single useful clue!

Keeping the city gates closed would indeed spark conflicts, so he could only increase manpower, to strictly inspect travelers!

Jie Daohan pondered repeatedly, always felt, this issue seemed to be the work of hidden experts among several major forces!

Do ordinary forces possess such capability?

Therefore, he selected a few capable officers among the constables, sending them to monitor the movements of each major force!

Jie Lei, as Jie Daohan’s nephew, and his martial arts realm in the Inner Breath Realm Second Level, such tasks naturally couldn’t miss him.

His object of surveillance was Yuan Shun Escort Agency!

At this time, it was already late at night, the shops on West Main Street had mostly closed.

On the roof of a tile house across the street from the back gate of Yuan Shun Escort Agency, Jie Lei along with two constables, dressed in night clothes, were lying there keeping watch...

”I don’t know who the damn jailbreaker is! Making brothers suffer! If I catch that scoundrel, I’ll castrate him!” one of the short, skinny constables yawned and complained.

”Isn’t that right? In the middle of the night, blowing wind here, is this any life for humans?” another constable complained too.

Jie Lei lay there, his eyes fixed on the backyard of Yuan Shun Escort Agency, suddenly turned his head, angrily saying, ”Enough, keep quiet for a bit!”

The two constables were slightly taken aback, usually, Jie Lei had a good temper, never bothering them about complaints, often joining them in their laments, so although Jie Lei was Jie Daohan’s nephew, they were not distant from him.

But today, what was up?

Something seemed unusual, perhaps just in a bad mood! The two small constables thought.

Jie Lei suddenly stood up, said, ”You two keep an eye here, I’ll go patrol around nearby.”

”Brother Lei, you go on, leave this to us!”

Jie Lei nodded, jumped off the rooftop, his figure vanished in the night!

He was not actually planning to patrol, but was preparing to visit home!

After all, today saw new developments in the city, the gates had opened!

Though entry was strictly checked, at least one could leave the city!

He took advantage of this, preparing a new argument, intending to try again to wheedle some words from Xu Ruhu.

Jie Lei took advantage of the night, returned to his secluded rundown courtyard.

He stood in the middle of the courtyard as usual, observing before opening the central hall’s door!

In the gloomy darkness, he looked at the ground near the hall’s entrance, seeing the fluorescent powder still evenly glowing, without any signs of being stepped on.

Jie Lei’s figure leapt, crossing this area, once again checked the inner rooms and windows on the east and west sides, finding everything as usual, finally relaxed a bit.

This was his daily routine, always believing that caution led to safe passage!

After checking these, Jie Lei then stood in the courtyard, looking towards the dry well beside the courtyard wall.

His eyebrows could not help but twist into a knot, Xu Ruhu that old scoundrel was really difficult to deal with, wanting to extract any information from him was akin to snatching meat from a wild dog’s mouth.

However, he could wait!

He had plenty of patience!

The last four levels of the Fetal Concealment Scripture, he was determined to obtain!
