I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Cloud Serpent Step

Zhu Xiaoqi looked at the item Duan Rong handed over, slightly stunned, and curiously asked, ”What’s inside?”

”I don’t know what to buy! Just bought some osmanthus cakes and preserves on the street.”

Zhu Xiaoqi looked at Duan Rong’s face illuminated by the fire, the flames in the stove danced in Duan Rong’s eyes as bright as stars...

Zhu Xiaoqi reached out to take the items from Duan Rong’s hands and placed them on the stove.

Then Zhu Xiaoqi turned around, wiped his hands on the apron at his waist, lifted the pot lid, picked up six steaming buns with dried lotus leaves, and stuffed them to Duan Rong, saying, ”The buns were just steamed this afternoon, take them back to eat!”

Holding the buns, Duan Rong salivated and glanced at Zhu Xiaoqi, saying, ”Xiaoqi, I’m heading back!”

Zhu Xiaoqi sat on the small stool, adding firewood to the stove, not responding to him.

Duan Rong then turned and left on his own.

He had only walked a couple of steps when he couldn’t help but grab one bun and take a bite.

Sour and spicy bean stuffing, with sesame oil, instantly bringing a feeling of satisfaction from his taste buds...

Duan Rong was devouring the bun when Zhu Xiaoqi suddenly called from behind, ”You silly boy, come back!”

With the bun in his mouth, Duan Rong ran back, thinking Zhu Xiaoqi had something to tell him, and asked, ”What is it?”

Zhu Xiaoqi, seated on the stool with his right foot raised, took off the silver bracelet from his chubby little foot and held it in his hand, saying, ”Didn’t you want to see this bracelet?”

Duan Rong smiled, only then remembering this matter.

With hands greasy from the buns, he directly grabbed the silver bracelet.

By the firelight, he saw the surface of the silver bracelet embossed with Cloud Dragon pattern and inscribed with the words wealth and harmony.

Duan Rong blinked, his breath tightened slightly, thinking inside, ”Read the Artifact Spirit!”

Suddenly, a set of data appeared before Duan Rong.

Artifact: Cloud Dragon Pattern Silver Foot Bracelet

Artifact Spirit Level: Unranked

Devouring Requirements: None

Devouring Effect: Entry Level Cloud Serpent Step.

Upon seeing the devouring effect, Duan Rong was slightly stunned, it appeared Xiaoqi’s Cloud Serpent Step was merely Entry Level.

”Devour,” Duan Rong did not hesitate, silently chanting within himself.

After devouring was completed, Duan Rong handed Zhu Xiaoqi’s silver foot bracelet back.

Zhu Xiaoqi paused and asked, ”You’ve seen it already?”

Duan Rong nodded, feeling uncomfortable in his head after devouring the Artifact Spirit, his expression somewhat dazed.

Zhu Xiaoqi snatched back the bracelet, shouting, ”You fool!”

Then immediately put the silver bracelet back on his foot.

Raising his head again, Duan Rong had already left the kitchen, Zhu Xiaoqi tilted his body, looking through the kitchen door, watching as Duan Rong’s silhouette disappeared at the courtyard gate in the twilight.

Zhu Xiaoqi then turned around, breaking a piece of firewood into three sections, and stuffed it into the stove.

The glowing fire in the stove illuminated Zhu Xiaoqi’s face, her lips as fresh as lychee curved slightly, murmuring to herself, ”Silly... silly boy...”

Because Duan Rong wanted to digest the devoured Artifact Spirit, he directly returned to the dormitory, eating while walking, and finished the six buns wrapped in dried lotus leaves by the time he reached the dormitory.

He wiped his greasy hands on a towel, then directly laid down on the bed and fell sound asleep!

In his dreams...

Duan Rong saw on the ground of a courtyard, it was as if more than ten black circles were drawn with charcoal, scattered in a peculiar and mysterious arrangement.

A pair of small crescent-shaped chubby feet danced back and forth between the black circles, moving faster and more variably...

Then the scene seemed to change...

Still the same feet and waist...

But this time it was on many scattered, uneven wooden stakes, those little feet seemed to have magical power, jumping swiftly between the stakes, moving quickly with ghostly agility...

Gradually, there began to be... a trace of afterimage...

Not knowing how long it lasted before the scene changed again...

There seemed to be a pond, lotus blooms floating, water droplets on the lotus leaves like silver beans...

The pair of chubby pink feet were jumping back and forth on the lotus leaves...

The little pink feet scattered the water droplets on the lotus leaves, but after a shake of the leaves, the scattered drops gathered again...

In the dream, Duan Rong didn’t marvel at the advanced lightweight skill; he was merely mesmerized by the chubby little feet dancing between the sunlit lotus leaves, like koi playing among the lotuses, so captivating!

Duan Rong actually laughed in his sleep...

Three hours later, Duan Rong suddenly woke up.

Immediately jumping off the bed, he had forgotten about those chubby little feet.

At this moment, excitement flickered in Duan Rong’s eyes.

”This Cloud Serpent Step is not just a lightweight skill, it’s a body technique!”

Just from the switching of the three scenes, it was clear how challenging this martial arts skill was to cultivate.

Though Duan Rong had just digested the Artifact Spirit, he felt a sudden itch to test this lightweight skill that excelled in quick movements and spatial agility in this small room.

The Martial Arts Arena was spacious, but if someone saw him executing the Cloud Serpent Step technique, wouldn’t it lead to further trouble?

Duan Rong, in the narrow dormitory, started stepping through the Cloud Serpent Step techniques slowly at first, but after once, twice...

Involuntarily, he sped up!

Gradually, Duan Rong’s silhouette began to show a hint of afterimage...

Because he had already digested the Artifact Spirit and achieved the Cloud Serpent Step Realm, at that moment, he accidentally demonstrated it...

Just as he demonstrated it, there was a loud bang as he crashed into the wall!

Duan Rong grimaced, suddenly sitting down, feeling a sharp pain on his forehead...

Soon, a rustling noise from the room next door, followed by the drowsy voice of the accounting apprentice: ”Brother Rong, careful with your health at this late hour...”

Duan Rong rubbed his forehead, sitting on the ground without making a sound, knowing any explanation now would only make it worse!

Once there was silence from next door, Duan Rong stood up.

His forehead was already slightly swollen; he guessed it would swell into a big bump!

”Better not practice for now, making too much noise at night, disturbing the peace...”

Since the Cloud Serpent Step couldn’t be practiced, Duan Rong went to the well to freshen up, before heading to the Martial Arts Arena for stance training.

After breakfast, Duan Rong returned to the dormitory.

By then, most of the dormitory residents had already left.

Those scheduled to attend roll call went, those in martial arts training did their training; who would linger in this narrow, dark dormitory during the day? That would make them like mice!

Thus, Duan Rong ensured the doors and windows were closed, then started moving with agility in the constrained dormitory.

Duan Rong’s figure grew faster, eventually resembling an apparition...

Initially, jumping back and forth on the ground, beds...

An hour later, he could walk on the ceiling by stepping on the walls, although after a few steps, he’d have to detour down the other side of the walls...

Even so, it was frightening enough, and this was just the entry-level Cloud Serpent Step!

Throughout the entire day, Duan Rong practiced the Cloud Serpent Step in that narrow, dark dormitory.

Until 3 p.m., just before it was time to go out and sketch, Duan Rong finally stopped his motion, cleaned off his sweat by the well, and hurriedly packed his tools, heading to the crooked-necked willow tree on West Main Street...
