His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1376: Chapter 389: To Love Only One Person in a Lifetime (10)

”Don’t want your job anymore?”

Mu Yichen looked at them coldly, mercilessly reminding them.

The three female employees were stunned, and the girl holding the pen intended for Mu Yichen instinctively withdrew the pen.

”Sorry! We shouldn’t have disturbed Boss Mu’s meal!”

The three girls lowered their heads to apologize to Mu Yichen, feeling aggrieved but none dared to act out, obediently lining up with their trays to leave.

After they left, Mu Yichen glanced around again, noticing the other employees mocking the three girls, and furrowed his brows unintentionally.

This kind of thing wasn’t happening for the first time, but it was rare.

The three girls were uncomfortable being watched, feeling they’ve lost face terribly.

Some colleagues were even taking photos of them with their phones, the three girls urged each other to leave quickly.

”Whoever took pictures just now, delete them yourself, if it leaks out, immediate dismissal.”

Mu Yichen sat there relaxedly, one hand resting on the table, fingers gently tapping the surface, appearing composed yet gazing with a powerful deterrent look at the cheerful male employee taking photos.

Instantly, the three girls didn’t feel so embarrassed anymore! The ones taking photos immediately put their phones down and started deleting them with heads lowered.

Only then did Mu Yichen look at his plate of food, which had gone completely cold! He stood up! His tall and straight silhouette gradually walked away under countless eyes!

——

After the lunch incident, Jiang Zhiyuan came to Mu Yichen’s office to have tea in the afternoon. As he stepped out of the elevator, he heard some strange noises behind him, thinking to himself that he should tell Xiaomu about it, given their close relationship.

Jiang Zhiyuan greeted Xi Meng at the office door, and Xi Meng said, ”Go on in, just brewed a new pot of tea, been waiting for you.”

”Oh? Is Brother Yichen being generous today? Is there a trap?”

Lately, Jiang Zhiyuan had been playful to the point of forgetting who he was, making him apprehensive.

”You’ll find out inside!”

Xi Meng was initially surprised by his response, but then thought, even if it’s a trap, it’s a well-intentioned one for you.

Jiang Zhiyuan was rather obedient, nodded and went in first.

Mu Yichen was on a work call with Qin Haiming. When he saw Jiang Zhiyuan enter, he gestured to the sofa for him to sit first, then joined him after finishing the call.

”Getting so formal when talking to your father-in-law?”

”Do you think it’s just a father-in-law?”

Mu Yichen leaned over to pour him tea, Jiang Zhiyuan looked at his earnest demeanor and couldn’t resist bantering, ”I just sent a WeChat to Xiaomu?”

”Can’t you find someone else to talk to when you have something on your mind? Must you confide in Xiaomu?”

Mu Yichen couldn’t bear how Jiang Zhiyuan always vented to Qin Mu when he was upset.

”Hehe! This time, I can only tell her!”

Jiang Zhiyuan chuckled mischievously, glancing at Mu Yichen with roguish eyes.

Mu Yichen’s dark eyes swiftly turned towards him.

”I heard in the elevator that several female employees asked for your autograph? I’m just guarding Xiaomu, what if those employees take advantage of being close? With Xiaomu far away from you, don’t you think?”

Jiang Zhiyuan laughed, watching Mu Yichen’s gaze become more twisted, yet he took the teapot from Mu Yichen’s hand, saying, ”Hehe, let me pour tea for you, how can Brother Yichen pour tea for his younger brother.”

Mu Yichen released the teapot, slowly sat upright, his face growing colder.

”What exactly did you say you texted Qin Mu?”

Mu Yichen questioned him calmly but skeptically.

Jiang Zhiyuan’s hand shook as he poured tea, almost spilling, looking up, he noticed Mu Zong’s eyes saying four words, ’Defy me and perish!’

”I’m joking, hehe! How could I send that kind of message to Xiaomu, I just overheard some gossip in the elevator and was messing around with you!”

Jiang Zhiyuan was terribly anxious, gently put down the teapot, thinking this pot of tea wasn’t his fortune, given Brother Yichen’s current demeanor, as if ready to toss him out.

”What’s all this joking about?”

Qiao Yi walked in holding some documents, acting as though he was there for work, conveniently bumping into them, but as soon as he entered, he felt the atmosphere was off; Mu Zong looked cold, while Jiang Zhiyuan was jittery.

”What’s going on here?”

Qiao Yi sat down nearby and turned his head, looking at both of them, very confused.

”Haha! Just joking around with Brother Yichen!”

Jiang Zhiyuan explained to Qiao Yi with some guilt.
