Harem Master: Seduction System

Chapter 55: Offers Of Mage Associations

As the crowd began to disperse from the dueling grounds, Alaric made his way back to his dorm. The adrenaline that had fueled him during the battles was now fading, replaced by a whirlwind of thoughts. His mind raced with the events of the day—the duel, his victory, and the realization of what it all meant. He had dominated the battle, leaving no room for doubt about his capabilities.

But with that triumph came the weight of consequences, rippling far beyond what he could see.

Back in the quiet solitude of his dorm, Alaric closed the door and leaned against it. His heart still beat a little faster than normal, not from exhaustion but from the sheer magnitude of what had transpired.

He knew his name would spread not only within the academy but beyond its walls, carried on the tongues of witnesses and written in the whispers of those eager for tales of rising stars.

His victory over Darius and his group was not just a personal triumph—it was a statement, and the world had taken notice.

In the days that followed, Alaric’s name became an icon within the Verdant Dawn Academy.

Wherever he went, students whispered his name, their voices tinged with awe and admiration.

Some spoke of his talent, others of his fearlessness, but all agreed on one thing: Alaric had cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with. Professors, too, joined the chorus of recognition.

Discussions in faculty lounges revolved around his potential, and lectures sometimes included references to his innovative magical techniques.

However, Alaric’s fame did not stop at the academy’s gates. News of his duel spread rapidly, reaching beyond the confines of the institution.

In distant cities and even neighboring kingdoms, tales of the prodigy from Verdant Dawn Academy were told and retold.

Letters began arriving daily, sealed with the insignias of prestigious mage guilds and influential associations.

Representatives from organizations like the Golden Raven Guild, the Arcane Order, and the Mystic Circle visited the academy, eager to meet Alaric and secure his loyalty.

Even the Mage’s Tower, a powerful institution under the Royal Family’s control, sent envoys to observe his progress, their interest palpable.

Alaric’s desk, once reserved for books and parchment, was now cluttered with invitations and proposals.

Offers poured in, each more tempting than the last. High-ranking positions, scholarships for advanced studies, and even personal mentorships from renowned mages were laid at his feet.

Yet, despite the flood of opportunities, a sense of uncertainty gnawed at him. He had always been confident in his abilities, but the weight of these decisions left him feeling adrift.

One evening, Alaric sat in his dorm, the faint glow of a magical orb casting soft light over the letters spread out before him.

He picked up one from the Mystic Circle, its elegant script promising access to ancient libraries and rare artifacts.

Another, from the Golden Raven Guild, boasted of riches and influence that could rival even the nobility. Still, his hand faltered as he set them back down.

The choices before him felt monumental, their implications stretching far into a future he could barely grasp.

A knock at the door broke his reverie. ”Come in,” he called, his voice steady despite the storm in his mind.

The door opened to reveal Natasha, Irene, Lea, and Tess, their expressions a mix of excitement and trepidation.

Natasha was the first to speak. ”Alaric, you’ve got the whole academy talking. We had to come and see for ourselves.” She gestured to the pile of letters. ”And it looks like they weren’t exaggerating.”

Lea nodded, her voice soft. ”We’re so proud of you, Alaric. But... does this mean you’ll be leaving?”

Alaric looked at his friends, their faces illuminated by the gentle light. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.

”I don’t know yet,” he admitted, running a hand through his hair. ”There’s so much to consider. Every offer has its own appeal, but I can’t help feeling like I’m not ready to leave Verdant Dawn. There’s still so much to learn.”

Tess looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. ”It’s just... hard to think about you not being here. You’re like the glue that holds us all together.”

Irene stepped closer, her green eyes filled with concern. ”No matter what you decide, Alaric, we’ll support you. Just don’t forget about us when you’re out there conquering the world.”

Natasha laughed, though there was a hint of sadness in her tone. ”Yeah, don’t let some fancy guild or noble court steal you away completely. You owe us at least a few visits.”

Alaric smiled, their words warming a part of him that had felt cold and uncertain. ”You’re not getting rid of me that easily,” he said. ”No matter where I go, you’ll always be my friends.”

Even with their reassurances, Alaric found himself no closer to a decision. As the days passed, the weight of expectation grew heavier. Every letter, every visitor, seemed to pull him in a different direction, each promising a future as bright as the stars.

One quiet evening, as he sat once again at his desk, the soft knock of opportunity came, though not in the form he expected. ”Come in,” he said, half-distracted as he shuffled through another stack of correspondence.

The door opened, and Professor Amelia Lyon stepped in, her presence filling the room with a calming warmth.

”Good evening, Alaric,” she said, her voice soft but firm. ”I hope I’m not intruding.”

Alaric immediately straightened, gesturing to the chair across from him. ”Not at all, Professor Lyon. Please, have a seat.”

She took the offered chair, her eyes briefly scanning the sea of letters. A small smile played on her lips. ”It seems you’ve become quite popular,” she said, her tone light yet tinged with pride.

Alaric chuckled, though it lacked his usual confidence. ”You could say that. It’s a bit overwhelming, to be honest.”

Professor Lyon leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. ”I can imagine. These are life-changing decisions, and it’s not easy to navigate them at your age—or at any age, for that matter.”

Alaric looked at her, his expression conflicted. ”How do I even begin to choose? Every path seems like it could lead to something incredible, but... I don’t feel ready. It’s like I’m standing at the edge of a cliff, and I’m afraid to jump.”

Her smile softened, and she placed a reassuring hand on his arm. ”That feeling is natural, Alaric. But let me tell you something: there’s no single right path. Each choice you make will shape your journey in its own way. The important thing is to listen to yourself. What do you want? What feels true to you?”

Alaric’s gaze dropped to the letters, her words resonating in his mind. ”I think... I think I want to stay. As much as these offers excite me, I know there’s still so much I don’t know. My magic is strong, but my control isn’t where it should be. And if I go out into the world unprepared, I won’t just fail—I’ll fall short of what I want to become.”

Professor Lyon nodded, her expression filled with understanding. ”Then you’ve already made your decision, Alaric. There’s no shame in choosing to grow stronger before stepping into the wider world. In fact, it’s one of the wisest decisions you could make.”

Her words brought a sense of clarity that Alaric hadn’t felt in days. He looked up at her, a small but genuine smile forming on his lips. ”Thank you, Professor. You always know what to say.”

She laughed softly, standing to leave. ”That’s what I’m here for. But remember, Alaric, this is your journey. Trust yourself, and you’ll find the right path.”

The next morning, Alaric began writing letters of polite rejection to the various organizations that had reached out to him.

Each letter was carefully worded, expressing gratitude for their interest while explaining his desire to continue his studies at Verdant Dawn.

As he sent off the last letter, a sense of relief washed over him.

For the first time in days, the storm in his mind had settled.

Over the following weeks, Alaric threw himself into his training and studies with renewed vigor.

He sought out his professors, asking for guidance and advanced lessons. He worked on refining his control, pushing his limits while honing his precision.

And though the world outside the academy buzzed with tales of his potential, Alaric remained focused on becoming the mage he knew he could be.

For now, Verdant Dawn was where he belonged.

The world could wait.

The days at the Verdant Dawn Academy had settled into a comfortable yet challenging rhythm for Alaric. His mornings were dedicated to grueling physical training, his afternoons immersed in complex spellcasting sessions, and his evenings spent sparring with friends or delving into the depths of magical tomes in the library. The demands were unrelenting, but Alaric thrived under the pressure. His once-raw potential was sharpening into something extraordinary, his progress evident in both his skills and confidence.

One particularly exhausting afternoon, Alaric returned to his dorm. His clothes were damp with sweat, his muscles sore from the day’s exercises. Tossing his bag onto his bed, he noticed a letter sitting on his desk. The elegant seal of the Steele Family was pressed into the wax, its familiar crest sparking a flicker of excitement. Breaking the seal carefully, Alaric unfolded the parchment, his mother’s graceful handwriting bringing a smile to his lips.

As he began reading, his voice filled the small dormitory room, the words sounding foreign and yet deeply personal.

”My dearest Alaric,

”I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to share some extraordinary news with you. Over the past few weeks, we have received numerous gifts from various Mage Associations—each one more lavish and valuable than the last. It seems your reputation has spread far and wide, and these associations are eager to secure your allegiance.”

Alaric paused, eyebrows raised in disbelief. He continued reading aloud, his voice tinged with amazement.

”The Golden Raven Guild sent a chest filled with rare and powerful magical artifacts, including a Phoenix Feather Cloak that grants its wearer enhanced agility and resistance to fire, and a Dragonscale Shield that can withstand even the most potent magical attacks. They also included a vial of Elixir of Vitality, a potion said to greatly enhance one’s magical energy and stamina.”

”The Arcane Order presented us with an ancient grimoire, the Tome of Eternal Wisdom, which contains spells and incantations lost to time. Alongside the grimoire, they sent a Staff of Elemental Mastery, a powerful artifact that allows its wielder to control all four elements with ease. For me, they sent a rare elixir known as the Limit Breaking Elixir. If I were to consume this elixir, I believe that I could break through my current limits and reach the rank of a Master Martialist.”

”The Mystic Circle, not to be outdone, gifted us with a Crystal of Divination, a powerful tool that allows its user to see glimpses of the future, and a Ring of Protection, which creates a barrier around its wearer, deflecting both physical and magical attacks. They also sent a set of Enchanted Armor, said to be imbued with the power of ancient runes, granting its wearer enhanced strength and endurance.”

Alaric let out a low whistle, his ruby-red eyes scanning the page. ”They’re not holding back, are they?” he muttered to himself before continuing.

”I must admit, Alaric, I was taken aback by the generosity and value of these gifts. It is clear that these associations hold your talent in high regard and are willing to go to great lengths to secure your loyalty. I have placed these gifts in the family vault for safekeeping until you return home.”

”I am proud of the path you have chosen, Alaric. Your decision to continue your studies and hone your skills at the academy is a testament to your dedication and wisdom. These gifts are a reminder of the potential that lies within you, and I have no doubt that you will continue to grow and excel in your pursuits.”

”Take care, my dear, and remember that your family is always here to support you.”

”With all my love,

Mother”

Finishing the letter, Alaric let it fall onto his desk, leaning back in his chair. His mind churned with a mixture of emotions: pride, excitement, and a hint of apprehension. Even after turning down their offers, these organizations were still lavishing him with gifts. What did they see in him that warranted such extravagance?

And what did it mean for his future?

The weeks that followed were a blur of training and study, but something had shifted within Alaric.

His mother’s words, coupled with the gifts’ significance, ignited a fresh determination. He poured himself into his studies with renewed vigor, practicing spells with meticulous precision and devouring books on advanced magical theory. His professors began to notice the change.

More than once, they noticed that his understanding of magic was rivaling even their own in some areas.
