Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Chapter 2080: The Frustrated City Lord

Brick building

When Zero finished the explanation, I gained a better understanding of the shady network. It appeared this shady business had been going on for a long time.

It could be one of the income sources of Magic Lord Duncan. Many did difficult missions to earn magic resources, but there were also others who did business to earn resources.

After gaining some clarity, I thanked the zero puppet. I thought of taking the zero puppet along with me, but then I rejected the idea.

I still didn’t know what Magic Lord Conrad of this city was up to. Since he understood that someone had entered the city, why didn’t he tell the public about it?

There was something more to it. So, before getting clear information, I decided to deal with the situation alone. Then I put the zero puppet back in the Gregor Mansion.

Then I put the storage device into my storage bracelet. The evidence would be helpful in the future. Next, I took the map outside and viewed the next marked location.

The other locations were far apart from each other. I decided to visit the hideout opposite this location.

I put away the map before exiting the brick building. Then I went to the main street. I didn’t immediately go to the next location.

I wanted to know what City Lord Conrad and the other officials were up to. I didn’t believe they were ignoring the intruder.

So I went to a nearby restaurant, which was crowded. I walked through the crowd and managed to order food.

Then I found a bench to sit down. I began to overhear the conversations.

Time passed.

I didn’t find any useful information. By the time I could hear anything useful, the order had arrived. So I began to enjoy the food.

...

Meanwhile,

In the City Lord’s Office, City Lord Conrad was sitting behind the desk. Just now, he got the update from the Black Tower that the Magic Lords had departed from the place.

The old man felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders.

He relaxed back in his seat, then let out a happy laugh.

”Ha... Ha... Ha...”

”I’m going to see where the rat is hiding when the Magic Lords come here,” he said to himself.

He was confident because he had heard the names of the people who were coming. Magic Lord Gaston and Magic Lord Duncan were coming here.

Magic Lord Duncan, in particular, had business here. He wouldn’t like any disturbance to happen to his business.

He would certainly find the rat that was hiding.

...

Outside,

Three black-clothed wizards reached Darkmoon City. The three black-clothed wizards were none other than Magic Lords from the Covenant.

After getting there, they didn’t approach the main gate. Instead, they were looking for other ways to sneak in.

One of them was a broad-shouldered wizard; his name was Boris. The second wizard was slightly obese; his name was Lars. The third one was leaner and shorter than the two; his name was Sergei.

The appearances of the Magic Lords might have been different, but each one of them was sinister and notorious. They had done numerous evil things.

This time, the Covenant had sent them here to bring the city under their control.

”Boris, did you find anything?” Lars asked.

Boris furrowed his eyebrows and said, ”The airspace of the city has restrictions. But the restrictions don’t cover the watchtowers.”

Hearing that, Lars asked, ”What do you mean?”

Boris said, ”It means the watchtower is unprotected.”

”How is that possible?”

”There could be tricks behind it,” Sergei said from behind.

”I’m thinking about that too. Darkmoon City is a powerful city compared to the other surrounding cities. It comes under the rule of the Black Tower of the Mage Union,” Boris said.

”The Black Tower is lenient when it comes to evil wizards. The rules are relaxed here. Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards from the evil path often visit this city,” he added.

”That’s why the higher-ups wanted to target this city first,” Lars said.

”Were you sleeping during the explanation?” Boris snorted.

Sergei shook his head and said, ”Then we should use this opportunity to sneak inside the city.”

Boris and Lars stopped arguing and decided to sneak inside. Before that, they used their old-school methods to check whether there were any traps or formations in the watchtower.

The result showed nothing. The three of them looked at each other. For a second, they thought it was a good opportunity to sneak in. It was better than entering through the main gate.

Swoosh!

The next second, the three figures disappeared from the spot. Three dark shadows flew over to the watchtower.

Before the watchtower wizards could see anything, the three shadows moved through the corridor and reached the next watchtower before entering the city.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye.

Swoosh!

The three black shadows didn’t stop. They disappeared into the crowd in the blink of an eye. They would stop at a remote location before contacting the frontline wizards hiding here.

...

City Lord’s Office

City Lord Conrad was sitting behind his desk and resting. The crystal ball in front of him glowed with crimson light three times continuously.

Conrad felt the changes from the crystal ball. When he saw the three rhythmic glows, his expression changed drastically. He once again turned off the restrictions on the airspace and exited the office building.

Swoosh!

He went to the watchtower next. He once again spread his mental power and covered the watchtower at the same time.

Apart from the watchtower wizards, he didn’t find anyone. His expression turned ugly. He checked one more time, but the result was the same.

Next, he appeared inside the watchtower. He cast the same spell before retrieving the hidden artifact. It was glowing in crimson three times as well.

”Three people have entered this time. Do they belong to the same group? The first one entered to probe. Now his members have sneaked inside,” City Lord Conrad said to himself.

He couldn’t wait for the two Magic Lords to come. Then he would catch all the hidden rats in the city.
